Mobius strip
Here's one I made earlier.
" A Möbius strip made with a piece of paper and tape. If an ant were to crawl along the length of this strip, it would return to its starting point having traversed the entire length of the strip (on both sides of the original paper) without ever crossing an edge."
"The Möbius strip or Möbius band (/ˈmɜːrbiəs/ (non-rhotic) or US /ˈmoʊbiəs/; German: [ˈmøːbi̯ʊs]), Mobius or Moebius, is a surface with only one side (when embedded in 3-dimensional Euclidean space) and only one boundary. The Möbius strip has the mathematical property of being non-orientable. It can be realised as a ruled surface. It was discovered independently by the German mathematicians August Ferdinand Möbius and Johann Benedict Listing in 1858."
There comes a point when you find out its a lost cause, the whole thing has been one sided

In that case it was more of the second, a moment later they were having fun grimacing at the ugly stranger (me) :)

Burma (Myanmar) is ruled by a military junta. In 1990 Aung San Suu Kyi was elected by the people and imprisoned for the next 20 years after the election by the military.
In 2010 a election was staged to keep the military leaders in their current positions. People are starving and are forced to work.
All the pictures you may see in my stream are very onesided, as it is prohibited to take pictures of the military and the police. Also I just do not take pictures of poor people on the streets and there are a lot of very poor people in Burma.

Our Daily Challenge ... infinite.
The unique symbol for infinity ... the lemniscate ... is based on a real-world mathematical shape ... the Mobius strip! Like an infinite number, a mobius strip (or band) is never ending.
The Mobius strip is named after mathematician and astronomer August Ferdinand Möbius, who came up with the idea in September 1858. It is is famous because it has only one side and one edge and is never ending.
23rd April 2009 at Osterley Park in UK. This week bluebells are nearing their peak.
Great Britain supposedly has around 70% of the world's population of bluebells. The British bluebell has flowers only on oneside of the stalk and hence the flowers hang their heads. It is a protected plant and cannot be damaged or harvested. The other variety (Spanish bluebell) has flowers on both sides of the stem equally balanced, therefore the Spanish type does not bend over.
Every spring bluebell viewing is a popular activiity where ancient woodlands are carpetted in wild bluebells.

My little bookcase runner... I finally got a chance to work on it and finished it today. My quilted lines are a tad bit off, and the binding a bit wonky, but for a first timer I am pleased.
I used the "Modern Quilt" method for binding, which means I top stiched it, rather than the sew-it-on-oneside-then flip-it-and-slipstitch-the-other-side method.

Hope everyone had a wonderful July 4 and a lot of people probably looked at the sky to catch atleast one fireworks somewhere around the country. I did not plan to photograph the fireworks this year because I was not sure how it is going to be if I am not watching it over from Navy Pier. So when we decided to go to Knoch Park, Naperville, I was debating whether to even take the camera and the tripod with me. At the last moment, my wife told me just to keep it incase, I might change my mind. So, I listened to her and I sort of liked the atmosphere over at Knoch park with the Ribfest going on in oneside and the smell of food was making me hungry. I set up my tripod next to the garbage can and barricaded it with two strollers for my daughters. I knew, there was nothing interesting architectural structure to create a silhoutte but the people around would atleast tell the story. I fired one shot after the other using the remote control without really looking how the shots are coming up. There is no time once the fireworks start and you just hope to end up with a few keepers. In the end I was not disappointed as watching the fireworks last year in Chicago was a real bummer. By the time, I was able to set up the correct exposure, it was over.
Another great thing for fireworks to fill the sky is to create composites. These are easy as the sky would be even dark. So these are actually three layered composite shots to make the sky look busy and interesting.

Novices in Mandelay in the morning hours on her daily route. At that time you see many monks and nuns walking through the villages and receiving rice by the people. But all happens without words, there are no questions and no begging.
Most of the burmese people spend some time in a monastry as novice, some of the will eventually stay and become monks.

After a suggestion from my wife and seeing this photo by Jorge Jaramillo, I tried folding a Mœbius strip with a tessellated pattern.
It was trickier than I thought- I used a waterbomb tessellation and reversed the directions on the design at first, which resulted in problems when I tried to connect it. So I had to refold it differently to make it match up at the ends.
Anyhow, this is just something I thought I'd throw out there. I'd like to fold a larger one but it's a bit more work than I think I want to put into it.

