I like my eye here a lot...

Optimistic looking claim for this old building in Caroline Street, Longton. Good luck to any potential occupant.

I feel so unprepared for this Christmas. It's hard to stay optimistic about life right now. But in the back of my head, I know it's all wasted energy because there's nothing I can do about it. I can't save everyone, I don't have all the money in the world to give to homeless, animals and the disabled. But that's really what makes me happy, knowing that I made a difference in their lives. So if I can't help them.. what am I good for?

Sorry for the vent. I've just been thinking a lot lately.

Ps: This is supposed to be tacky... I was in a tacky mood. ; )

"He was a very optimistic person, one of those people who believed that whatever the problem, there was a solution. So he would say there's no point spending time feeling sorry, said his wife, Joannie. Johnny Allen Wade was the happiest when he was spending time with his family, especially his two children- Carla, 21, a junior at the University of Oklahoma; and Jarrel, 17, a senior at Edmond Memorial High School. His second favorite pastime was fishing. Wade was an engineer for the Federal Highway Administration. He had gone to work for the government after getting a bachelor's degree in engineering from Prairie View, Texas, in 1975. He and his family moved here from Little Rock, AR., in December 1991.

Was optimistic that the sunset might produce some colour, so rang fellow Newcastle Sundance member Pom (aka John) and ventured the 45minutes from home to Valentine NSW.

Looking across Lake Macquarie - this image taken between the trees towards a public jetty and beyond towards Mark's Point.

A closer look will reveal cobwebs and spiders hanging between the trees, note also the heron in the shallows beyond the grasses.

Not much of a sunset colourwise, but a good time had by all anyway!

Hope you enjoy the views!

Young indian man wearing t-shirt standing over isolated yellow background Hands together and fingers crossed smiling relaxed and cheerful. Success and optimistic

Optimistic a person as I usually am, I can't help feeling a little gloomy: as if mankind didn't have enough problems already, the whole financial system of our World is threatening to come to a complete standstill. It makes me want to cry out loud, as a bad actor in a disaster movie: " WE ARE ALL DOOOOOMMMMED!!!!!"

Feeling much better today. It's about time.

THIS COULD FAIL

An Optimistic Exhibition of Works In Progress

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12, 6-9PM

421 NE 10th Ave

This Could Fail. It can be said of most attempts at greatness in this world, but we choose to see this as a rallying cry. An uncommon call to action.

We are the students of the Applied Craft + Design Program and we are experts in the uncommon. Combining skills in fields as varied as science, dance, graphic design, software engineering, wood, metals, fiber and more with design thinking and design doing, we seek to discover unexpected and surprising solutions both inclusive and exclusive. We follow no prescribed road maps, we investigate ideas, we test concepts and then test again. With such a rigorous practice, failure is always a possibility but when it happens we choose to embrace it, learn from it and let it drive us. To us: Failure is Motivation.

So, we invite you to come and contemplate this theory with us at our annual Works In Progress Winter Show. Featuring everything from collaborative explorations to single-minded inquiries, the show is sure to be a stimulating experience. And you don't want to miss this exclusive access to our awe-inspiring warehouse studio space. We hope to see you there.

The MFA in Applied Craft + Design program is a joint program between OCAC and PNCA.
