Winterzeit ist Tropfenzeit.

Ich habe mal wieder Lust verspürt und habe etwas herum getropft.

Winter time is drop time.

I felt pleasure again and dripped something around.

Perhaps one or the other comes up with the idea in the cold time.

Vielleicht kommt der eine oder andere ja auch in der kalten Zeit auf die Idee.

While watering my little plant today, I thought it was sick with mold, mildew, or a fungus! But checking online, I was relieved that it's ok. Those white particles are "trichomes".

"Trichomes are small hairs on the leaves of the the air plants which help them absorb water, airborne minerals, and helps them to regulate their temperature. Trichomes are important since air plants do not grow in soil and have traditional root systems. Trichomes can absorb moisture directly from the air, even without the plant having to get damped by rain, mist, or morning dew."

I have no idea what this is. Best guess is lens flare, or bokeh spots. All one shot, in camera, hand held, in the house. I love the 3D look of the pentagons, and think that is from not holding the camera perfectly still.

A female Black Darter Dragonfly.

There were quite a few of these small dragonflies about when we were in Scotland. They are only around 30mm in length.

A Harlequin Ladybird on a Knapweed leaf in our wildflower patch. The Harlequin Ladybird is a non-native, invasive species originating from Asia. It is having a negative effect on our UK wildlife - it out-competes our native ladybirds for food and also eats their larvae and eggs.

This Soldier Beetle (Cantharis pellucida) is only approximately 12mm long. There are about 40 species of soldier beetle in the UK, displaying various colour combinations of black, red and orange.

I was happy to find this female Leaf-cutter Bee nectaring on my Helenium Mardi Gras this afternoon in the garden. Hope she makes use of my bee hotel.

Length 10-12mm.

Dark above but the female has a bright orange pollen brush under her abdomen.

Flies May-August. The female uses her jaws to cut elliptical or round sections from the leaves and petals of roses and other plants. The leaf pieces are then used to make sausage-shaped nest cells in a variety of cavities.

The spider spun her web with pride, a fortress of threads and hunger. But the killer bug came cloaked in stillness, tiptoeing the lattice she thought was hers. One touch with the long fang and the hunter was trapped. One shot of this drama in nature.

Grasshoppers (Orthoptera). The largest native grasshopper species is the green grasshopper (Tettigonia viridissima) with a body length of up to four centimetres and a wingspan of up to ten centimetres. It owes its name to the fact that its head resembles that of a horse.

The eastern diamondback rattlesnake is the largest venomous snake in North America and may reach 8 feet in lenght. Recognizable by its distinctive diamond-shaped🔸 patterns and heavy body, it uses its rattle as a warning to potential threats.

This common species of Flesh-fly is bristly with distinctive red eyes, a black and grey striped thorax and a chequered abdomen. Flesh-flies are attracted to carrion and carcasses. They breed on carrion and are viviparous - the females deposit larvae (not eggs) in the carrion. The adults feed on nectar, sap and honeydew. They are about 15mm in length. I found this one at Low Barns Nature Reserve.
