I see these lions at the end of a drive way on my route to work every day. I always laugh a little because I recently read a novel that joked about tacky lion sculptures guarding the entrance to a house. Today I decided to stop by and snap a few shots.

I processed this one into three different looks: one true(r) to the original colors, one in black and white, and one in a gold split tone. Thoughts?

VIA train 26 heads east toward Montreal, passing a matched set of CP containers on an eastbound CPKC freight. The trailing P42, 901, is still wearing its as-delivered paint scheme. Most P42s have since been repainted into the new silver and yellow livery.

This yummy original postcard was given to me by artist Michael Bonfiglio. The colour is almost cotton candy pink, and the little skully man is stirring hisself up some violin. If you like this you should check out his Flickr photostream at michael lalala.

This is a copy of an image I posted Yesterday, this one is in its original form without the graduated BW filter added.

Over two hundred years separate these two forms of transport. The Leeds - Liverpool Canal and Virgin Trains East Cost Class 91, which itself will soon be history.

On a beautiful summer morning 91113 passes the Kirkstall Forge Staircase, which are Locks Number 8 to 10 on the canal from Leeds, which by canal is 4 miles, 1 furlong and a further 6 locks, a leisurely journey, by comparison the 91 will be in Leeds in 7 minutes.

This shot to capture a Class 91 here has been on my hit list for this year, the daily Virgin working from Bradford Forster Square runs later on a Saturday with a 07:33 departure (06:44 Weekdays), depending upon when the Azuma is introduced, this may be the last summer of operation.

Red Crayon Suicide Note

I was the lost child-beaten and weak,

Slaped in the face if dare I should speak,

Slave of aggression, victim of pride,

Feeling the lash of the belt to my hide.

With nothing to gain from my sad little life,

Weary from battle, cursing the strife,

I took some paper from out of my tote,

And wrote out a red crayon suicide note.

As I looked at the note, my thoughts began straying,

To books and to birds and prayers I loved praying,

It was then I decided to fight through the strife,

I threw out the letter and fiercely chose life.

Though now grown and successful, I have not forgot,

My journey to manhood-a battle hardwrought,

My love and my time I now gladly devote,

To all children with red crayon suicide notes.

(By me)

A pair of LMX units lead a train on BN’s Race Track somewhere. This was January of 89 and before many of the units received the addition of red to the nose and number board area. Personally I think the addition of red was a welcome change and made the units much more photographable then the solid gray. I caught a number of trains pulled by just two LMX units on this trip including TOFC/COFC trains.

Ich weiß nicht, ob diese bunte Schönheit in Öl einen Namen hat. Aber sie ist mein absoluter Favorit unter den Werken von Jerson Jimenez.
