The long Bank Holiday allowed me to have some time to look back at older images.
I wasn't fond of the phrase 'Platty Joobs,' when I first heard it but some people took it to a whole other level. I was buying some dog food on the Wednesday evening when I overheard a lady at the till next to me say 'I'm defo doin a latty flo test before drinkie poos at Skippy Lou Lou's for the Platty Joobs!'
I'm guessing she then got in her carie warie, went homey womey and had a few ginnie winnies before beddie weddie that evening:)
Have a great weekend all.

Here folks I overheard the conversation and was appalled. The Mom was telling the baby to be careful of that guy down there pointing that big thing at them, and I said that I was not there to harm them but to show people how beautiful they were.
Have a great day everyone and thank you so very much for visiting, hopefully Flickr will get it right and we will ll be happy.
After a nice close up and a little abstract photography, I decided to follow it up with a wide angle 10mm capture of the performing arts center. The dramatic clouds overheard gathered a few other photographers around the complex as we all shot together for about 20 min or so.
The architecture has always fascinated me but how the different colors accept light always has me coming back for more here.
I had mixed feelings on whether to leave the light fixture in the frame but I almost always choose to leave things naturally.

Plans quickly changed while driving out the Lynchburg to shoot 234 as I overheard the crew of 747 tell Roanoke they were ready to head north. Roanoke asked for their engine numbers and to my surprise 8104 was doing the honors this day and the race was on to beat them to Natural Bridge. I arrived with 10 minutes to spare and the sun broke through the fog as the train was in sight!
...we put on the tree this year? I want these!"
Exactly what I overheard near me when taking the picture.
In English, American accent. Imagine a rather shrill female voice.
I wondered how she wants to get "these" back to her home without breaking them.
"These" are not your usual "unbreakable", cheap plastic decorations. This is real glass, very thin walled and supposedly handmade.
Prices range from EUR 12.50 for a simple bauble to EUR 42.50 for a tree topper...

My wonderful girlfriend on a horse on a ledge at Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park and a big storm in the backdrop. There’s a native Navajo who lets people get pictures on his horse with the gorgeous backdrop of Monument Valley. He overheard my gf and I talking about an angle she’d seen online, and told us to hang out a little while longer until the crowd dissipated, which we did. He then allowed us to take turns getting this angle of each other, and this was my favorite of my gf. A really awesome cool experience 😊

Huge shoutout to my amazing partner and love Kaname Kuze who posed with me for this one. I love you babe <3
I am aware that it has become quiet around me in the last few weeks. As some may have noticed, something happened in my RL from mid-May that required a lot of my attention and energy. But things are calming down and not everything ends badly fortunately. But I was and am tired, which is why this outfit was a long time coming.
It wasn't without a message
A few weeks ago I overheard a wonderful man from our community posting a picture of his avatar in a dress. He felt beautiful and free and he was! But he had harvested a lot of hateful comments underneath, which just frustrated me. I was sorry because his self-esteem was obviously suffering and he certainly didn't deserve it. Nobody has that.
Just a few moments later, I saw a picture of one of the most well-known bloggers wearing the same dress I'm wearing here. He meant it as a joke and a lot of people celebrated the idea. But honestly.....it wasn't funny at all to me anymore. With this range, it sent a completely wrong signal. And if some now say I've got a stick up my ass... fine with me.
I didn't like it at all. As someone who fights for us to be normal in looks like this..as someone who constantly exposes himself to ridicule and sits just because he likes to wear dresses and skirts, I found it sickening.
It's not funny for people like us. Mockery and scorn are not funny and it doesn't help if you literally put a crown on it without even wasting a thought on the fact that you can also misunderstand it. Especially in Pride month
This is my statement on this and I call on everyone to do the same! Dare and put on your most beautiful clothes. Show me you in your dresses and skirts. You are kings and queens!
If my opinion is too stiff for you, you can leave. It's not funny, it makes me puke. I am a queen and I stand for everyone who cannot build up enough self-confidence because of people like you.
FIGHT ME! HAPPY PRIDE!!!
I spend quite a large part of my life choosing, testing and repairing photographic equipment. It takes me much more time than creating pictures..
Once I unwittingly overheard a conversation of men drinking alcohol on the river bank.
They talked about fishing and choosing equipment for this.
One of them had a heavy box of various fishing gear. He showed them with pride, laid out and sorted out ... spinners, wobblers, fishing lines, hooks ...
And the other could boast of nothing but a shovel.
But I remember his words well:
".. there are men's magazines about women,
But sometimes it's just a woman.."
After that He dug up worms and went to fish..)
Nice weather and great photos this weekend for all of us
And let the pleasure of the process does not replace the result for us ! ) ) )

