Knew it was coming, didn't even flinch. Now that's a Marine.

I wish all of you talented ass photographers who share their work here on Flickr a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year.

ADDENDUM: When I got this shot yesterday I was so excited. One of my first thoughts was "I can't wait to show my flickr buddies" So yeah, I actually do mean it when I wish you all well, I don't have to know you all personally to appreciate you.

Stay shooting, my friends. ;o)

A little military themed fun. Oorah!

Empire State building shining colors it's patriotic colors. Oorah....

Watching the planetary dance from the location of one of the turning points of America's Revolutionary War. Oorah..

“Artist drawing by North American Aviation, Inc. – When the LEM reaches the 10 mile altitude of its approach orbit it will be traveling 4,000 MPH. The landing engine will be ignited again (8,800 pounds of thrust) allowing its descent. The engine will have the capability of being throttled down to as low as 1,100 pounds of thrust until the LEM reaches a hovering position, 300 feet above the lunar surface. After selection of landing points the LEM will descend slowly to the lunar surface at speeds less than 7 mph.”

FINALLY…this one has been very elusive to even come across, let alone procure. I’m quite sure by the hand of the amazing Gary Meyer.

The NASA photo dolts/dumbasses/doofuses/dimwits/dunderheads (even back then) assigned the same photo ID number to this & an earlier version of this scene.

I think this is most likely from 1964. Interestingly/Oddly - within my collection - I don't have a single artist's concept bearing a "64-Apollo-XXX" photo ID number. Only a few actual photos with such. Hmmm.

A bonus: It’s the image on the picture sleeve of the 45-rpm record, “FIRST MAN ON THE MOON”, narrated by Hugh Downs. I remember Hugh Downs…I watched Hugh Downs, regularly.

Gary Meyer...Marine veteran...OORAH!

THANK YOU Good Sir. Continue to Rest In Peace:

The Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV)—official designation AAV-7A1 (formerly known as Landing Vehicle, Tracked, Personnel-7 abbr. LVTP-7)—is a fully tracked amphibious landing vehicle manufactured by U.S. Combat Systems (previously by United Defense, a former division of FMC Corporation).

The AAV-7A1 is the current amphibious troop transport of the United States Marine Corps. It is used by U.S. Marine Corps Assault Amphibian Battalions to land the surface assault elements of the landing force and their equipment in a single lift from assault shipping during amphibious operations to inland objectives and to conduct mechanized operations and related combat support in subsequent mechanized operations ashore. It is also operated by other forces. Marines call them "amtracks," a shortening of their original designation, "amphibious tractor."

A model thats been on my list for quite some time..seats 8 inside..maybe more if i mess around..here you can see the upper doors open with troops standing ready to dismount once they clear the water..just wanted to show that area so left it open.. support appreciated guys.. Semper Fi do or die OORAH!!!

They fought for us, they died for our freedom... They defeated evil in the face of great odds. Evil, today, is checked by their presence... Remove the American Soldier from history - from the South Pacific, from Normandy, from backwaters around the globe - and you aren't on the back-deck flipping burgers and drinking beer... Stop and think what the world would be like absent the stones in Arlington Cemetery... Better, ask your child, your son or daughter... They live in a country in which soldiers shield them. If they can't answer the question, the American Soldier succeeded, he quietly did his job... History repeats because lessons fade -- wither and die in the wake of spilt blood... But rest assured, the American Soldier knows history -- and he will be ready when the time comes again, when the world needs him, because the world, saved by him, advanced.... And forgot.

Raid: OORAH Charlie

"Running tail-end charlie ain't always the best job, you may not see action but you can always see death. I like point, it always means action. But really it doesn't really matter as it is really a death wish, then again being a marine is a death wish."

I realize that some people cannot stand the Light and the Heat....in my Eyes.......and they must disable comments.......but I love them anyway. 💞

I have come to realize......

Nobilities, indecencies, heroic impulses, cowardly ravings, good and bad, white and black — the mystery of mysteries, the central island of nescience in a sea of science, the dark spot in the lighted room of knowledge, the unknown quantity, the X in the universal problem.

UNIST Operatives infiltrate a Chinese Government building responsible for the storing of documents in an attempt to recover and leak confidential information to the US, which they believe will fan the flames of an already heated situation.

Zeitsev Acutal: Heads up Zeitsev, there are multiple hostiles on floors five through twelve. Exact numbers are unknown. Proceed with caution, over.

Zeitsev Bravo: Copy that. We're on floor seven. ETA at the destination in approximately five minutes. Wait, I see two, no, three SWAT officers. Charlie, Delta, do you have visuals?

Zeitsev Delta: Negative Bravo. We're in the dark here. We're proceeding to the west-wing staircase. There's hostiles bloody everywhere. The building is locked down.

Zeitsev Charlie: What are they even doing here? Has the validity of the mission been compromised?

Zeitsev Bravo: Stay focussed Charlie. Get the intel and get out. Asking questions is only going to waste time.

Zeitsev Actual: I've done some research Zeitsev; looks like the intel has something to do with the Chinese involvement of the Nuclear strike in Tehran. Further than that, I can't say. We need that intel. Command has given authorisation to shoot to kill. Make it count, Zeitsev. Actual out.

Zeitsev Bravo: Right lads, lets show those wankers who's who and recover that information. What is it that yanks say?

Zeitsev Charlie: Oorah, Bravo.

Zeitsev Bravo: Oorah.

This is possibly one of the most parts intensive builds I've ever done. It's certainly wiped clean my tan collection. The story may be a little unclear, so cast your minds back to this scene where Gould's (and ultimately Major-General DeViers') plan to send the US and China to war is explained. This sort of builds on that, with UNIST trying to retrieve information framing the Chinese (deliberately placed) to pass it on to the US Government to further increase the tension between the two nations - sort of like a double agent.

Built for Act 3 of Modern Conflict. This scene continues from this one.

Also Philip, I hope you like my interpretation of your glorious leader :3

My Rifle: The Creed of a US Marine by Major General William H. Rupertus (USMC, Retired)

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

My rifle, without me, is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will...

My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit...

My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage as I will ever guard my legs, my arms, my eyes and my heart against damage. I will keep my rifle clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...

Before God, I swear this creed. My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We

are the saviors of my life.

So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but peace!

The US Marine Rifle Creed was written by Major General William H. Rupertus following the Pearl Harbor attack on December 7, 1941.

The Oath of Enlistment

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same. That I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

I've ever so slowly been knittin' this thing for months. Halfway through I got my Different Lines from Cathi and sorta lost any sense of urgency I might've had. ;) Heh. But it's done now!!!

Marines and sailors competed in the Commanding General's Cup Mud Run at Lake O'Neill June 6 at Camp Pendleton, California. The run is a 10K with militaristic obstacles including a rope net, wall climb and low crawling through a mud pit.

The Commanding General's Cup is a series of athletic events for units on base to compete in. 1st Combat Engineer Battalion were the winners of the run.

I've been feeling quite patriotic lately, so this little scene just about sums up my mood :) I looks halfway decent, though it could be much better if I had any decent photo editing skills
