The trip to the Greene County Historical Society to see W&W #4 had an added benefit, the locomotive made it's grand appearance shortly after arrival to visit the exhibits. Absolutely fantastic t osee this old locomotive move and be in such nice shape. A 2-6-0 Mogul wheel classification, this Alco Cooke Works product was finished in May of 1916. Construction Number 55847 had a boiler pressure of 150 PSI and 42 inch drivers. It was a 3ft gauge locomotive.

Ossee Freeman Schreckengost (April 11, 1875 – July 9, 1914), born F. Osee Schrecongost, was an American professional baseball catcher and first baseman. He played for seven Major League Baseball teams between 1897 and 1908. Between 1902 and 1908, he caught for the Philadelphia Athletics, where he was the roommate and battery mate for pitcher Rube Waddell. Schreckengost's first name is sometimes spelled "Ossie" and his last name is sometimes shortened to "Schreck" to suit the limited space in baseball box scores.

He made his Major League Baseball debut with the Louisville Colonels on September 8, 1897. He spent the 1898 season and part of the 1899 season with the Cleveland Spiders before joining the St. Louis Perfectos, where he took over at first base for the team's player-manager, Patsy Tebeau.

He appeared in his final game on October 2, 1908, which was the perfect game pitched by Addie Joss. He was also on the wrong side of Cy Young's perfect game, pitched four years earlier. He may be best remembered for being Rube Waddell's primary catcher and roommate for the duration of Waddell's Philadelphia Athletic years. Waddell's unpredictable and bizarre nature famously led to Ossee insisting on a "no crackers in bed" clause added to Waddell's contract. Schreckengost played without shin guards and was one of the last major-league catchers to do so.

Though Schreckengost made his last major-league appearance in 1908, he spent the next two years in the minor leagues. He died of uremia at the age of 39 in Philadelphia. His battery mate Rube Waddell had died a few months before him.

On January 25, 1909, Chicago’s owner Charles Comiskey traded Schreck to the Columbus Senators. He hit a far from impressive .203 in 60 games. Sold on April 19, 1910, Schreck began the season with Louisville and hit .207 in 71 games before he was traded for Emmet Reilly – sent all the way down to Class D ball, reporting on August 29 to play for the Marion Diggers in the Ohio State League. There Schreck hit .275 in 29 games, and left Organized Baseball.

The Columbus Senators Minor league baseball team was created in 1888 as a founding member of the Tri-State League. After that, the Senators played in the Western League (1897-1899), Interstate League (1900), Western Association (1901), and American Association (1902–1930). The team represented Columbus, Ohio, and played their home games at Recreation Park and Neil Park.

Clipped from - St. Louis Post Dispatch newspaper - St. Louis, Missouri - 22 November 1930 - Ossie Schreck Next to Rube Waddell in Being Colorful Figure, Says Connie Mack. I .dwelt on the eccentricities of George Edward "Rube" Waddell, and I think the next most colorful character I ever managed was Ossee Schreck, the Rube's battery partner, Schreck was a wonderful catcher and the only one I ever had who could handle the Rube's blinding speed. His hands were of massive size and apparently made of steel, for he caught Waddell's fastest pitch with the ease of a boy catching a rubber ball. He was full of tricks and often delighted the spectators by gathering in swift pitches with one hand. As a receiver there were few who could rate with him. He had the mechanics of catching down perfectly.

(more from Connie Mack) - A Tough Proposition - I was too busy at the time to question the owner any more about what Schreck had done but I learned the story from his own lips the next night. It seemed that the year before the Cleveland players had complained about the quality of the steaks served and often they would send them back. As the second order was no better they thought that the same piece of meat had been returned to them. One night Schreck came to a table a little late and one of the Cleveland players told him that he had just sent his steak back but had made an odd cut at the end with his knife so he could identify it if it came to him again. In a minute or two, the waiter brought a steak to this player who examined it and exclaimed, "It's not the one I sent back. I'll take a chance on this." Schreck then ordered a steak and when it came the player next to him looked at it, found the identifying cut and with a laugh cried: Why that's the very one I sent back 20 minutes ago. Schreck excused himself and five minutes later came back with a hammer and nail. Picking the steak out of the plate with his hands he placed it against the wall and nailed it firmly there to the consternation of other guests and the head waiter.