Kg Glam Basket Shop, Singapore.
Mural by Singapore artist YC
in his own words:
"The mural is at the back alley of 58 Arab Street (off Baghdad Street). For a very long time, the units were filled with wicker and rattan basket shops. They were iconic and very photogenic. They all closed just before Covid hit. To remember the iconic sight, the house owner who commissioned the mural, requested for the theme of the basket shops. But I wanted to make it whimsical. So I made the scene realistic yet disproportionate – between the baskets, the 3 cats, the fisherman and the laundry. I also created a faux roof from the shape of the wall, a fishing rod from the earthing cable, and a laundry from the meter boxes. It’s a small mural but it is fun! “Look at the cat’s eyes! so killer, so cute!” was the most common comment I overheard from passers-by."

When sparrows fly out, it's always a special show because they all stay together at first and romp through all the bushes and trees in the neighbourhood together. They cannot be overlooked and certainly cannot be overheard. I photographed this young sparrow in the lilac bush. It was quiet for once. Maybe it's wondering what that guy with the black box in his hand is doing actually.

Fresh off a stint pulling SP's hot Denver to Salt Lake City UPS train, Cotton Belt GP60 No. 9671 and Southern Pacific No. 9765 find themselves leading a 15-car "Midvale Tramp" local on D&RGW's Garfield Branch near Salt Lake City Municipal Airport II the morning of July 29, 1995. The crew was later overheard chatting on the radio, touting the extended range dynamics of the EMDs, while descending the 2.2% grade of the Bingham Branch from Welby down to the Jordan River crossing on the West Jordan-Midvale City Line.
This was my reward after a long hike in the Galiuro Mountains. My friend and I ended up in a clearing surrounded by huge trees. There was a whole family of these Black Hawks flying around. I didn't even know that species lived there. I happened to photograph this one as it flew low overheard. What a thrill!

With some of the tallest line side poles I've ever seen along the D&RGW, Rio Grande's Railblazer, train No. 103, blasts its Nathan P3 airhorn for eight consecutive grade crossings through the small town Lehi, Utah at 8:16 a.m. on July 29, 1989. Overheard between the train toots were the sound of horses and chickens excited for the arrival of the zippy little sprint train.
Lost
On a painted sky
Where the clouds are hung
For the poet's eye
You may find him
If you may find him
There
On a distant shore
By the wings of dreams
Through an open door
You may know him
If you may
Be
As a page that aches for a word
Which speaks on a theme that is timeless
And the one God will make for your day
Sing
As a song in search of a voice that is silent
And the Son God will make for your way
And we dance
To a whispered voice
Overheard by the soul
Undertook by the heart
And you may know it
If you may know it
While the sand
Would become the stone
Which begat the spark
Turned to living bone
Holy, holy
Sanctus, sanctus
Be
As a page that aches for a word
Which speaks on a theme that is timeless
While the one God will make for your day
Sing
As a song in search of a voice that is silent
And the one God will make for your way

Managed to get out of Ohio for awhile and visit home turf. After driving the previous day, and waking up early the next morning, I made my way up 95 into Baltimore and overheard a “B778” calling signals on the Belt Line. Native plants are generally dormant during the cold season and, so, were not affected by the hungry sheep. As spring was imminent, 5 March 2022 was the herd's, err, swan song.

