The Pochaiv Lavra of God's Mother Dormition is an Orthodox Monastery in Poczajów, Ukraine. It is under the jurisdiction of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, the most important center of Orthodox monastic life in Volhynia and Ukraine.
The history of the monastery dates back to the 13th and even the 12th century. Initially, there was a hermitage here, then an Orthodox monastery, then a Uniate Basilian monastery and again an Orthodox church of the Moscow rite. Its history is turbulent, as is the political history of these lands.

Ławra Poczajowska Zaśnięcia Matki Bożej w Poczajowie jest prawosławnym klasztorem w Poczajowie na Ukrainie. Podlega jurysdykcji Ukraińskiego Kościoła Prawosławnego Patriarchatu Moskiewskiego, najważniejszy ośrodek prawosławnego życia monastycznego na Wołyniu i Ukrainie.
Historia monastyru sięga XIII wieku a nawet XII wieku.

St. Nicholas Church on the Water. Kyiv
The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker on the Waters is an Orthodox church on the Dnieper near the Podol embankment in Kyiv. It’s the first and only temple in Ukraine, located in the water area. Its height is 23 meters. A 15-meter bridge approaches the church from the shore. The church can accommodate about 50 people
At the beginning of the 20th century, there was a Russian-style chapel of St. Nicholas on the Kyiv river pier, built at the expense of the city's water rescue society, and destroyed in the 1930s. Temples on the waters are traditionally considered monuments to the dead rivermen and sailors.
The construction of the church began on December 19, 2003 on the day of St. Nicholas and was carried out at the expense of the Ukrrichflot company. The authors of the project are Yuri Lositsky and Elena Miroshnichenko.
In 2004, the church of St. Nicholas was built on alluvial soil. The consecration took place on July 7, 2004, on the feast of the Nativity of John the Baptist, by Vladimir (Sabodan), Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine.
The icon of St. Nicholas, which is over 200 years old, is kept in the temple.
The shape of the temple slightly resembles a candle of a flowering chestnut tree.

The Pokrovsky Monastery is clearly visible from different angles, and the cathedral of the same name dominates from any perspective. Built between 1510 and 1518, it is surprising that no information has been preserved about the creators of such a remarkable architectural masterpiece. The cathedral is even more beautiful up close.
The newly built Greek Orthodox Church of John the Baptist.
The religious sites in the Wadi Al-Kharrar area were gradually abandoned from the time of the Muslim conquest, in the middle of the 7th century. Pilgrims from Jerusalem no longer ventured across the Jordan River, so they commemorated the baptism of Jesus near Qasr Al-Yehud on the western bank.
This site is marked by the large medieval-era Greek Orthodox Monastery of St John the Baptist, built on Byzantine ruins and clearly visible from across the river.
Access to the area around Qasr Al-Yehud has also been difficult in modern times. From 1967 until 1994 it was also in a military zone and heavily mined. It was open only twice a year for pilgrims celebrating their feasts of the baptism of Christ, in January for the Orthodox and October for the Catholics. In 2011 it was opened to the public.
By the end of 2018, access to three of the seven monasteries in the area — Greek Orthodox, Ethiopian and Franciscan (Catholic) — had been cleared of mines.
While Qasr Al-Yehud was inaccessible, the long-established Kibbutz Kinneret began running a substitute site at Yardenit, near the southern end of the Sea of Galilee, with modern facilities and shady eucalyptus trees. It has been receiving more than half a million visitors a year, many receiving baptism or renewing their baptismal promises in the Jordan River.
