The people-powered billboard is a great way to show the power of communities … the importance of collaboration … the strength of connections. It's about how when people come together to work towards a common goal, something pretty cool can happen.
CityCamp Honolulu took place on Dec 3, 2011 at the Univ. of Hawaii Campus Center Ballroom. It was an opportunity to look at turning available City data into novel applications and drive citizen engagement.
This is my neighbour, Vic, working on his shed. I processed in GIMP using the c2g effect on a small radius (5 on an 8 meg image) and then combine normal and c2g layers using multiply. Created a new layer and then adjusted it using curves (and a bit of unsharp mask) to get this effect. Suggests (to me at least) a hybrid of an etching and an Alex Colevile painting look.

Made by 2nd year students from the École Supérieure d'Art d'Aix-en-Provence (France). The challenge was to make a DIY washing machine using only materials available in the sahara.
Only use Windows once a year, for tax prep. It is always an adventure. The errors are ironic, since I have done all kinds of poking at the innards of my Linux machines, like recompiling the kernel or fairly alpha versions of packages. While my Android phone and OLPC have some issues, my desktop and laptop running Fedora are working just fine!
