For the last Macro Mondays working the themes each day with the renaissance, i knew the face Pareidolia would have to come from wood, in renaissance time the woodworkers finding a face in the wood grain the first thing to determine was was it good or evil. if evil the wood was burnt if good then the craft went on to make something knowing the guarding was with them.

I just returned this week from a short trip to West Virginia. What a beautiful state!

Gisteren een wandeling gemaakt in het Gadra bos bij Haamstede. Veel paddenstoelen en zwammen gezien maar voor de Vliegenzwam was het te laat.

Do you make or take a photo? It’s not derogatory question I’m curious, a bit of fun. The general term is to take a photograph, but that’s too simple for some and try to infuse they own contribution to the process. The great Ansel Adams would insist that he made a photograph rather than took it. I have noticed highly regarded landscape photographers of today using this term. I myself have dropped into the language of making a photo, when I’m rather pleased with the composition I’ve crafted out, but the more I think about it, am I being pretentious. Make means to create, to force, to cause to happen, what if anything in this photo I took last night fit’s that description. The sea stack has been created by thousands of years of erosion, the sea and its movement has been caused by the tide and the dynamics of air and sea currents. Can standing in the right place with a mastery of the gadget in my hands capturing the scene in front me, be described as making a photograph. Did I make a digital image, no the camera did that. Did I make a 20 by 16 print, no my printer did that. At the end of the day I think it comes down to your confidence in your photography, are you creating a piece of art or catching a moment. Myself I think I’m more comfortable to using the verb take, how about you?

My wife and I were visiting the great city of Budapest a few years back. We used the subway on our way to a folkloric show. This was our view as soon as we left the subway station. Needless to say that were a few minutes late to the show. The photo is a composite. I shot the majestic Parliament building first followed by a quick shot of the moon to get the detail. Both shots were combined with Photoshop. I do not recall if the Parliament is on the Buda or Pest side; however, it is a beautiful sight at day or night time!

Daisy with her Christmas bird, currently a favourite toy. She had been playing but stopped as soon as I picked up my camera. The photo represents her playfulness & her instinct to chase birds even though she's a house cat. Happy Caturday!
Jasper enjoys exploring the Superstition Mountains with us. The range resulted from many geologic forces dating back to some intense volcanic activity about 25 million years ago. The Superstitions are composed of welded tuff (volcanic ash cemented by extreme heat), breccia (rock bits smooshed together with lava or welded tuff) and some other stuff like granite. And of course there were some gold deposits which have driven a lot of explorations and legends. So ends Jasper's geology lesson.
For Crazy Tuesday
One grubby, used golf ball resting on one of Peter's favourite hats. We were there! I don't play, but I enjoyed every moment of our visit! Apparently, on the course, they had to have a boy to find the ball, and one to check for snakes. Also, a dirty great big crow- like bird swooped down and removed a ball that was in play - not sure what they did about that!!

Happy Macro Monday.
Trick or treat.
My Mother died in 1996 and she was quite the seamstress. She made this little gem for one of the boys way back when ever. It is 1 1/2 inches in diameter and has a pin on the back and you can pin on your clothing at Halloween. Always makes me smile........

Inhaling a long breath, he gathered his thoughts while packing his things. It was time to move, move far away. He had no idea yet where he was going but there was a dire need to begin, a bubbling desire just ready to rush through the surface. A change was needed; desperately. Suitcase after suitcase was tossed around, countless things discarded.
He came across an old fan that shook his entire momentum. Pausing the erratic packing, his fingers trailed over the metallic wires that decorated the old device, the copper cord that was rusty, worn out and has seen better years. He released a breath as if he forgot to breathe while memories began to flood through his tormented mind. "I tried...I really tried..." he whispered, hand reaching to turn the turbine around, a small creak ringing in his ear like a broken melody.
Forgotten dreams left behind and an unexpected journey ahead. Who knew that moving forward was always halted by a simple memory ready to hold you back to try again. Sometimes having false hopes can shoot any chances of finding something better or taking risks.
That was the moment he woke up from a deep slumber. His eyes wet with tears while trying to remember where exactly he was at this point of time. The thought always occurred, was he really awake or still asleep?
P.S. Bambi made this beautiful fan, all old and glorious with rust and curls of wires that I adore. (I will not reveal what else went on with the making of this but she knows what I am talking about :p) This also inspired me to create an on going series where I will select 1 item she created with love and care to write some surreal stories around. I am so happy that I can see her work come to life and that she allows me to hold her hand through the creation process. Hope you enjoyed the story. :))

The Milky Way over Hawker, South Australia. The forecast was clouds all night but it actually stayed pretty much clear. I did get a thin haze or something in my deep sky pics towards the morning so I gave up. This is from Castle Rock, the wind up there was so extreme I was concerned for the camera. Landscape lit a bit by a 10% moon, I'm not sure if its dust or airglow over Hawker. 3 shot vertical panorama stitched and processed in Photoshop.
