As with all aircraft, launching and landing are done into wind. The wing is placed into an airstream, either by running or being pulled, or an existing wind. The wing moves up over the pilot into a position in which it can carry the passenger. The pilot is then lifted from the ground and, after a safety period, can sit down into his harness. Unlike skydivers, paragliders, like hang gliders, do not "jump" at any time during this process. There are two launching techniques used on higher ground and one assisted launch technique used in flatland areas:

1) Ours - Reverse launch

In higher winds, a reverse launch is used, with the pilot facing the wing to bring it up into a flying position, then turning around under the wing and running to complete the launch.

Reverse launches have a number of advantages over a forward launch. It is more straightforward to inspect the wing and check if the lines are free as it leaves the ground. In the presence of wind, the pilot can be tugged toward the wing, and facing the wing makes it easier to resist this force and safer in case the pilot slips (as opposed to being dragged backwards). However, the movement pattern is more complex than forward launch, and the pilot has to hold the brakes in a correct way and turn to the correct side so he does not tangle the lines. These launches are normally attempted with a reasonable wind speed, making the ground speed required to pressurise the wing much lower.

The launch is initiated by the hands raising the leading edge with the A's. As it rises the wing is controlled more by centering the feet than by use of the brakes or C's. With mid level wings (EN C and D) the wing may try to "overshoot" the pilot as it nears the top. This is checked with C's or brakes. The wing becomes increasingly sensitive to the C's and brakes as its internal air pressure rises. This is usually felt from increasing lift of the wing applying harness pressure to the "seat of the pants". That pressure indicates that the wing is likely to remain stable when the pilot pirouettes to face the wind.

The next step in the launch is to bring the wing into the lift zone. There are two techniques for accomplishing, this depending on wind conditions. In light wind this is usually done after turning to the front, steering with the feet towards the low wing tip, and applying light brakes in a natural sense to keep the wing horizontal. In stronger wind conditions it is often found to be easier to remain facing downwind while moving slowly and steadily backwards into the wind.

Knees bent to load the wing, foot adjustments to remain central and minimum use of C's or Brakes to keep the wing horizontal. Pirouette when the feet are close to lifting. This option has two distinct advantages. a) The pilot can see the wing centre marker (an aid to centering the feet) and, if necessary, b) the pilot can move briskly towards the wing to assist with an emergency deflation.

With either method it is essential to check "traffic" across the launch face before committing to flight.

3) Towed launch;

The Best Art School in the World

Let the content of your dreams inspire the creation of your art. If you can't remember your night dreams engage in conscious daydreams. Some of the best art lessons come from within. Some of the best landscapes, fantastical characters and themes come from within you. Unwrap the blueprints to neighborhoods inside you and build them up with colors, metaphors, blacks and whites. Build them with your words, your clays, your drawings, your movements. Visit those neighborhoods - located deep in imaginative realms - that eagerly await your arrival. At first these neighborhoods may appear dormant, but that's only because you have forgotten to look with your innermost sight.

Look at these neighborhoods, now, with your most powerful vision. See the people that occupy these neighborhoods. Observe the interesting characters. Listen to their unique voices. Hear them tell their stories and whisper to you their poems. Watch them dance and feel how their dances move you. Allow your new, loving, eccentric and most interesting acquaintances to take you into deeper journeys. Have outstanding adventures and when you return from these adventures, record them, by expressing them, using whatever artistic medium you choose. Then proceed to craft these adventures so that those of us who haven't experienced what you have, can feel what it was like to be there, and also become enriched by what you've learned. Craft them in the ways they wish to be expressed. Respect the independent spirit of your creations. Remember that your art is in constant collaboration with seen and unseen forces. Allow your conscious life to become enhanced by your unconscious journeys. Walk your art. Preach it. It's yours. It's ours.

