Instead of spending money you can also decide to fold with it and that's what I did ;-) A little goodby-present for a colleague, who is leaving to start a new job.
If you want to try origami money-folding, you can find several models on youtube. Have fun!
The Origami Iris (also called an origami lily) is a traditional design loved by many. You have two versions:
- One folded from a square, then you get 4 petals ( the one on the left).
- Or one folded from an equilateral triangle, then you get 3 petals ( the one on the right.)
You can curl the petals ;-)) I put them on a mirror so you can see the curls better.
Have a nice Wednesday :-))
“If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.”
Quote – Vincent Van Gogh
“Those who find beauty in all of nature will find themselves at one with the secrets of life itself.”
Quote – L. Wolfe Gilbert
I couldn't choice between the two quotes…….do you have a favorite?
For the "Smile on Saturday! :-)" theme: 'Colorful Hearts', I folded from just one piece of double colored paper this golden heart with a red iris on top of it. ;-))
Wishing you many happy smiles today, they say it is good for your health ;-)) HSoS!!!

For my new folding project I have to fold modules, which will be connected. These modules remind me of eyes. These two were lying in the sun and I could not resist making this shot of these origami eyes;-))
Another variation of the unit and 'Star-Flower', I uploaded yesterday (see first comment box).
Each of these red-white origami Star-Flowers is made out of 8 units, but arranged differently.
The size of one unit is now 4x4cm, red kami paper.
Final size star is 9x9cm.
I really don't know anymore on what occasion I folded it and if there are any diagrams. Sorry for that.
Finally found some time to join the 30 modules together. But.....when I took a break and returned, I saw this face of an owl, so I couldn't resist to take a photo first, before finishing it ;-))
Here you can see the completed origami model by Miyuki Kawamura called "Star Orb" (2013).

Of course I had to make an origami mushroom ;-)
Using the "paper-crumpling" technic by Vincent Floderer, who is famous for using this technique and designing many ingenious models, especially sea creatures.
While you might argue whether it's still origami or not, it is definitely an interesting technique.
Wishing you all a very happy weekend!
"This little witch with her magic broom, which makes the cleaning up after the Halloween Party a lot easier, (it took her only 5 minutes!!) is on her way back home. She looks a little bit tried, but is also very satisfied the job is done!
I wish I had a broom like that too…….. " ;-))
Name: Origami Witch
Design: Kamikey ( please correct me if I'm wrong)
There is a video-tutorial in three parts, so you can try to fold it too, if you want ;-))
Folded from 3 pieces of paper:
-one sheet of black kami-paper (15x15cm) for the head
-one sheet of black kami-paper (15x15cm) for the body
-one rectangle of brownish kami-paperpaper (7,5x15cm for the broom
Normally I don't give the origami models artificial eyes, but in this case it makes it more alive ;-))
Origami is magical, just like photography ;-))
An in-between step of a new model, I folded
I processed it just a little bit ;-))
HSS everyone!
the act of folding 1000 origami paper cranes (senbazuru) is meant to be a symbol of hope and healing during challenging times...and said that the person who does this will be granted a wish by the gods

I bought this tiny pin (diameter is about 2cm) a long time ago at an origami convention and since then it has adorned one of my jackets.
The background is a textured gold foil.

Wishing you all a happy week ahead !!
This is the result of my first attempt to fold the origami Puffer Fish by Jang Yong Ik, (see photo in the first comment box), but I couldn't finish it because the paper I was using was smaller and and therefor the layers thicker, so I knew the paper was going to tear if I tried more folding steps.
So actually, this is also an intermediate step. I've arranged it a bit so that it looks like an origami Sea Snail or any other sea creature with a shell ;-))
I thought you might like to see this variation too.
As mentioned, I only used a 50x50cm sheet of double coloured kraft paper here instead of the 70x70cm on my second attempt.
Final size: length 17cm, width 10cm, height 10cm
Model: origami Sea Snail, unfinished Puffer Fish
Design: Jang Yong Ik, variation by me

An origami composition that reaches a state of near-perfect balance. Two feminine figures face each other in flawless symmetry, suspended in a moment where there is no tension—only correspondence.
Each fold is executed with rigorous precision, forming organic and geometric structures that intertwine without dominance. The crowns, filled with flowers, birds, and faceted elements, reveal a visual language where complexity does not disturb calm—it sustains it.
The environment supports quietly: architectural forms, stylized nature, and symbols of stillness merge into a circular composition that encloses both figures in a contemplative space.
Here, peace is not static—it is structured harmony. It is the union of opposites that do not collide, but recognize themselves as part of the same order.
Now we open!!!!!!!!
Please enjoy!!<3333333333

Just as I was wondering what to choose for MM, an origami owl landed in my mailbox. He now marks the page in my book. In the background is an owl feather.
This is the 2nd time my origami Crane has featured in Macro Mondays - previous photo from 5 years ago in the first comment box below. In 2006 a 7 year old Japanese girl & her family stayed at our B&B, she made this Crane for me & I will treasure it forever. It's a little battered & faded now but not looking too bad for a 13 year old piece of folded paper that has successfully moved house with us HMM!
This article explains about the significance of Cranes in Japanese culture & makes for fascinating reading. The last paragraph is so sad but uplifting at the same time www.jccc.on.ca/origami-cranes/pdf/meaning_of_the_origami_...

Happy Halloween everybody!!!!!!
Juston is the designer of this origami 'Skull', which is an earlier version than his most known origami human skull . You can see that the both skulls are family ;-))
Folded from a 2:1 rectangle of yellow vellum paper .

Missouri Botanical Garden is a great place. Been going there since I was a kid. Then on a school bus in grade school. That was over 50 years ago.
It feels great to be able to get out and go places again.
The featured exhibit is Origami In The Garden. Metal sculptures by Kevin Box.
Of course I got plenty of pix of the Iris, Roses, and everything blooming.

I really enjoyed this frog pattern, it was effective without many difficult folds. I really liked that the front had enough details to get fingers and that the back was kept simple to give a childlike whimsy to the model. I'm tempted to fold it again and try to add toes to the hind legs. But who knows if that'll actually happen :)
Pattern is: "Frog" from the book "Advanced Origami - An Artist's Guide to Folding Techniques and Paper" by Michael G. LaFosse and Richard L. Alexander

The Grandma of my daughter-in-law Keiko made these origami for me as a gift five years ago. I've been thinking about her a lot lately as she's been in the hospital for few months now because of some health issues and old age. Wishing her well.

I made a little present, two pairs of origami earrings, for my niece because she is having her birthday today. The first one you can see here above and is folded from one little square of Washi paper (4,5x4,5cm). The finished model size is 2,5cm.
It's a traditional origami model, called Tato. When you fold it bigger, you can put something inside.
You can see the other pair of earrings here.