A brilliant day on Sunday. It didn't seem that windy initially but that soon changed and I lost my hat on several occasions and I overheard a conversation that one of the walkers had actually been knocked off his feet.
This was one of those places where you visit and simply run out of time.
We spent a LOT of time looking at the scene above, simply because we were mesmerised by the spray, which the wind was whipping up.
We sat (or stood with difficulty) for ages watching it start at the far side of Llyn Idwal until it reached us and one of us, who shall remain nameless, got a soaking!
'Well, excuthse me, pleathse, for thshlurring. But you thsee my probothsciths'sh full of nectar. Anyway, thiths'sh not for you yet. I'm not making a moral point but juthst one of fact. Onthce you've turned from a Thspanner Caterpillar into a fine Geometer Moth, your stongue will be thsuited for thisth thsweet thstuff. Meanwhile you'll have to make do with your diet of leavesth.'
'Yes, Ma'am Honeybee, I understand and I know my own crawling body. And once I metamorphise into fluttering I'll be enjoying what I can't possibly like now. I'm still eating only greens, here those of Cape Bugloss, rather rough to my taste - as the Ancients already said - but beggars can't be choosers.'
Thus a short exchange Olymp overheard as he was watching this little scene.
This wonderful blue flower hails from the Cape of South Africa; it was first mentioned for Europeans by Carl Peter Thunberg (1743-1828), a familiar of these pages. It was described more fully in Curtis's Botanical Magazine in 1815-1816.
These colourful chairs were found in Det Kongelige Biblioteks Have.
This park apparently has an amazing history. I overheard a teacher telling his pupils that this place first was a shipyard for the king, but when the ships got to big, the place was turned in to an arms factory and that the park was an area where they tested out granates! A good thing that the park now is a place for peace and thoughts.
I got to the Mill Pond before first light. I had finished my coffee and wandered off to the far side of thhe Mill Pond when I heard the sound of a boat’s engine. I hurried back around the pond and got there just in time to click a few shots of this boat coming in. I didn’t expect to get anything worth having those shots, but Photoshop can do some amazing things these days. This was shot at ISO 65,535 and to say it was grainy would be like saying water is wet. I suspect this boat is a one man operation. Later I walked past him as he was sorting through his catch; he didn’t seem happy. That afternoon I overheard a couple of locals talking about how there were plenty of shrimp to be caught but the price so low you couldn’t make a profit.
I processed and textured this picture in Photoshop
I overheard a lady remarking on how loud these must have been. I didn't give it a thought until she said it, but yeah.

