This is what happens when you're supposed to hide in your house but also have a light box that is under-utilized.
Originally meant to be the first in a series of three small birthday presents this rabbit turned out a little bit too big for my liking. However I liked him enough that I wanted to share him with you. In the overall design I tried to keep the parts as simple as possible to strengthen the recognition as being made out of LEGO-bricks for non-AFOLs. The head, both the ears and both the legs are independently moveable.
A big shout out to Ruben Ras for allowing me to shoot a few pictures in his small photo studio (faldio).
Wooohooo! My Foldio2 finally arrived! Can't wait to use this for MOC photography. Happy happy joy joy! #kickstarter #orangemonkie

This is a pair of Vans with Brawl Stars characters. They’re a gift from Supercell, the developer of the 3v3 mobile game.
I don’t make content for Brawl Stars, but I have played it since Alpha. As a “Super Creator” — I make a website for Clash Royale called RoyaleAPI — I receive perks and swags from the company often.
These are the only Vans I have ever owned. They are super comfy. I know that Vans exists as a brand, but I have never bought them myself.
I received this pair as a gift towards the end of 2021, and have been wearing them everyday throughout 2022. So comfortable!
I shot this phto in 2022 because I wanted to share them on Twitter, but I never posted them anywhere — tbh, I have felt somewhat embarassed about what I do for a long time. Most people give me blank stares — the kids would light up knowing who I am, but most people my age would not know who Supercell is and I would often feel ridiculous having to explain / justify why I do what I do. I learned to care less.
These were shot inside Orangemonkie Foldio3 — it‘s a brilliant lightbox that I bought because I wanted to photograph the merchandise I received from Supercell. Often, I have to make designs for the giveaway items, and I prefer to shoot my own photographs for them, because the standard product shots from Supercell don’t always meet my design needs.

All vignettes were built using standard LEGO parts and are modular, meaning they can be connected to create a diorama of the entire apartment using LEGO TECHNIC pins. This was inspired by my favorite LEGO theme: Modular Buildings.
All close-up photos were shot using Orangemonkie Foldio2.

I picked up this Honey Orange Wheat Baguette 蜂蜜橘子麥法包 Paper Stone Bakery, a local bakery in Hong Kong.
It is crunchy on the outside, but chewy on the inside. It’s like carved out baguette filled with oranges. The orange flavor is concentrated into a paste like consistency, but remain in fruit physical form, as seen in the closed-up macro shot.
It has an interesting balance of sweetness and acid. If you’re familiar with the yuzu ice drinks typically served in Hong Kong, then this orange paste tastes a bit like that.
For $31 HKD (~$4 USD), it’s a decent bite for the morning.
Branding — I love the “Bread is Life” tagline on the wrapper. Subliminal messaging is an important branding device. The branding for this local brand did a lot of right without being in your face.

The f/8 macro is better in terms of showing the detail of the food, but the f/1.8 macro with the far shallower depth of field gives a more romantic feeling.

This is what I eat every morning as well as late at night when I need a snack — Greek yogurt, with granola for texture, and dried fruits for natural sugar.
Chobani is my favorite Greek Yogurt brand. I learned about it many years ago ~2006 when I lived in New York. At the time, I was experimenting with frozen yogurt as a healthier alternative to ice cream.
Making homemade ice cream is something that I have been doing since 1995. It is something that I made a lot of. I love making ice cream because most of it is about making the perfect vanilla base and then throwing whatever you want into it to make it special.
The perfect vanilla ice cream I make requires 12 egg yolks per quart. It’s not for the faint of heart. You’d be full with just two spoonful.
To make frozen yogurt, you need yogurt. If you use regular yogurt, you need to first strain them with cheese cloth, which takes a long time. That’s why I usually just buy greek yogurt to speed up the process.
But then I realized that it’s a fantastic product on its own, especially when mixed with granola and fruits. I used to buy all of these things separately, but when I discovered Kellogg’s having this dried fruits and granola mix, I started buy that instead.
Quick and simple. That’s how all food should be.

Messing around with some product photography tests using the Orangemonkie Foldio 2+ lightbox I got for Christmas, a folding lightbox with built-in LED lights.
Some of my initial experiments have been encouraging, but I'm having trouble getting the creases out of the white backdrop and I think the dimmer switch may already be toast :/
