Die Panorama Route in den Ausläufern der Drakensberge im Osten Südafrikas ist besonders bekannt für seine schönen Aussichten. Highlights sind der Blyde River Canyon im Blyde River Canyon Nation Reserve mit den markanten Three Rondavels.
Affords stunning views up the canyon, to the glistening Blydepoort Dam at the far end surrounded by forested slopes. The rocky cones of the Three Rondavels formations are just visible, and you can see over the ridge to the hazy plains on the far side.
The Three Rondavels are three round, grass-covered mountain tops with somewhat pointed peaks. They quite closely resemble the traditional round or oval rondavels or African homesteads, which are made with local materials. Sometimes they are also called the Three Sisters, though this may confuse them with a similar threesome visible from the N1 road in the Northern Cape, very far to the south.

Der Nikolaikirchhof wird im Osten durch die Ritterstraße und im Westen durch die Nikolaistraße begrenzt. Deshalb besitzen auch nur Grundstücke an seiner Nord- und seiner Südseite die Adresse Nikolaikirchhof. Auf der Nordseite steht die sanierte Alte Nikolaischule mit dem Antikenmuseum der Universität Leipzig.

Friedenskirche (Potsdam)
Zur Stadtseite im Osten ist der Friedensgarten durch kleine Baumgruppen und Sträucher eher verhalten übersichtlich bepflanzt. In diesem Bereich wurde der Friedensteich angelegt. Das Wasser umspielt das Kirchengebäude auf der nördlichen und östlichen Seite.

On the east side of the city, the Friedensgarten is planted with small groups of trees and shrubs, which are rather reserved and clear. The Peace Pond was created in this area. The water plays around the church building on the north and east side.

Der Bahnhof Kreillerstraße liegt in Berg am Laim im Münchner Osten und trägt seinen Namen wie die Straße nach einer Haidhausener Brauerei- und Grundbesitzerfamilie, die in Berg am Laim zahlreiche Grundstück besaß. Er wurde vom Architekturbüro Grüner + Schnell in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Baureferat der Stadt München, Hauptabteilung U-Bahn-Bau geplant. Die Eröffnung war am 29.05.1999. Die Lichtplanung übernahm hier das Bartenbach LichtLabor. Die indirekte Beleuchtung über drei Lichtbänder, die von großen Aluminiumtafeln an der Decke reflektiert werden, erstreckt sich wie ein Himmel über den gesamten Bahnsteig.
Die Form der Reflektorschirme ist exakt so berechnet, dass das Licht gleichmäßig über die gesamte Bahnsteigbreite verteilt wird und zudem der Streifen an der Bahnsteigkante betont wird. (Quelle: www.u-bahn-muenchen.de)
The station Kreillerstrasse is located in Berg am Laim in the east of Munich and bears its name like the road to a Haidhausen brewery and landowner family, which owned numerous plots in Berg am Laim. It was planned by the architectural firm Grüner + Schnell in cooperation with the building department of the City of Munich, Department of U-Bahn-Bau. The opening was on 29. 05. 1999. The lighting design was taken over by the Bartenbach LichtLabor. The indirect illumination over three light bands, which are reflected by large aluminium panels on the ceiling, extends like a sky over the entire platform. The shape of the reflector umbrellas is precisely calculated in such a way that the light is evenly distributed over the entire platform width and the stripe at the platform edge is emphasised. Von der obersten Plattform, man steht im Freien, kann der Besucher*in alle Richtungen über Berlin sehen. Hier geht der Blick in Richtung Osten. In der Ferne ist der Fernsehturm Nähe Alexander Platz zu sehen.

Nach Osten sieht man nicht mehr viel von den gewaltigen
Wassermassen aber die Sicht wird frei auf eine immer enger werdende Schlucht.
The Victoria Falls are a wide waterfall on the Zambezi River between the border towns of Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Livingstone in Zambia. The falls have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1989.
The local Kololo people, however, call the waterfall Mosi-oa-Tunya (thundering smoke). The name refers to the water spray that rises from the falls at a height of up to 300 m and can still be seen up to 30 km away.

Mein persönlicher Begleiter Josuah, Fahrer und Führer in Victora Falls. Er wandert mit mir entlang der Schlucht-kante auf einem schmalen Weg der von dichtem Grün eingesäumt wird. Wir werden etwas nass, nicht von Regen sondern von den Wassertröpfchen die die Gischt und der Wasserdampf aus der Schlucht heraufschleudern. Alles ist recht angenehm beider Hitze. Die Gegend wird zum Osten hin eher kahl und dürr - hier sind die Wasserfälle nur noch bescheiden und keine Feuchtigkeit ermöglicht das satte Grün wie westlich. Die Schlucht wird schmaler und am Grund ist nur wenig Wasser zu erkennen.
My personal guide Josuah, driver and guide in Victora Falls. He hikes with me along the edge of the gorge on a narrow path lined with dense greenery. We get a little wet, not from the rain but from the water droplets that the spray and steam throw up from the gorge. Everything is quite pleasant in the heat. The area becomes rather barren and arid towards the east - here the waterfalls are only modest and there is no humidity to provide the lush greenery of the west. The gorge becomes narrower and only a little water can be seen at the bottom.