I overheard CN L50391-26 give the CN RTC their markup out of Clearing Yard as the clouds were heading east this morning, and the lead engine piqued my interest. Recently, while clearing the attic, I noticed something in one of the many obscured corners, something that I had overlooked in all the many years before. Not that I visit the attic often, it's terribly dark, dusty, full of cobwebs (and spiders!), and trodden floorboards that, every time they creak, make me jump – and all of a sudden the shadows come to life... Well, attic owners, I guess you know what I mean. But that new discovery made me overcome my fear of the dark. There was something carefully wrapped up in thick layers of old looking fabric, a square shape. When I looked at that wrapped-up shape I remembered that, when I was little, I'd overheard my grandfather speak of a "painted treasure" a few times, and everytime he noticed me, he made a shush gesture. I wondered... Could that be it? The painted treasure? With shaky hands, I carefully began to unknot the many knots of the old, rough cord that kept the fabric together. In some parts the cord was so frail that it crumbled when I touched it. When I finally had removed the cord and the heavy fabric, I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a painting, an old painting, very old. But it looked so fresh, so... alive.
Carefully, I carried the painting down the narrow stairs to the living room to have a closer look. The style, the signature, they rang a bell. I did some quick online research, and soon found my suspicion confirmed: "Bingo!", I yelled, because this painting seemed to be the legendary, long-lost portrait of Aubrey Gina Melanzana I. of the Solanum empire, painted by no other than the famous Listada de Gandia, the only paintress among the old masters that had managed to come to fame at a time when female artists had not (yet) been appreciated. This find was a sensation. And I was rich :)
OK, friends, the truth: I live in an apartment, and the attic in the house I live in has been converted into flats decades ago. But there is a suspended ceiling in my hall, and it's sure crammed with stuff like suitcases, a few of my childhood stuffed animals, fabric rolls – and dust and cobwebs ;) My grandfather has also never talked about a painted (or any other) treasure hidden somewhere, but he loved to paint in oil, a passion (and talent) that he'd passed on to my dad. And while I've always preferred to draw (before I re-discovered the joy of photography), I do love eggplant :) When I saw this cute, small eggplant with its adorable "nose" last Saturday at the weekend market, I knew I had to take a photo of it before turning it into a delicious meal.
I have seen lovely portraits photographed to resemble the style of Rembrandt, Vermeer, Rubens here on Flickr, and thought I'd try an aubergine "portrait" in that style, and not to forget the magnificent Giuseppe Arcimboldo when it comes to "vegetable people", of course ;). Ingredients used were: juniper berries and pins with a green head, a blue napkin with a floral pattern / white lace doily as mantle and renaissance collar; the brooch is borrowed from my mom, it belonged to my grandmother; grape on fondue fork as sceptre; the small crown (for all over scale: it's 2,2 cm / 0,86 inches high) used to be a pencil's end cap, and I'd only bought the pencil because of the crown (at the museum shop of the German Historical Museum). As light I used my DIY soft box, placed on the right, and used a piece of golden coated cardboard (from a cookie box) as a handheld reflector on the left. Processed in DXO, Viveza, Color Efex, and ON1 2020 for the textures (Raw Hide, Brocade Black, Canvas) which I've only applied to the background.
Happy Sliders Sunday, Everyone!
P.S. The image is no art forgery, I had it checked at my greengrocer's ;)
Here's a little well that our guide took us to during our tour of the outskirts of Monument Valley.
I have been prodded to post a story with this photo so here goes. This is a spot way back in Copper Canyon, Arizona. It was on Quanah's list of spots to hit during the Milky Way season and we decided to hit it on the way back from the dunes. We set off for the dunes at the back of the canyon in Wayne's jeep, which he recently modified with a beefed up suspension and these big-ass rims and tires which would allow him to get even more remote areas, as if the areas he shoots aren't remote enough and all went well until we came to the spot that you must drive over solid "pillow rock" which is a rock pattern that feels like your driving over a continuous series of speed bumps which also makes it difficult to leave a tire track to follow. At one point we had to exit the vehicle and scour the area with flashlights for any signs of tire tracks but to no avail, then after some serious tracking found a way through. What I haven't mention here or to Wayne and Quanah was that before we left the road I seemed to be fine but after 10 mins of travel over some seriously rugged terrain my left kidney started to complain, more bouncing, more pain. I thought of asking "How much longer before we get there but I didnt want to sound like some kid in the backseat complaining about the ride so I shrugged it off, which is what I normally do. OK, don't say anything to these guys until it gets really bad, I thought to myself, I mean I don't want to spoil the night for the other guys right, luckily it subsided when we reached the dunes and I went about my business in some noted discomfort. After we shot this cool little tree that looked as if it was walking over the dunes, we departed for the well. about half way there I overheard Quanah something about links, as I started picking up more the conversion I realized what he was referring to. The links are the pins that you pull out of the suspensions anti sway system that makes the ride much less bumpy and reduces jerkiness inside the vehicle. WHAT!!!! There's something we could have done to smooth out the ride!!!!! I wish that I knew that before the blood inducing kidney bashing ride in. Oh well, maybe I should have spoken up, maybe I should have complained, but that's not like me, after years of kidney stones I've learned how to manage pain, then again maybe it would have triggered Quanah's memory sooner. Well you live and learn, I had an awesome night despite the discomfort, which is what I call it nowadays, and I'm sure my doctor wouldn't have been happy about the evenings activities, especially if he had seen the blood that I passed back at the hotel restroom. But there's almost nothing that will stop us from the possibility of getting "that" shot. The things we do to get it, a few drops of blood or a couple of layers of skin off the knee, a rattled kidney, small price to pay for a night out with these guys. Unfortunately, the kidney got worse and took me out of the shooting the following night which took place inside of Monument Valley, the place I really wanted to shoot because of the restrictions there. Time to plan another trip!!! ;-)

The next morning I left Cochem heading for Aachen with a few stops along the way I had to travel up over the slopes of Cochem to leave the Mosel valley but it afforded me a great view of the castle and town from the other side of the river that I would have missed unless traveling in this direction.
I loved my time in Cochem and would definitely stop here again if I am anywhere near it the people are lovely and welcoming and the scenery wine and food are to beat on top of this.
A last bit of legend about this story book Castle is that during the White Sunday the Sunday after Easter one of the servants from the castle was on his way to call on his sweet heart in a neighboring village and came across a large party of armed men resting and he overheard them discussing attacking the castle.
The servant rushed back to the castle and warned the knights there about the impending attack the well prepared knights easily defeated the attackers thanks to the warning and the next day had a celebration.
Since this victory then they have celebrated with a feast in the servants honor every Knipp Monday or so the story goes.

