Belted Kingfisher

I found this challenge difficult... I was never able to get a drop to stay on a petal or leaf, so I thought using an eye dropper would work and it did...

If I would had used a tripod, it would have been a lot easier, but there I was, dripping with one hand and shooting with the other...

plus, using a Lensbaby, I had to manually focus. After many shots, I got this one and had fun doing it!!

"Smile on Saturday"

One of the most picturesque Bristlecone Pines, White Mountains, Eastern Sierras, California. Some of the most ancient living trees in the world are found here and are dated to be over 4,000 years old.

No comment please,

For those of you that didn't have a slice, this one is for you!

The banana decoration is Marzipan.

I was going through my image flies for a competition in a few weeks time and I come across this one taken way back in 2005 with my very first digital camera the Dimage Minolta A1, so I thought I would post it!

(Some recent comments questioning which end is "UP". Well, I won't tell, other than to say when I was photographing one end, someone came up to me and said, those are some nice shots of his bottom.)

Some of the last photos were the B sides, they were not good enough or not the main one, so I left them in a folder. Always wanted to go back and check if there was some good material and I been running on those fumes the last months since... well, Budget and Forecast season.

used pieces of both these images to create one new one shown on next page

One petal!

An old picture that I selected for the group Smile On Saturday for the subject of One Point Perspective. Taken on a pathway leading to the church in Fen Ditton Cambridge.

...and his dog

The weather has been miserable photography-wise, windy and overcast with very poor light.... Here's a shot from Irvine beach taken at the beginning of the year.

Macro Mondays - Double Exposure

#MacroMondays and #DoubleExposure

The image was created by using a multiple exposure function in my camera, Nikon d7200. I took two macro exposures.

I had no previous experience with the multiple exposure.

Macro Mondays: trash

These tulips are a week old and ready for the trash/compost but they are still beautiful and worthy of one last photograph.

HMM to all!

We set out seeking a snow covered waterfall. Koosah Falls seemed like it would be good. Those of you who know the Mackenzie River know this is not Koosah falls, this is the nearby Sahalie Falls. We hiked to Koosah and I may post some from there too, but this one was just too much fun to shoot, I could not pass it up.

If you have been there you know there is a viewing platform for the less brave, and a trail down the hill to the waters edge for the foolish. Why foolish? Well, when it snows, the snow drifts near this very misty falls get a coating of ice from the mist. That makes the hike essentially a slide, a slide that ends in a freezing river. This image makes it look like there is not that much snow, but it sure seemed like a lot that day.

While I was shooting this image, it was the usual wipe, shoot, wipe shoot. But this time it was wiping off ice from the glass. The best part was after I stood there for 20 minutes setting up the shot, when I got up to leave, the camera bag, my jacket, my beard, everything was coated with a layer of ice. Just the price I had to pay I suppose.

quite a bit of rain around here lately, but the light was nice for this one I think...

Have you ever felt Oneness?

It's an awesome feeling

What is Oneness

Well in my head it is

A unity of thoughts, feelings and beliefs

Where you may feel closeness to another being, among other things

Where the Love is mutual

At the same level

Intense

Immensely

You just know when you say something the other one are right on track

You like to do the same

Your attitude is the same

Your personality is the same

It's a blueprint of yourself in many ways

Boring?

For some it might be

For some it definitely isn't

When you have been living in something that doesn't resemble Oneness at all, perhaps quite the opposite - well then this is a blessing

Opposite attracts, they say

Well

In my head I don't think so

At least not if I want my share of love and respect in a peaceful environment

I had originally intended to call this photo "natural vs artificial light" but the mood of this image made me think of the Linkin Park song.

5 years ago Chester Bennington passed away, this is also my modest way of paying tribute to him

Yesterday, on Saturday, we had one day long mini Spring in the middle of the Winter and I could do alot of gardening.

Today, on Sunday the winter has came back:
