Not only was the forest floor replete with wildflowers, but the presence of this beautiful White-tailed Deer was an added bonus. She was casually grazing on the ground cover, but was not eating the flowers.

Definitely one of my favorite birds, not only because it is incredibly cute and very friendly, but also because it is a very caring and loving bird.
From the paridae family, (same as the chickadee) they have a very peculiar way of taking care of their young, usually with the help of one of their offsprings from the previous year. How do they decide who stays behind to help is simply fascinating to me!

We only got 1 sighting of the Madagascar Harrier during our month in Madagascar. We were driving down a highway when something flew over the road in front of us and we definitely noticed its bright white tail and larger size.
We quickly pulled over and watched as it soared down into a valley beside us. I figured it was gone but much to my delight, after a few dives, it rose back up on the winds and eventually drifted back towards us standing at the side of the highway. A heavy crop to make this picture but a lucky encounter for sure !
Madagascar Harrier
I love B&W photos - just not the ones I take. I actually took photos all week long with both my camera and my phone of all three cats in different settings and didn't like any of them. They all looked muddy. So I took Ella out to the back yard, plopped her on the table and took a quick photo a few minutes ago. It's the best I could do on a dark morning.
I can't wait to see what others have accomplished with the black and white theme this week!