We were motoring home to our vacation cottage when Carl, our driver, alerted me to three Sandhill Cranes foraging in a farmer's hay field. My camera and telephoto were in the trunk so we continued past the field so I could retrieve my gear without disturbing the birds. We then carefully backed the vehicle to the location and I was able photograph these elegant birds backlit by the low evening sun.

Sandhill Cranes are notoriously hard to photograph, they are extremely wary - this has allowed them to survive predation for 2.5 million years ! I was both privileged and thrilled to see and photograph the oldest living bird fossil.

There are evenings when the setting sun is obscured by clouds - this effect creates a red glow if the sunset was to be red in the sky which I didn't see as intense as in this part of Central Europe. And to make things "worse", which I was waiting for those 2 ducks to paddle by a swan made a landing just behind them. - I know, too much to be true :-)

In McColl, Sc. Neither the sun or the writing would move to make a well lit shot so this is what you get of the rusty, abandoned water tower. always sad t osee these as the jobs have left and the little company communities that surrounded them always seem to struggle as they did the 'patch towns' in South Western Pa, when mining the coal was no longer economically feasible.

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,

That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.

For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.

And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;

(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)

It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.

As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?

Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.

And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.

Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:

For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.

And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.

What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.

But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)

Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

After the wonders of Moissac, I drove back North 125 kilometers to the small town of Souillac, back in the département of Lot but still in the old province of Quercy (and in the modern region of Occitania). According to unconfirmed local stories, the abbey of Souillac was founded by Saint Éloi († 660) before it was taken over by the Benedictines from Aurillac in the 900s. From that period, only the Western tower-porch remains.

Less famous than Moissac, this abbey was, for me, at least as interesting, beginning with the church, which has not been altogether transformed in the Gothic style like in Moissac, but retains its beauty and genuineness from the 1100s, as I hope you will see through the photos I will upload.

Sculpture is also at least as amazing at that of Moissac, and even more so in some respects —and it is in much better condition, for reasons that we will explore together as I caption the relevant photos.

Listed as a Historic Landmark on the first list of 1840, the abbey is not on the path to Compostela and was never known for housing any particularly famous relics, which is why the church, dedicated to Saint Mary, has no ambulatory around the choir.

I was very nicely received in Souillac by the local authorities as the photos I took contributed to the documentation of the nationwide crowdfunding project that is in place to restore parts of the church, under the ægis of the Fondation du Patrimoine (Mission Bern), for which I work as a pro bono photographer: www.fondation-patrimoine.org/les-projets/abbatiale-sainte....

On the other side of the western portal, opposite to the magnificent sculpture of Prophet Isaiah, is a representation of another prophet, Hosea.

This was undoubtedly sculpted by the same hand as Isaiah, but seem somewhat unfinished compared to that outstanding achievement, and of course it was severely damaged.

CRITIQUES IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER:

Candelaria: This is a really nice take on the theme! I was hoping some girls would take the retro maids/housewives rout and im glad you did. The eye contact and expresión is selling the whole fantasy for me, the robot choice is… uncommon to say the least but im not mad about it. I would’ve liked better if your styling was more retro, if only your hair was a 50’s sort of hairstyle it would’ve helped tie everythin together, and also i wish the set was colored different to no bet too “toy” like.

Dawn: Okay i see you took your styling to something more Grease like with the leather jacket and jeans, i kinda like that twist better but the picture as whole falls really flat compared to the rest. The background feels like a random choice, you tried to make it look more futuristic looking but it doesn’t really read as that and something that went with your outfit choice would’ve definitely been smarter since the robot part is really well made that it didn’t need that extras “oomph” on the futuristic side of things. Also some edges around your head and hair are a little suspicious.

Demara: The photography, the lightning, the quality, the editing; everything on that matter is so clear and satisfying to look at, you’ve very much got that in the bag. What is really a shame is the concept of this photo. Mostly some of the choices; the purple fur and glasses are really really random looking, they dont go along with ur pin up dress at all. The backgroung looks like you were in a club of shorts and i honestly thought the hand was discolored but i think its supposed to be a robot arm? More details there would’ve helped to make it look like it like making it metallic looking rather than just plain gray. Overall it’s really sad because your first take on the them was really nice and overall asserted with the full on robot look and with the little heads up i thought the second take would’ve hit the nail on the head but its drawback in reality.

