Good luck to these guys--not to catch a big fish. Rather, good luck--hope you don't fall through the ice this late in the season.

Furthermore, though I've heard that the walleyes are "running", I have only seen very small fish being caught.

On one of our last hikes in this year`s fall season I finally got to visit this classical spot close to Alpe Devero in Piemonte. This beautiful mountain lake is surrounded by forests of larches and high peaks already covered with snow. When looking at this image I could still pinch myself that I got to visit this wonderful place this autumn.

I can’t have you thinking all I post is our Central Coast beaches, so here’s a change of scenery: the beautifully barren and otherworldly Mendenhall Glacier in the Juneau Icefields, Alaska.

It’s not quite the warm sand underfoot I’m used to -more like ice that could freeze your socks off. (And it did literally when I accidently stomped through into a hidden stream, but that's a story for another day). Nature is amazing, it's beauty knows no bounds, even in a place as chilly and rugged and barren as this.

Hope everyone’s weekend is as cool as this glacier (but, you know, maybe a bit warmer)! ❄️😄

Many thanks for every fave and comment, I appreciate them all!

Driving pass roads is my favorite! Bernina Pass in Switzerland is one of my absolute favorites in the Alps. View into the Val di Poschiavo.

Nature put on her best colors for the sunrise.

A beautiful day, colortime, the sun will soon return. So I can enjoy this awesome sky a few more days. Thank you for comments and faves:)

In nature, there is just a "look" to a young, untouched immature and I find it fascinating to see how that visually transforms as birds develop.

Here, I watched this young juvenile red-bellied woodpecker follow his parents throughout the hillside and in and out of the wooded area that frames the meadow. He seemed quite clueless in his behavior and left the worrying to his parents who worked hard to keep him under the cover of the shadows. This was a lucky moment for me when he came out in the open.

As always, thank you for stopping by for visits and conversation!

In the serene waters of Al Qudra Lake in Dubai, a majestic black swan glides gracefully, flanked by her two fluffy white cygnets. This tender scene captures the essence of motherly love—protective, nurturing, and unwavering. The adult swan's vigilant posture shields her young as they paddle innocently, reflecting the profound bond of family in nature's tranquil embrace. A moment of pure affection amidst the shimmering blue expanse.

Regent’s Park, London 🇬🇧

Taken on a woodland walk in Cumbria. The smell from this wild garlic was wonderful, the trouble was I spent more and more hungry as I love cooking with garlic.

This little tree by the shore of Lake Michigan has had a rough go of it. Still, it perseveres. I love all trees, but especially love gnarly trees like this because they have such character.

Snow struggle:) I like it:)

St Huberts church situated in Idsworth, Hampshire. In conversation it is often referred to as the church in the field. Dating to the 11th century this lovely little church is beautiful at any time of the year, but when it's surrounded by flowering crops, it is even more special.

Brighton's West Pier

For almost a century and a half the West Pier has been Britain’s most iconic pier. Renowned for its wonderful architectural style, it has been visited and enjoyed by millions. Even today with its sculptural remains casting an eerie beauty over the seafront, the West Pier is still the most photographed building in Brighton.

Trametes fungi lives up to it’s nickname because it does really look like a turkey tail!

Royal Pavilion Gardens, Brighton 🇬🇧

One meter of snow during one day. Now the fun winter start:)

It’s impressive to me that these dried up stalks along the beach are still standing. They’ve weathered some harsh winds in the last few months!

We were very excited to see this gorgeous owl on a hike!
