Students from the Colleges of Optometry and Nursing at the University of Missouri–St. Louis and students from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy participated in a Poverty Simulation. The simulation was designed to expose participants to the complexities of poverty. Each student played the role of a specific family member, and throughout each “week,” they had to overcome certain challenges and meet different needs for their family. UMSL faculty, staff and volunteers helped with the simulation.

While touring the University of Missouri-St. Louis Patient Care Center, prospective students listen to college of optometry professors and students discuss the College of Optometry program. The University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry held the 2023 Optometry Showcase on July 28, 2023. The event introduced prospective students to the exciting field of optometry, UMSL, the admission process and how to be a competitive college of optometry applicant. Guests had an opportunity to tour the College of Optometry, speak with faculty and current students, and learn more about the UMSL College of Optometry program.

The practice offers eye examinations, contact lens fittings, glaucoma checks, designer frames, children’s frames, safety glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses.