Dua: I really like what you did here! Your overall styling is from my faves of the week with all the details and layers. Your galaxy background is so nice to look at, your posing is also really fun and i like the overall idea of whats going one here. I just really really dont like the random legs, i’m confused at what’s their purpose in the picture and they’re really distracting and break the whole harmony you’ce created. It’s a pity because otherwise this could’ve been the winner picture of the week without them. And also the bottom of your shoes are blending into the shadows making the end of your legs look weirdly cut.

Dylann: Not gonna lie, at first look this was really underwhelming, ¡But the picture have slowly grown on me and i’ve come to really like it! The styling works perfectly and i like the lil boots to help it make it seem more futuristic bu ton that note, is that it? I would’ve liked t osee more futuristic elements added into the picture one way or another.

Franchesca: No words. I am completely in love with this! This is exactly what i envisioned with this theme. You’ve got your references right and you translated it to this future pin up girl. I also commend you with all the effort you put into this picture. Simply stunning, but i do wish you were connecting directly with the camera to fully sell the whole idea.

Janessa: This is a really nice picture Janessa! Your styling is lovely and i like the overall picture, though i’m quite confused at what’s the concept here? Buying non existent clothes? Buyin robot parts? You in a factory of sorts? I dont know but i do know this picture somehow works. I’d just wish there was a clear concept to look at.

Keighteigh: Same as Franchesca i think you hit the nail on the head for this theme with this photo, while your styling is simple the metallic elements really tied everything together. The concept is also really campy and fun which i enjoy, I’d just wish you head was tilted to the side and you connected with the camera better since you look a little lost.

Lily: I was looking forward to this picture since you always do really detailed pictures but this sadly looks like an outake. The dogs feel kinda random, Maybe you could’ve gone for a different setting like you walking the dogs out or something more exciting than you just laying on the floor of your room. I do really like how you nailed down the metallic effect.

Plum: Okay! I like this “robot in disguise” going crazy sort of moment you have going on here, The scissors are a little too big but i’ll let it pass because it kinda works since they’re supposed to be gardening scissors. Your styling is lovely, i like all the little details, you look really rich and expensive. What i’ve been telling you is that you need to take your pictures further away and then crop because right now it’s really zoomed in it’s a little claustrophobic to look at, If there was more space and your legs weren’t cropped this would been on another level!

Priscila: You have the bones of a great picture here, c’mon set! A few girls did the housewive momento but conceptually i feel yours is the strongest. Your styling is lovely! But onto the negatives: looking into detail the picture falls apart, you look really giant for this set, there’s a lot of dead space on top because of how tall you are and the window is really small. i feel if you’ve used a 2001 movie body everything would’ve felt more cohesive together and also you need to put a little bit more of contrast to your pictures since you look kinda washed up while your make up is really bright.

Stella: This is such a nice picture! The styling is sooo pretty! One of my faves this week, your pictures alway have that special touch because you try to find parts of the real world and make them your sets, and most of the times it works but this looks like the side of the road which in another theme like street style or something along those lines but for a theme that’s retro future this doesn’t read as neither. I do like the little robot dog to bring the future part into the picture but i also wish you would’ve implemented something more than this background texture. Maybe some robot parts/details edited into you would’ve helped on that part.

Szoke: This futuristic room with all the cool lighting sort of setting is really interesting and sets you apart from the rest, But i’m kinda confused about the styling? I don’t feel it’s doing you any favors, i feel you found this silver dress and just went ahead with it because it shape doesn’t reminisce anything from the past and it’s not customized/styled enough to look like something from the future.

Veronica: I’m pleasantly surprised about thsi picture! It’s quite Good, i really enjoy at whats going on here, and i love all the details that went into making you look like a robot, i wish you would’ve went all the way and you had the metallic look on. Also you need to have more contrast beacuse your hair and clothing is looking kinda washed up while your eyes are really Sharp and colored, it is not consistent.
