Vermeer pinhole camera 2nd try. Living in Norway you are never too far from a river or stream. This one is a short 15 minute drive from my home. I set the Vermeer up on a tripod and took a light reading which was 57 sec. f/300 .

Not a bad shot considering the weather which was overclouded.

It was raining here again most of the day. I pass these sculptures on the way to work most everyday and think to myself I should stop and shoot them one day. With overcloud skies I decided today is the day.

Zaterdag 15 November 2014

Saterday the 15th November 2014

This Saterday the "Blokkendoos" train from the Dutch National Railway Museum made a trip with a company from the Museum to Zwolle - on the way in via the Veluwelijn, on the way back through the polders via the Hanzelijn and Flevolijn.

Three part Blokkendoos (Mat '24) train passes Lelystad Stabling Yard over the Hanzelijn in direction Lelystad servicing tr. 28202 on its way from Zwolle to its home-base the Dutch National Railway Museum at Utrecht Maliebaan station - the company is enjoying the spheric light in the train , not the view into the gray and almost dark outside. Dramatic weather - heavy overcloud and evening falling in - i made the best of it ;)

The first image comes from a rainy afternoon stroll on the beach. This was between two sets of storms rolling across the island. There were two sets of breakers framing the beach so I set up on the one to the left and started snapping pictures from a crouched position. I was holding the camera by hand shooting at fairly high-speed for the overcloud conditions. inspiredvisionstudios.wordpress.com/2014/04/28/bt-crashin...

Raindrops shot from my car window. I really like how the clouds in the background came out.

Little tip for shooting raindrops: To capture the shape of raindrops, shoot the window at about 45deg angle.

A tree on top of Old Sarum, not too far from Stonehenge near Salisbury, Great Britain. This is the very top of the ancient Celtic fort, a must-see for anyone in the area. The view from on-top of this hill is incredible.

Posted for #TreeTuesday and #TonemapHDRTuesday on Google+. This is 3xp brackets, tonemapped in Photomatix with a slight tweak to the default B&W preset. I hope you like it.

I had taken over a thousand photos of the thundercats in action today at Piha but none of them look as good as this one. Probably because the sky was overclouded and this static one turn out to be better than all the other ones in action. It made me feel that a tank has just emerged from the beach at Normandy during WWII.

A View of the Maas at Dordrecht; Aelbert Cuyp (Dutch, 1620 - 1691); about 1645 - 1646

Cuyp was one of the best landscape painters in Holland. He had a special talent for depicting the Dutch light. This painting shows it. The overclouded sky, with a dark shadow caused by a thick cloud in the foreground. This trick was often used by seventeenth century painters to suggest depth their works. In art history we call this "repousoir". It can also be achieved by objects in the foreground.

Cuyp was born in Dordecht, the old city at right. The river is the Oude Maas.

Dordrecht is still a very beautiful town and worth a visit.

My first ever visit to Liverpool.

All kinds of lighting during the day as it went from overclouded to rain, then sunshine with a nice sunset.

Changing conditions, made me pull out all the tricks with my camera.

Looking from the wonderful gardens of the monastery of Cimiez down to the mediterranian sea on an overclouded winterday. The green knoll is the place of the former citadel, that was demolished with all ramparts in 1705. Today, by the way, the French Foreign Legion ("Légion étrangère") has an office near that place, but I did not apply for a job. Unfortunately not to be seen is the "Place Garibaldi" (just in front of the knoll), named after italian hero Guiseppe Garibaldi, who was born 1807 - in Nice.
