I don't often get the chance to photograph these butterflies. They are constantly on the move and hardly ever land.

I was very lucky with this one.....except I didn't have my macro lens with me !

…… Another garden shot today for my #158 photo on the day, a Rose gets to be my shot of the day. Taken on my Phone in Apple RAW & edited in Lightroom. I was rather pleased with the side/back sunlight here. Alan:-)

I photographed some flowers in my mom's garden today.

After admiring some beautiful iguana pictures here on Flickr I was inspired enough to go back and find this beauty I saw while vacationing in Houston, Texas.

Thank you all for your visits, faves and comments. I enjoy all of your magnificent captures...please keep posting them for my selfish enjoyment. THANK YOU!!!

For the Happy Caturday theme "Patterns".

Tofu's fur may be fluffy but it doesn't have much to offer when it comes to patterns. The only exception is his face with its orange "mask" and the quite clearly visible M on his forehead. Sethi with his tabby fur would have been a more obvious choice for this theme but I had to take him to the vet yesterday for his vaccination and he doesn't talk to me at the moment. :)

Happy Caturday !

Are orange marigolds edible?

Marigolds are used as food as well. The ancient Greeks also used marigolds as food, or rather in it. ... Edible marigold flowers are said to taste either mildly citrusy to subtly spicy to, well, like a marigold. Whatever you think of their flavour, the flowers are indeed edible and if nothing else a feast for the eyes.

Orange Marigold Flower Meaning:

In the language of flowers, the colour orange conveys passion and deep feelings. When paired with cheerful marigolds, orange indicates strong, positive emotions.

One from last year, keep seeing them go through garden but they do not stop. Will we get out in time to photograph these this year I wonder. Taken late evening with the low sun back lighting the butterfly and a little fill flash on front of subject. Kingcombe Meadows, Dorset.

MTM announced this week at SDP40 325 and GN coach 1096 were being shipped to Albia Iowa in the coming weeks for repaints.

A massive private donation is seeing that both 325 and 1096 are repainted in Great Northern orange and green.

The 325 wore the simplified orange scheme for the first few years of her existence. seen here:

www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=114373

Both will return to the roundhouse in time for the 2023 operating season, so I've heard.

Being with the "big leagues" I've mostly fallen out of touch with MTM but maintain a few connections.

Fundraisers to repaint it Big Sky Blue (plan A) were deemed not successful, and the museum is giving the option of refund, reallocation, or hold for future 325 cosmetics.

Seen here are 325 & 1096 at Osceola in October 2018, when I made my last run as a volunteer.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product in a few months.

Honestly, with the chaos that is MTM the past year, I didn't think there was a snowball's chance in hell it would happen. But, money talks and the money wanted orange, even though I, along with many others, was rooting for blue.

Thank you and warm regards, Jane

Warblers have been migrating through my yard. They are feeding high in willow trees so they are difficult to see let along photograph. I have probably taken 200 shots of Orange-crowned Warblers and got half dozen or less that I will let anyone see. Most have been deleted. IMG_6328

For the Smile on Saturday theme "Orange"

My first entry was rather red than orange, so I replaced it with my second choice.

HSoS to all participants

After years of trying and being frustrated that they were always to fast, I finally managed to get a decent shot of an Orange tip. Stoked! Arnhem, Netherlands

I like orange and blue together,

but I would never wear them.

My first attempt at photographing fruit splashing, but it turned out pretty good! I tried it with lemons limes and oranges and this was one of my best photos. (Also for Sliders Sunday - HSS :) )

Back from vacation and I am so glad I took the time to go and get away. It was nice not to worry about photography and just focusing on being and observing the world around me. It's hard for me to be in photo mode under pressure, I just like to work quietly, slowly at my own pace. Vegas is a crazy place, it is very easy to become overstimulated by the noise, crowds, lights that it made me long for quiet and stillness.

Orange and green South African

The Orange-bellied Euphonia (Euphonia xanthogaster), photographed at La Minga Ecolodge near Cali, Colombia, is a stunning example of the vibrant biodiversity found in the Andean cloud forests. This colorful bird stands out with its radiant orange belly, deep blue-violet back, and a golden-yellow crown, perched delicately on a slender branch. The softly blurred green background adds depth and contrast, enhancing the bird’s striking colors while maintaining a natural harmony with its surroundings.

To capture this image, I used the Canon R5 paired with the RF 100-500mm lens at its full 500mm focal length. The settings included a shutter speed of 1/500 second to freeze the subtle movements of the bird and ISO 800 to balance the dim, diffused forest light while preserving the vibrant tones and details. Photographing this euphonia required patience and a careful eye to time the moment just right. This image reflects not only the technical precision behind the shot but also the serene beauty and fragility of the habitat it represents.

Small orange chrysanthemums. I very like them :)

Chrysanthemums, often called mums or chrysanths, are of the genus Chrysanthemum constituting approximately 30 species of perennial flowering plants in the family Asteraceae which is native to Asia and northeastern Europe. Chrysanthemums were first cultivated in China as a flowering herb as far back as the 15th century BC. The flower was brought to Europe in the 17th century. Modern chrysanthemums are much more showy than their wild relatives. The flowers occur in various forms, and can be daisy-like, decorative, pompons or buttons. This genus contains many hybrids and thousands of cultivars developed for horticultural purposes. In some countries of Europe (e.g., France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Hungary, Croatia), chrysanthemums are symbolic of death and are only used for funerals or on graves - similarly, in China, Japan and Korea, white chrysanthemums are symbolic of lamentation and/or grief. In some other countries, it represents honesty. In the United States, the flower is usually regarded as positive and cheerful. In Australia, traditionally the chrysanthemum is given to mothers for mother's day as the flower is naturally in season during Autumn. The chrysanthemum is also the flower of November.

Małe pomarańczowe chryzantemki. Prawda, że ładne? :)

Złocień, chryzantema (Chrysanthemum) – rodzaj roślin należący do rodziny astrowatych.
