SS Emidio was left on the Pacific coast to serve the local needs of General Petroleum Company. She had the unhappy distinction of being the first US tanker definitely known to be torpedoed and lost in WWII. I think that AI image generation is similar in many ways to photography. The camera itself handles all the fine details, but the photographer is in charge of curating the types of images that will be created.

Ultimately, it is all about maximizing the probability that something good will be created.

This is very similar to AI image generation, in terms of the skills involved and what the human does vs. what the machine does.

You can't compare AI image generation to the process of actually making these images from scratch with 3D software or paint/pencils, where the human controls every detail.

However, I think the process really is very similar to that of photography, as I made the case for above. I think that DALL-E 3 is by far the most powerful AI image generation tool currently available.

Researchers from several American universities had humans and artificial intelligence analyze the conversations of 964 speed dating dates, then compared the reports with the participants’ feelings.

The study published in June 2024 reveals that ChatGPT can detect romantic attraction and even predict whether two people will exchange contact information.

To reach this conclusion, the researchers organized a dozen four-minute dates between 187 students. Eighteen human judges and OpenAI’s conversational agent then viewed the videos and transcripts of the exchanges between young people.

The results showed that the artificial intelligence programs had similar conclusions to humans when deciding whether a person was ready to propose a second date.