Half an hour after this photo was taken, I got my first job as a photographer at this year's 'Listed Rally for Soapbox Cars'. My wife had overheard a conversation. A commissioned photographer was not able to appear. 'My husband's a photographer!' 'You did not say that, did you,' I said when she came over to tell me. 'No reason not to exaggerate,' she answered. I did my best and published at their 134 members facebook page.
Thanks to all who see, fave, comment and follow. It's all very appreciated :)
We popped down and eavesdropped from a branch right above her head the other day ... and you know what we heard? Sounds like she's working away on her annual "12 Days of Christmas Butterflies"! She may sneak in some dragonflies ... we're not sure but we think a winter Green anole overheard more ... and will be by soon with more info.
Cheers! a pair of tiny Brown-headed nuthatches in Vicki's yard

Ok, parties of geologists come to places like this on holiday. I overheard one of the group leaders saying that the beach is littered with stuff that was spat out by the volcanoes across the sea in Skye. A while ago. So whilst there are plumes of dark volcanic rock thrusting out of the coast, this end of the beach is covered in green algae pebbles and rocks where the freshwater river flows out to the sea, but further back where the sand is pale and fine, is where the black volcanic grit, washed out of the surrounding mountains flows over the 'white' seashell sand to make all the patterns I show elsewhere in my photostream. The shoreline is quite steep, with a deep heap of granite pebbles of varying colours and strata, that rolls back and forward with the tides and sometimes thunderous Atlantic waves crashing into the bay.
This is a stitched image of nine frames that didn't quite join up as wonderfully as I had hoped, but you get the picture. Nice grey, cloudy sky. End of the track, fabulous isolated back o'beyond holiday home on the Ardnamurchan Estate at Fascadale, fully equipped with jump leads.

While hanging around Olean, NY awaiting the departure of a Western New York and Pennsylvania turn to East Salamanca, I overheard the Buffalo & Pittsburgh (B&P) dispatcher giving a warrant to something "301" from Machias to Windfall. I was familiar with Machias as a WNYP connection, but Windfall was new to me. Nonetheless, I hightailed it over to the B&P and 30 minutes later, was parked at former Buffalo, Rochester & Pittsburgh (BR&P) "AD" Tower at Ashford to see what I could see.
Long waits always have me second-guessing myself when trying to catch up to a train in unfamiliar territory, but I needn't have worried. After about 30 minutes on site, I was pleasantly surprised when the familiar rumble of an approaching train turned into this, led by former Wellsboro & Corning (ex-QNSL) SD40-2 #301, and moving at "leisurely speed." As it turns out, Windfall is at East Salamanca, and after an updated warrant, this train from Buffalo would later meet its northbound counterpart at Bradford, PA.
Incidentally, AD Tower controlled the junction of the BR&P mainlines to Buffalo and Rochester, making it one of the more definitive interlockings on the system.
This is the camera owned by Walker Evans exhibited at the George Eastman (Kodak Museum). Last weekend when I went to the Art Institute, I overheard a conversation in the photography section of the museum about how it's difficult to find the balance between being in the moment and capturing the moment. I think this is even more true now that photography is increasingly accessible to everyone. However, it was my first true love when I turned 16 and more interesting that any of my first dates. Photography gave me a way to take some of my inside ideas and big emotions and show them on the outside when I was frustrated by drawing and painting and how bad at it I was. I spent many long hours in the dark room of my high school, hiding out from the whole world and experimenting with multiple exposures. My favorite thing about my high school (and one of the only good things) was unlimited clay for my sculptures and unlimited film and paper....which, was truly incredible looking back on it.

New recruit to the normally stolid Guardians, Gordon McGargoyle was spotted deviating from his assigned patrol on Thursday past. This clear dereliction of duty is currently under investigation by local authorities and it is understood that a specialist has been sent for. No further comment has yet been made by the authorities though the recruit himself has been overheard saying "They were so Alive! "

There aren't a lot of shots I have not done on LS&I west of Eagle Mills, but that number is not zero. After shooting the 3 Tilden making their first pull from the mine, we casually listened to the radio conversation between the operator and the crew. Fortunately, the Viking was paying better attention than I was and overheard the magic word: wye. This meant one thing, the crew would be putting their cars in the new yard, which means a trip around the wye and down the Republic Sub for head room. Pulling up far enough, the train pulls into Diamond Junction where the Soo Line used to cross the LS&I to access their own ore mines. After traffic dropped, the line was removed west of the diamond and a switch was installed and trackage rights were agreed upon. Eventually, the line was abandoned, and despite the tracks being long out of service, the switch is still in place, signals turned, and seldom seeing trains.