Some British businessman started offering balloon trips over the Bagan Area, which is know known for being one of the best ballooning areas in the world.
A balloon flight costs a fortune (10-30 month salaries of a Burmese worker).
The tower on the far right is the Nann Myint Viewing Tower. It was build by the government, that also want 10$ entrance fee. In my opinion it destroys the great view and is not needed, as there are quite a lot high pagodas in Bagan.
With more than 2000 temples in total, there is a chance that everybody finds a spot somewhere to enjoy the sunrise or sunset :)

A kid in the back of a market shop in Bagan. On its face is thanka, a yellowish-white paste from ground bark that mainly kids and women use.
For the kids its mainly used for sun protection, whereas the women use it as some kind of makeup. You might also see it sometimes in Thailand and other border countries around Burma, that took over the use from the Burmese

Siberian Huskies are almost always friendly to other dogs, and this guy really wouldn't hurt a smaller playmate. However, from the perspective of a Chihuahua his playing can be quite frightening.
In our experience, it is usually the Chihuahuas that rules the beaches veraciously.

So, Neville's hobby is dancing. He goes to this dance without sight class, for visually impaired. They do great and have lotsa fun. Then, they got this 24hrTV gig - you know 24hrTV? It's seriously amazing charity fest that takes place every summer in japan, google it, it's so inspiring! Basically, it's all about people overcoming their disabilities and proving that dream can be archived at least at some extend even when you think it's not possible. And it's being hosted by almost every and each actor/singer/musician/artist japan has, every one helps and joins the fun in every way they can.
Anyway, Neville's class got invited to 24hrTV and Pandora Box got to supervise and help them (band playing music, obviously, Kokoro - dancing with them! :D ) and that was how Kokoro met Neville. And completely fell for him from the first sight :'D Poor thing, because Neville's heart is already elsewhere and not going back :')
but there will be more of onesided Kokoro/Neville in the future because drama!!!1

Today, I managed to keep my lazy'ness away and take a small walk outside my house, with my camera.. :) The Weather is sooo AWESOME out today.. It was raining untill 11:00 AM today and then 2 hrs later, there was absolutely no signs of Rain outside....!! The Weather decided to be gloomy still, it was amazing!!!
So i stepped out with my Camera and my Mobile...And to my surprise i found a very cute lil pond with a small fountain near the Railway station...!! And guess what there jus 1 duck relaxing in the water..!! And after seeing me with my camera, neednt ask, yah.. it didnt relax anymore.. it became all active and brisk and decided to give me some exercise! flying around sooper fast from oneside of the pool to the other, and not letting me capture any proper pics of him!! But i managed to get a couple of his pics.. though its the same bird, i like the water this time... i ll try to upload that one tomorrow..!(no defly not today!) I was'nt able to use both my hands this time, because i was on call with my friend :D(thanks to her too for keeping me occupied for the almost whole 2 hrs that i was out! :D).. so managed to click whatever that was possible..!!
Then after the duck, i came across this sweetie pie..!! I Love Squirrels, next to Tigers(no not sitting around next to them literally :D :))))!!!.. He was sooooo cute,.. he didnt notice me first and so was busy behind a small bush digging for something to eat, then he saw me.. gave me a stare for few micro seconds and decided to Run..!!! I totally didnt mind running behind him to get some shots!! :D There were hell lot of ppl in the railway station and in the roads.. I saw them all only after i got a few shots of the squirrel :D (Was not least embarrassed!) .. Every time the same thing kept happening, he will be busy in his own world for few seconds, then turn around to see if someone is watching him, if yes, give a stare for few seconds, and run from one tree to another tree.. or run behind the same tree and watch if someone is seeing him..!!
More or Less it was like playing hide n seek (running n catching) with him today!! :)
Explored!!!!!
Thanks Everyone!!!! :)

This it the portrait of a very nice old lady, that I´ve seen walking back from the local market.
I feel lucky that I could take this picture. She is a fabulous example of the burmese people, making the best out of there life and smile.
Please keep in mind:
Burma (Myanmar) is ruled by a military junta. In 1990 Aung San Suu Kyi was elected by the people and imprisoned for the next 20 years after the election by the military.
In 2010 a election was staged to keep the military leaders in their current positions. People are starving and are forced to work.
All the pictures you may see in my stream are very onesided, as it is prohibited to take pictures of the military and the police. Also I just do not take pictures of poor people on the streets and there are a lot of very poor people in Burma.
The Burmese people are the nicest people I ever met and should be supported, even if I don´t really know how.
The country needs support. I posted some links to some international organizations helping Burma.
Burma is NOT the usual travel destination! Even if I am avoided all governement fees as far as possible (partly in long hours of bus travel) I still can´t say that I am sure travelling the country helps the people or should be boycotted as proposed by some people.
The government just moved the capital to Naypyidaw. When I saw it from the bus passing it, I had tears in my eyes seeing how the "Generals" collect the money building fancy buildings and streets around them with people starving. I was so shocked that I did not even took a picture...
- Unicef
and of a smaller German organisation (I met one of the responisbles during my trip)
This is an incomplete list, I´ve also seen www.doctorswithoutborders.org and there are others.
Please help, the burmese people need it.
