$49.95 carats of genuine Australian Lighting Ridge Black Shell Opal Doublet. Confused? This gem is the opalized shell of an ancient fossilized mollusk. Generally, the gem is too thin and fragile, so it has been augumented by a strong stone backing. The beautiful blue colers and fire are spectacular, but difficult to photograph. You won't be disappointed.

An example of Chris's wire-wrapping. A nice, elegant pendant. An opal doublet surrounded by gold-filled wire.

the colour is ever-changing as the stone would move on a pendant, on a heaving chest..

The flashes range from violet to pink to reds, orange, golds with blue clouds.

I still have to do some final polishing and shaping to complete the stone.

as can be seen scratches from grinding dirt off.. still need to be polished out.

we would be best to start with this photo to describe what is known of in the opal part of the moving tapestry as, rolling flash.

look from another angle and it flashes green golds and blues.

you should have got the drift about how work needs to be done on ---cut polish and shape

I show the full potential of what I am trying to cut into what I wish you could also to try and envisage.

Whatever your view of what I have worked to show you.. the upland viewer.. is the worth you apply.

make your bids.. if you dare.

While back opals, white opals and crystal opals are known as doublets or triplets. Doublets consist of two individual layers and A triplet is similar to a doublet.