This free expressive art is not for everyone....In the monumental stairwell between the ground floor and the first floor of the Bleijenburg building, the competing calls of the work Tender like…/Strong like…/Hold me like… by Noor Johanna Remmen (MA Artistic Research) and Shelter by Lotus Rooijakkers (BA fine art). Thematically, the works have little in common. With their performance (made in collaboration with Zeynep Yilmaz, Shana de Villiers, Tingyi Jiang and Aleksandra Komsta), Remmen deconstructs the concept of intimacy and looks for new ways to build queer communitiesI only notice the way in which both artists focus on the color red when I walk up the stairs between the two floors. Below me I see Remmen lying naked and thoughtful in red liquid on two red-stained duvets. Next to them is one of the assistants who sticks her finger into Remmen's navel, who takes it out again and licks it off.

We have no official information yet, but some of us have noticed the disparition of Kylie Jaxxon (owner and creator of The Trace Too) from secondlife and other social medias. Her SL account as been canceled, as her plurk account and yahoo mail, and her blog has been deleted. However her flikr remain opened but with no activity from her from the beguining of july.

We found The Trace Too with almost 2 weeks in arrea and Hippie Bowman and some of his friends could talk with the estate owner and paid for the homestead till the end of july.

Kylie is someone really appreciated by a lot of ppl, close friends or not, for her discretion, moderation, respect and openmind in particular on top of her incredible talent for landscaping and photography.

In 2014 she informed us all that she has leukemia and it saddened us to not have an opportunity to say goodbye.

So we decided to keep The Trace Too alive till the end of August as way to celebrate her and say goodbye no matter where she is and if she decide to come back or not..

Seductive Dreamscape have scheduled several hours of DJ sets at the Commune on the 23rd, Hippie will organize a live concert at the Lagrange point spaceport on the 26th.

An art auction will be organized from the 2nd of august till the 10th at the Trace.

All submission should be sent to Trinity Yazimoto on a flat prim with transfert and mod perms.

All pics must feature The Trace Too.

As this is auction, the piece must remain unique and only one copy will be sold.

All submissions will be exhibited in harmony with the decor of the place.

If you would like to submit a piece, please contact Trinity Yazimoto asap by IM only (no notecard), or flikr mail.

Thank you for your help.

TIME IS UNFORGEABLE, DESTRUCTION IS IRREVERSIBLE

The Sile has been the main link between the province of Treviso and Venice since the Middle Ages.

Since the Middle Ages, mills have stood along its entire course, used both to grind grain and to power industries.

Its calm, navigable waters are used to transport goods from the Republic of Venice to the hinterland. The economy of the province of Treviso is supported by the presence of such an important communication route with Venice.

Ports are built to unload goods, but this isn't enough. Beyond the port, services are also needed, and so are inns and taverns where sailors can spend their wages.

Water transport is growing, and with it, boats are growing, adapting, and improving.

You can't navigate a river with a seagoing vessel. You need a flat-bottomed boat, just wide enough to be stable and roomy.

The Burci were born, large barge-like boats 20-30 even 40 meters long, 3 to 5 meters wide. They were cargo boats but ready to navigate a river with its shallow waters.

We waited for the eagles to fly by our side, but we did not see them on this day. Vicente, the pilot, says that the eagles fly together to the paragliders. I called them, "Lazy Birds"! ahahhahah

Books indeed are a magic lamp that can open a fountain of knowledge to all. This lovely stain glass piece is in the lobby of a public library in southern Rhode Island. Books are for reading not banning. Thank goodness for people who support public libraries and keep their minds open to all cultures, races, genders and support a variety of interests and vies. Hooray for human curiosity, writers and readers.

*Working Towards a Better World

I apologize that this is not the best photo, it is an old one taken off an old website and I have been unsuccessful in enlarging it and keeping the focus. This is however, an important part of my work for my themes "Save the Family" and also now "Working Towards a Better World". I believe that education is important for every human being, in fact it is also important for every family pet. Through education we learn to understand one another better, have an easier ability to cope with life and last but not least an education prepares us for work and life.