Auf der Strecke von Elâzığ nach Tatvan im Osten der Türkei verkehrt täglich ziemlich zuverlässig ein Güterzugpaar des Einzelwagenverkehrs. Von Tatvan wird zumindest ein Teil der Wagen weiter per Fähre über den Vansee (türkisch Van Gölü) nach Van transportiert. Ab dem Ort Van geht es dann wieder per Bahn weiter bis in den Iran.
Am Morgen des 25.10.2025 erwarteten wir den Güterzug bei Palu, an der Spitze befindet sich DE 33 071. Die Strecke verläuft hier direkt entlang des Flusses Murat und durchquert mehrere, kurze Tunnels.
On the Elâzığ to Tatvan line in eastern Turkey, there is usually a daily pair of freight trains. From Tatvan, at least some of the wagons are transported by ferry across Lake Van (Turkish: Van Gölü) to Van. From Van, the journey continues by rail to Iran. On the morning of October 25, 2025, we awaited the freight train near Palu, with locomotive DE 33 071 at the head. The line here runs directly alongside the Murat River and passes through several short tunnels.
Wenn morgens im Osten über den Hügeln die Sonne am Hornborgasjörn aufsteigt, dann ist das erste Rufen der Kraniche zu hören. Erst vereinzelt und dann in großen Pulks fliegen sie von ihren Schlafplätzen heran, ihr Ziel sind die Futterflächen am Naturum Trandansen.
Auch als Bote des Frühlings bezeichnet, legen die Kraniche in dieser Region ab Mitte März einen Zwischenstopp ein. Füllen ihre Reserven an den Futterflächen auf, für ihren weiteren Weg in die Brutgebiete Nordskandinaviens. In dieser Zeit sind oftmals mehr als 10.000 Exemplare gleichzeitig vor Ort.
Die Tiere haben sich an die sie beobachtenden Menschen gewöhnt, so daß die Fluchtdistanz der Kraniche deutlich geringer ist als in freier Wildbahn. Man wird in Europa kaum einen anderen Platz finden, von dem man ohne jegliche Tarnvorrichtung aus allernächster Nähe diese wunderschönen Geschöpfe beobachten kann. Jedes Jahr besuchen deswegen zu dieser Zeit mehr als 100.000 Menschen diesen besonderen Ort.
Die beste Tageszeit für einen Besuch ist sicherlich der frühe Morgen, denn dann ist man noch alleine mit den vielen anderen Fotografen…
When the sun rises above Hornborgasjörn in the east over the hills, the first call of the cranes can be heard. First, occasionally and then large groups, they fly up from their sleeping quarters, their goal is the forage areas at Naturum Trandansen.
Also known as the messenger of spring, the cranes stop in this region from mid-March. Fill up their reserves on the forage areas for their further journey to the breeding areas in Northern Scandinavia. During this time there are often more than 10,000 copies on site at the same time.
The animals have gotten used to the people watching them, so that the flight distance of the cranes is significantly less than in the wild. You will hardly find another place in Europe from which you can observe these beautiful creatures up close without any camouflage device. That's why more than 100,000 people visit this special place at this time every year.
The best time of day for a visit is certainly the early morning, because then you are still alone with the many other photographers ...

Sie leben in Brasilien, ausgenommen der äußerste Süden und Osten, sowie in Nordparaguay, Ost-Bolivien, Ost-Peru, Ost-Kolumbien, im Norden bis Panama, Süd-Venezuela, Trinidad, Guyana, Surinam und Französisch-Guayana.
Wie bei fast allen Papageienarten befindet sich auch der Bestand des Gelbbrustaras in einigen Teilen seines Verbreitungsgebietes auf dem Rückzug. Der Hauptgrund ist die Zerstörung seiner Umwelt durch menschliche Siedler !!!

They live in Brazil, with the exception of the extreme south and east, as well as in North Paraguay, East Bolivia, East Peru, East Colombia, the north to Panama, South Venezuela, Trinidad, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana.
As with almost all parrot-types, also the continuance of the yellow-breast-aras is on the retreat in some parts of its spread-area. The main reason is the destruction of its environment by human settlers !!!

Como con casi todos los tipos de loros, también la continuación de los pechos amarillos está en retirada en algunas partes de su área de dispersión. La razón principal es la destrucción de su medio ambiente por los colonos humanos!

Same image of a hoverfly I posted a few weeks ago. When I had been looking around to see what else was about, I returned to find the hoverfly had started to wake up and clear the dew from its eyes, it is still too cold to be really active but it uses its front feet to wipe away the dew. It's only really when the full sun lands on the insect when it then becomes fully active and the dew evaporates.

Another one of the these Bee flies. There appears to be quite some variation in colour and size, the smaller ones such as this one are also a lot paler, wondered if this was just sexual dimorphism in this species.

Had been out for a walk yesterday and seen lots of bee flies, though far to active to get a close look.
Returned early this morning and half expected finding them would be quite difficult, but as it turned out to be quite the opposite with over a dozen sleeping in a small patch close to the river. It had rained yesterday morning so there was a dew which was an added bonus. Not an easy one to Id and only managed to get as far as the genus.

The weather in L'Orxa has been very mixed, with heavy rain followed by a couple of calm days, it's raining now as another storm passes through. This can make macro photography a little challenging particularly when going out in the morning after a previous day(s) of heavy rain.
This was the case last weekend and wasn't expecting too much as most insects disappear low down into the long grass and under leaves in such conditions. Fortunately managed to find a dew covered hoverfly that had survived the deluge.
