scratched the dirt, and ate a bug,
fluffed her feathers, settled close,
watched by mama, who loves her most........

On this International Women's Day, I thought I'd post an image of a mother providing for her family.
This is one of my personal favourite images from my most recent trip to the Masai Mara, Kenya in 2022.
This cheetah familly was on a 'family outing'. Mom, known as Kweli, was leading her three cubs on a hunt. She led the cubs from termite mound to termite mound,-only briefly stopping on each one-to look for prey. She first attempted to capture a gazelle but was unsuccessful. She then regrouped, crossed a riverbed, and then successfully caught an impala for her family. Following that she called the cubs over to eat, but she herself was far too tired to eat for nearly a half hour. It's amazing how hard mothers of all different species work for their families.
Let us be grateful for the contribution of moms around the world!

A little outing with the locals - always fun.
Shot with a Sigma 12-24. Tweaked in LR, converted in Silver Effects and cleaned up in Noiseless.
[Apologies for disappearing for a while - work takes up so much (too much) life sometimes.]
My first outing with this snazzy new 400mm prime lens. After having 3 or 4 trips this year cancelled, I'd 'saved' so much that I could afford this - well.. thats my rationale even if it is flawed.
A new holland honeyeater.
Some outing this turned out to be lol started off great we visited a few nice places then stopped for lunch and a look around this cute little bay and when we went to get back on this scooter guess what? yes you guessed it it wouldn't start, but at least the view was nice and the company great. We sat and chatted until the repair guy arrived.. all in all it was a fun outing..
till next time be safe..
It's a beautiful sunny day as this family of Canada Geese are out for a leisurely stroll.
Pushing on that trigger is like pulling magic into my very soul....Darrell.
Have a safe and delightful day dear flickr friends.
Thank you to everyone for your visits to my photo-stream....very much appreciated !
On an unsuccessful outing for this guy looking for a meal folks, like me not seeing to much here lately, ugh.
Thank you all for the visit, have a great day.
Always very much appreciated.
Yesterday afternoon I visited a local wetland with my son and I am posting 5 photos from that little outing.
This is the first yellow-headed blackbird I have seen this year. I saw and heard a few of them on Monday. I was glad to find this one in some beautiful light.
We saw this Black-headed grosbeak, a juvenile, at the bird blind at Laguna Atascosa NWR. It is certainly a first for me and several people were very inteested in seeing it. From the pictures in Sibley, there's also a first summer and winter rose-breasted grosbeak that looks very similar. There was lots of other birds vying for some seeds and it seemed content to wait out the flurry. We were treated to four roadrunners and two armadillos on the road in so very productive outing for late in the afternoon
A bunch of ducklings follow their mother up Bear Creek on their early morning outing to feed. Bear Creek Park, Keller, Texas, USA, July 2015

Another shot from an early morning walk in the woods. Lots of signs of Spring, which is very weird being December. The seasons are a tad confused at the moment!
Mack and I both get up between 3:30 and 4. We are both early risers. I think early morning is Mack's favorite time of day. He likes to go outside as soon as we wake up - I'm guessing to go pee on all the neighbor's bushes but I might be wrong since I don't go outside with him. He stays out for an hour or so and then comes back inside to sleep on a heated mat all day. Since it's pitch black at that time of day, we tried to recreate his morning outing later in the day, however, the grass was soggy from all our recent rain and it was cold and windy, so we took a couple of quick photos and then it was back inside to our space heater (me) and heated mat (Mack). Ella slept during the whole photo shoot.
Happy Caturday: daily routine
PS, I actually have to go into work today so I may not be able to comment until later in the day.
Canada Geese coming back from an afternoon swim at Andrew Hayden Park in Ottawa, Ontario Canada. Best viewed large! Happy Bench Monday everyone =)
When I leave the parking lot at the Fountain Creek Nature Center, I always look to see what is happening at the small prairie dog town just outside the lot. Here is family shot of the little critters enjoying a sunny morning a couple of days ago. I would love to get down to their eye level but they are very skittish at this location. This was shot from my favorite blind - our jeep!
Thanks so much to everyone who takes the time to view, like or comment on my photos!

1st outing since my left hip operation! Ignacio Valley Open Space Preserve. Couldn't walk up the hill but lovely to see some flutterings near the creek. (A friend held my camera until I was ready to shoot)
