The event introduced prospective students to the UMSL campus, the field of optometry and the admission process. Guests had opportunities to speak with College of Optometry faculty and current students and to learn more about the program. They also received tips on how to be a competitive applicant. The University of Missouri-St. Louis college of Optometry held their 24th Annual White Coat Ceremony on Friday, May 19, 2023. Forty-three students who have completed the first two years of the professional curriculum earned the right to begin their clinical education and receive the white coats. The students will be part of the graduating class of 2025.
Fraser Horn, Assistant Professor of Optometry and Pacific alumna (B.S. 2000, O.D. 2004), teaches a Communications course in Jefferson Hall at Pacific University.

On Friday 8 people from the Rancho Mirage Braille Institute went to the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, California. We attended the Shared Visions Art Exhibit. All art was done by the visually impared. Afterward we went to the Orange County Braille Institute for a meeting.

Southern College of Optometry's Community Outreach program provided eye and vision care to Memphis area homeless people as part of Project Homeless Connect today. Sponsored by the Community Alliance for the Homeless, the program provided access to medical care, legal services, veterans' affairs and other important resources at the Cook Convention Center in Downtown Memphis.
SCO faculty members were assisted by interns and other volunteers in an elaborate process that involved checking in participants, performing a checklist of assessments and examinations, and aiding homeless citizens who lack access to the most basic care.

Third-year students of the Department of Optometry and Visual Science of KNUST have been ushered into their clinical years of study through a White Coat Ceremony.
The ceremony saw students being robed by members of faculty and was on the theme: ‘Honing Clinical Proficiency to Address Our Health Concerns: the Transition and the Tradition’.
