We were up early for a Winter Bird Count and found that the moon had not yet set. This is a few days after the full moon (Snow Moon).

The Prince Edward Point Lighthouse, built in 1881, is a squaretapered wooden lighthouse with an attached dwelling. The lighthouse is located on the eastern tip of Prince Edward Point, Ontario. Besides the combined 7.8-metre (26 foot) lighthouse and keeper’s residence, the lightstation also includes a detached shed. The lighthouse was automated in 1941 and operated until 1959 when it was replaced by a steel skeleton tower.

The lighthouse is associated with various shipwrecks that occurred in this area, colloquially called the “Graveyard of Lake Ontario”.

The Prince Edward Point Lighthouse supported the shipping industry, marking a safe avenue for commercial ships travelling through the waters of Lake Ontario for nearly 80 years. The lighthouse marks the only protected harbour for a distance of approximately 60 nautical miles.

The end of the trail at the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory, the lighthouse is a good spot to look for sea ducks during migration, as well as gulls and cormorants. Over 300 species of birds have been recorded on the trails and lake.

A quick stop along route Country Rd. 46 North of Havelock.

We got swarmed with biting flies, but still worth the stop.

She is my favorite owl of the bunch, sometimes co-operative and other days we have to back off so we dont make her fly during her rest time. Special little gal!

Pastural farm scene in Autumn

A scene from last fall in the better times and some good practice using Lumenzia for luminosity masking.

I have enough vault material to rework that I can stay in for many months but cabin fever is setting in and I am wishing for the snow to be gone to do some backyard safari’s.

This shot was taken from the Queen’s Line Road in Renfrew County Ontario at the start of autumn colors.

I took this with my D750 and Tamron 15-30mm 2.8 G2 Lens at 30mm 1/125s, f/11 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz Denoise

West Montrose Covered Bridge, also known as the "Kissing Bridge", is a covered bridge in West Montrose, Ontario, within Waterloo Region and the last type of this style of bridge in Ontario. Built in 1880–1881 by John Bear, the bridge is still used by pedestrians, buggy traffic and vehicles weighing less than three tonnes over the Grand River.

One of my favourite trees is this gnarly old tree, which has survived countless freeze-thaw cycles when it is flooded each spring as the ice melts (hopefully very soon).

It provides protection from the currents of the raceway to ducks and geese, nesting opportunities for passerines, stake-out spots for the local hawks and falcons, and more.
