T dot as is Tamworth, not Toronto!

I had a crazy it’s for a sunrise shot, so I snuck out to this little spot in the middle of nowhere early morning.

You don't always have to have the Milky Way in a night-scape. The rest of the stars shine too!

The clouds were quite solid during the hour proceeding sunset. It was looking like the night was a loss, so I went over to my favourite spot to catch the blue hour at Little Sheguindah lake on the La Cloche Silhouette trail. Was treated with a few nice surprises, the still reflection was one, and later on a beaver surprised me with its sunset swim, passing right by my lens.

This was the product of some begrudgingly early wake-ups. Revisiting this spot was an on-the-fly decision & was very much a good call. With more than enough time to set up I was able to catch moon setting on lumsden hill with very punchy blue hour/twilight colour.

A picturesque night along the La Cloche Silhouette. This image was interrupted by a beaver. His wake can be seen in the lower 1/6th

Another Twilight view of George Lake, this time from a different perspective and season. The higher vantage point and use of a telephoto ranged lens helps define the Quartzite Outcrops. Sharp morning light also helped isolate areas of interest, with shadows covering the lower portion.

A touch of afternoon light colliding with water particles from light passing rain. This effect is usually much more intense during the summer months. There’s a greenish glow, and a natural low clarity when the light mixes with the airborne water.

Another perspective of the Chateau styled home in Lytton park shared yesterday. This was captured in 2020 at the tail end of autumn in Toronto. It was a beautiful sunrise and there was enough overcast to create some drama in the sky. This home always struck me, maybe it’s the stone, or the strong front facade. Whatever it is I find myself returning when the contortions feel right. There are a ton of luxury homes in this area, but it’s the oddities that I think give areas character.

A frequented spot for awestruck hikers and artists alike. One of the most accessible vistas in Killarney Provincial Park, and the George Lake campground. Here a park “Artist in Residence” will hold lessons on interpretation.

A cold winter moonset from Site 42 on George Lake. It was -20 and the sunrise was casting a stunning violet hue over the sky. I’d visited this spot on numerous occasions in hopes of a promising scene. Lumsden Hill and first beaches north rim created an interesting bow-like shape, cradling the moon. This image also gives another insight to the fascinating landscape of killarney, with pink shield rock in the lower right and a commonly seen quartzite hill in the back, part of the La Cloche Mountains.

Towering cumulonimbus entering the stratosphere, with a thunderstorm forming nearby. I missed clouds like this over the offseason.

George Lake is most folks first exposure to the epic landscape of Killarney, and with this setting a rhythm for many subsequent visitations. I hoped in August to see the landscape dusted in snow, lakes frozen and the dramatic change in mood winter provides. Mid February proved the most promising, and this day was one of two days that proved ideal conditions for my photography.

This was a very-very cold winter night along the lighthouse trail. Hopeful the Dipper would rise before the blue hour passed. Luckily Alkaid just made it over the lower tree line to complete the constellation, albeit with a few satellites swooshing by.

Killarney is one of a handful of places in the Ontario Parks organization featuring with an abundance of visually striking geologic features. This view can be seen from a handful of perspectives in the park, and easily from the George Lake campground. I was lucky to be out on a fairly a mild afternoon on the frozen lake. Conditions were great and provided abundant natural lighting situations. I hoped for a day like this for most of the winter season.

A wonderful day exploring the Chikanishing River. Sadly the clouds were only forming to the south, however the post-snowfall conditions still held up. I went out hunting for a scene that spoke to me, these two images are hard for me to keep separate. The shadows and sunlight played quite well together highlighting key subjects.

Woke up to the first humid day in some time. Quickly drove down to catch the view of George Lake draped in thick fog.

Scattered showers over the South La Cloche Range. Killarney Ridge, Gulch Hill, & Hawk Ridge in the distance.

The Wolf Moon, setting early in the morning along the South La Cloche Mountain Range, in Ontario, Canada.

Sunsets from Granite Ridge are rarely lacklustre. Even on the most grey days colour can emerge for a brief moment. This image, like others I’ve shared of Silver Peak & “The Crack” are shot from La Cloche Lookout, the highest point on the trail. It also happens to be one of the best views in the park, and can take as little as 20 minutes to reach from the trailhead.

One of the perfect place for astrophotography in Southern Ontario. The dark skies, especially, in moonless nights reveals a world of countless stars. It is a perfect place to shoot milkyway galaxy.
