Here's a tip if you want to install Fedora Core 10 (FC10) on a Dell Optiplex 745n:

I started seeing the SR0 errors as soon as I booted off the disk. Naturally I assumed I had just had a bad burn and so I burned a new copy of the boot CD. No dice. Same error, same sectors.
So now I'm thinking "Okay, maybe the image file is corrupted". So I download the 650MB image again and burn the disk a third time. Same problem.
"Okay, so it has to be the CDrom drive." I swap that out. No luck.
Ok well maybe I need to put the SATA bios into legacy mode. No.
Maybe I'll swap out the hard drive. No.
Maybe I'll install Ubuntu...
UPDATE
Okay. That was the worst suck ever.
The Problem: Incompatibility between the CDRom drive and the Memorex CD-RW media.
We use these disks all the time and have never once had a problem (least of all on a newer computer like this one). Once I burned the OS to a regular CD I had no problems.
I'm sorry Fedora.
Last December I ordered more furniture to match my desk. 42" desk shell and 42" overhead storage with 2 doors.
The awesome throwback to what I used 5 years ago, minus the Carebear stickers. Laura and I bought two of these at $50 a pop off a Charlotte friend. It has a 300 mhz Celeron CPU, nearly 400 mb ram, several SCSI drives, a 4x burner, a cd reader, flakey usb ports, archaic ISA sound card, VooDoo 2 video card, now running Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Herron! :D
It's my basic IRC box, light browsing, and such. Anything that doesn't require sound, resolution above 800 by 600, or speed. :) Went back to this after my Dell OptiPlex GX-150 mini tower case died after a power outage, which itself was not great but had sound, proper video, and more hdd space in Ubuntu and XP.
A faulty capacitor on a Dell Optiplex GX270 begins it's journey to the electronic componment afterlife. Dell's replacing this motherboard, which died right on the last day of it's warranty!
While I had the Nikon in the office with one of these, I put my 28-105mm macro, and then stacked my +4 and +5 closeup lens (filters) and fired the flash to fill in missing light in the case. There is also a desk lamp shining from above.

Updated PSU, GPU, replaced ram module, added SSD HD and replaced noisy 3.5 HD with a quiet 2.5 HD. Extra PSU cables are tucked on top of the optical drives. Outdated by today's standards, but it is a vast improvement over my old Dell Vostro 220S.

Here's a shot of the Dell Optiplex GX270 board I was given that contained bad capacitors. You can see that most of the capacitors within this picture are bulging.
I believe I counted a total of 14 that were bad and needed replacement.

Dude! I got a Dell. Seriously. My 5-year old Pentium 4 workstation at work was finally replaced this morning with a Core 2 Duo E6750 Dell Optiplex 755. Sweet.
In December 2019 I relocated to Scotland, we bought our house here nearly two years ago. I remained in Devon due to work but am now in a position to work from home.
I planned on turning our loft in to my home office but there was allot of work needed and it was dam cold up there so one of the spare rooms took its place.
Starting our, it was just a spare room that I put a desk. There was a bed and very little space to move or store everything I needed to work so I decided to get rid of the bed and turn the room in to a better space for me to work in.
