Close to Celebrating

(this was a concept for last year when mum has just come out of Hospital and everything was looking remarkably good and positive!)

My Mum is doing brilliantly, she is not long out of hospital and just keeps pushing herself, We've been told by a doctor that things are looking good. Everything seems to be positive, obviously we dont want to be putting up the banners and cutting the cake just yet, but we're close it seems to celebrating the start of our happy ending.

My mum is such an inspiration she's had to put up with a lot of questionable moments from the doctors, but now she's taking control of her own destination.

I am just so happy that i am able to be here, at home, helping out at this time! My mum is adament on getting her strength up for my Graduation, My cousins wedding and then her 60th!!! Got a lot to be thankful and happy about!

[this was rather hard to rewrite, especially now know how suddenly things change but i do hope you it helps to fill in some of the blanks in the project, p.s thank you Rosie for the cake!!!]

We miss out on so much of life when we rush through every minute of the day! Make it a point to STOP, SLOW DOWN, then do some TIP TOE-ING through today. Listen to the melody of the birds. Feel the soft breeze against your cheek. Bend down and pet a furry little kitten. Feel the grass tickling your feet. Give a hug to someone. Take time to savor the small moments of life, for one day they will be the only moments that really count!

EXPLORE: May 1,2009 -- Thank you so much!!!!!

NOTE: Thank YOU each so much for taking time to visit, leave a comment, and offer an invite. I will be away at a meeting all day today, but will have fun catching up with you this evening. Enjoy this day! :-)

Since its the first week of a brand new year completed, i think i'm gonna start the 52 weeks project. idon't think i'm up for the 365 challenge just yet

This was a fun little idea i had in my mind that i really wanted to try, and it came out pretty well :)

Its a new year, and not even 2 months since my mothers passing. readjusting isn't easy, memories and reminders are everywhere i look, from the slippers at the top if the stairs to her seat in the living room where she would perch herself and dance to her favourite theme tunes.

Each day brings with it its own battles and obstacles to overcome, i just have to take it one step at a time. Not expect too much from myself, life goes on and thats what my mother would keep saying, i just got to persevere and do her proud in everything i do, but at the same time not to expect too much from myself, this is no normal bump in the road; i lost my mum, someone who i was extremely close to, you cant easily readjust to that type of loss.

Stairs... steps... to realize your dreams!

How many steps are you willing to climb to achieve your goals, to realize your dreams? When you are truly ready, it will begin with one, determined step! When you are truly ready... take the first step!

In honor of Dr. King, I have created this diagram of a group project. Just like Dr. King, I too have a dream. I hope that someday we can all find a way to work together in peace to create a better world for everyone.

Recently myself and others started a pool designed to help Flickr artists unite and create something together. I am pleased with the energy that the pool has created in such a small period of time. It's amazing what can be done when we all put our heads together. Thanks to all of those involved in the pool!!

This is a diagram of the first of what I hope to many projects to come from that group.

See group thread for more details on this project. Now that I have this template built I can add the two other TravelCams that are in the process of starting up!

I'd love to see more of your from South America, The orient, and our friends down under, get involved. I'm hoping to have this map peppered with little magenta dots by the end of 2006. A dream that hope will become reality!

My friend Prutha is running a half marathon on 16th September, 2007 in Philadelpia to help educate underprevilaged children in India, through Asha for Education. She is training in New York. Help her raise $2700 USD for the cause.

Any amount donated would be great and appreciated.

Here’s where you can donate:

And here’s a link to Prutha’s blog, where she recounts her experience of the training for the marathon, and how she keeps going through the trials.

The Heidelberg Project is an outdoor art project in Detroit, Michigan. It was created in 1986 by artist Tyree Guyton and his grandfather Sam Mackey ("Grandpa Sam") as an outdoor art environment in the McDougall-Hunt neighborhood on the city's east side, just north of the city's historically African-American Black Bottom area. The Heidelberg Project is, in part, a political protest, as Tyree Guyton's childhood neighborhood began to deteriorate after the 1967 riots.

Time for new running shoes?? i think so. But more importantly these sneakers have moved me forward past the last few years mental and physical difficulties. When i could no longer run and was in great pain, these are the sneakers that i wore. From starting to only being able to complete barely a block w/o severe pain , to now able to "slog" 30 min a few times a week. it has been a long Journey, but i know it never ends... ;) and i gladly keep taking it One step at a time!! :)

I believe this is a grandson and father giving their grandfather and father (respectively) a helping hand down the street.

Something about this scene really moved me. It reminded me of what family is really about.

I felt compassion for the grandfather as walking seemed to be a bit of a struggle for him, but in the end he was in good hands. This scene was a reminder to me that although I seldom see it anymore, there is a little hope for humanity yet.

Southern California

Not only sands and gravels

Were once more on their travels,

But gulping muddy gallons

Great boulders off their balance

Bumped heads together dully

And started down the gully.

Whole capes caked off in slices.

I felt my standpoint shaken

In the universal crisis.

But with one step backward taken

I saved myself from going.

A world torn loose went by me.

Then the rain stopped and the blowing,

And the sun came out to dry me.

One Step Backward Taken

Forgive me while I take just a moment to blow my own horn (hey, I don’t get that many opportunities to do so, so better make the most of it) ;-) :

I passed my course, and so gained admittance to first year degree studies at the University of Toronto. The better news is, I passed with a 77% (B+) - (not bad for having messed up on the final exam), and in doing so, achieved the opportunity to attend full time, should I so choose. (You had to achieve 73% or better to be able to do so).

I actually got the good news while standing on the steep and ancient streets of Riomaggiore, Italy - while walking back to our hotel after dinner, we found a wi-fi spot and I was able to log onto the U of T website using my iPhone. Ain't technology grand? ;-)

Anyway - it was a tough go, but I'm rather proud of myself that I went the distance with this...better late than never (although I certainly wasn't the oldest one to graduate this program - last night at our info session, there was a 67-year-old who was all set to start first- year degree studies in the fall!) Now the mindboggling task of choosing courses for next year!

If you're one of those people, like I was, who thinks the possiblity of university has passed them by, I would highly recommend the Academic Bridging Program at U of T. Be warned though - it is no cakewalk, or "easy" way in to the school - on the contrary, students who take this course have to give blood, sweat and tears - you're not only being taught a subject at what is probably second year university level, but you're simultaneously being taught how to be a university student (learning the fine art of essay writing, for example). By all accounts, however, those who graduate this course (and receive one full credit for doing so, as well as admittance to the university), go on to achieve higher marks than someone admitted in the traditional manner. All in all, it was a great experience. :)

more often than not, the path ahead may be uncertain ..... though one may proceed one step at a time or another may rush ahead regardless.
