Fosen Krigshistoriske Samlinger at Austrått Fort on October 9, 2023. World War II German Heeres-Einheits-Schutzlüfter (HES) 1,2. Produced by Anton Piller Osterode/Harz in 1940. It is stamped with Heereswaffenamt code "WaA461". This ventilation device for use in bunkers had a capacity of 1,2 cubic meters of air per minute, hence the name. The air sucked into the bunker was purified by a carbon filter that sat on the top of the ventilation device. This apparatus was used not only in case of gas attacks, but also for the general ventilation of the bunker. The device was normally driven by hand through a crank, but it could also be fitted with an electric motor. On the device you can read that the crank should have 37 revolutions per minute (Hankurbel: U/min 37). Note that this item is exhibited alone, detached from the rest of the ventilation system
