From Mo's Clam Chowder, in Florence, Oregon.

Fall olors on the upper Calapooia River.

The early hours give light to the surrounding beauty as seen anew each day, sometimes in a clam, but often in an array of bursting colors. I particularly like the low-lying fog that holds to the trees and water giving an alluring glimpse of things to come. In this picture, Pat captured sunrise at the old Horton Pond. This pond lies in the Oregon Coast Range Mountains and was used as a holding pond for hand cut evergreen trees at the turn of the century.

Sue likes to bring along a little light reading just in case the paddling gets boring.

11 miles on the Santiam River from the town of Jefferson to Buena Vista boat ramp on the Willamette river.

The T.W. Sullivan Hydroelectric Generating Station was the first in the nation to transmit long range electrical power. To the right, out of the frame, is the Willamette Falls Paper Mill, the first in the nation to use wheat straw instead of wood pulp. Wheat straw, a renwable energy source, is normally burned in the field after harvest.

I was out with a couple cameras yesterday, and ventured onto the Powell Valley to see if any pictures were forthcoming. It morning was overcast, and the sky was washed out, so I used some tree limbs to add color to the sky, and let the mossy rocks do the rest.

I normally don’t like to have structures encroaching into my nature pictures, but I like those old steel bridges, and this one is just green enough to not be an eye sore.

Located up the South-fork of the McKenzie, we find this small cascading waterfall. Lush green moss and pure fresh white-water lets one see natures beauty at it's best.

Along the Columbia River in Oregon

Along the Columbia River in the Dalles Oregon you can see beautiful fall colors in October. This scene shows the lush hillside with the winery's and different crops. The sky was blue with dynamic lighting shinning thru the clouds giving off a blue sheen on the Columbia River.

During my editing process, I wanted to convey exactly what I saw and felt when I was there. It felt like a page out of an Italian wine magazine.

A Glorious Day was this! Just adjacent to this scene was the state of Oregon fish hatchery. My mind, lungs, heart and imagination were all full of The-wonder-of-nature's joy!

Explored February 15, 2014 #475

3 other invasive species were introduced to Oregon, but the Pacifastacus leniusculus is native to the Pacific NW.

We find, "The amber glow" just at sunset here in the Oregon High Cascades. Dart tones, glod to red reflections on the small lake, sets the mood for the next day.

At-least that's what I thought these ducks were doing along the Columbia river slough on another wonderful foggy day in Portland, OR.

Shot with my crappy phone camera, but I like the image.

Fog in the sky and gray water mimic each other in this winter scene in Ontario, Oregon.

Explored a new area that I have never been to in Oregon. Kicking my self now for not going sooner. So beautiful.

11 miles on the Santiam River from the town of Jefferson to Buena Vista boat ramp on the Willamette river.

Another shot from that cold morning up near Mount Hood...

This was the image I used for the holiday print exchange!!! I was extremely happy with the quality of the print.... My next print will be a 24x36 from the new 5D just to see how it looks...I have a feeling I wont be disappointed!

This weekend, Sarah and I traveled south to Portland to hang out with my aunt and her friends. Turns out she has many friends with nice houses. Equals great photographic opportunities for me.

This was shot on the Willamette River from an amazing house boat. The sky was overcast and I was able to use some filters and Lightroom to really bring this image out.

A Lee 10 stop Big Stopper was used as well as a 3 stop hard edge graduated neutral density filter.

Oregon's Metolius River is beautiful during any season but Autumn is definitely my favorite. I scouted this scene, near Bridge 99 last year but never really nailed it. I loved the composition instantly but my love was unrequited. A long branch hanging over raging river, and low light....what could go wrong? Well, nearly everything. I nearly fell into the Metolius several times and I was stymied by wind on the multiple trips I made purely for this image. Over the course of a full year of loveless waiting, the Metolius warmed to me and I captured this loving, Windless shot. Because I preferred an overcast day and My 4x5 camera required an aperture of 45 to gain adequate depth of field, my exposure times were over 4 seconds. I absolutely could not believe how still the air was but I'm thrilled with the result! Technical capture, height of fall color, windless day and I didn't fall in the River!
