I'm preparing for university beginning in September and with that comes Autumn, so I picked brownish-warm colors, and my university building is quite modern-looking, so I felt inspired to do a minimalistic Rainmeter setup to match my coming surroundings, so without further ado here are the skins that I've used to setup this "non-intrusive" theme (took me around 30 mins.):

Enigma [included with Rainmeter]:

- Launcher (under Taskbar) [tweaked via the "Enigma\Options" skin]

- Music (under Taskbar)

Macro Love's Obsidian skins:

- Drive

- Calender

- Clock

Omnimo:

- Taskbar (under TextItems\Topbar\BG) [and this one has been tweaked to not fill the entire screen = "Edit skin", bottom part "h" = 80 and "w" = 1100 for my 1080p resolution]

- Wireless signal indicator (under Topbar\Addons)

- Weather (under Topbar\Addons)

- RAM (under Topbar\Addons)

- CPU (under Topbar\Addons)

- Recycle Bin (under Topbar\Addons)

- joanake has been so kind to share a link to a 1680 x 1050 version of the wallpaper, which I had no link for originally - Thanks!

Also if anyone wondered how I would be launching programs without breaking the immersion and showing the Start menu, I use a brilliant app called Launchy which shows whenever I press Alt+Space and hides again after launching the app that I type in its search bar - Works flawlessly :)

Update 2

It seems I got featured on Lifehacker again with this theme so I just wanted to say thanks for that, I'm glad someone likes it ^_^

I recently revisited my Foggy Moss Theme and felt I could make something else out of it that still kept most of the skins, and then I came up with this split-bar theme :)

To make this I've used the following skins:

Enigma

- Weather, Volume, Uptime, Recycler, Launcher 1-5 and the Taskbar (modded to be shorter and not fill the entire screen width)

Supercolossal for the clock

Uixx for the shortcuts on the upper-left

Omnimo (with the Windows 8 DLC pack)

- CPU, RAM, Speedfan, Network, Taskbar (called BG), Start button and Background (to dim the wallpaper)

And that's all there is to it, some skins require some modding to display the way they do here, but it's nothing serious, I can't program and I hate numbers so anyone should be able to do this, and if not then do ask away, I'll answer the moment I see a comment ^_^

By the way... I don't remember where I found the wallpaper, sorry : / Probably at WallpapersWide, but that page has a big amount of wallpapers, I know, but still you might find it :)

Having been rather busy the last few months I've been unable to work on the development of new Rainmeter desktop screens, so seeing as I finally had the time, this is what I came up with. The 'Order in Chaos' title is my attempt at summarizing the juxtaposition between the violent waves of the wallpaper image as compared to the clean and calming Rainmeter skins in the center of the screen.

For those who might want to replicate my theme, below are all elements that I used in the process:

- Drizzle by ~fadeoffset for time and date

- Flat & Blurry by ~satyajit00 for HDD and weather

- Alli Anew by ~FionnT for the RSS feed (seems he updated the old skin and deleted the one I used - if you really want the old version, I'll be happy to share)

- Pop Menu by ~filipbaotic for the subtle left-side launcher panel that folds out when clicked

- Omnimo UI for the subtle battery indicator (of course not needed if you're on a desktop PC)

- Glatt wallpaper by ~AidenDrew

Update

Thank you to the Lifehacker blog for featuring my theme online! I was wondering why it suddenly had so many views on Flickr >. >'

I got in the mood for some Shadow of The Colossus since I got the HD collection for my PS3 for my birthday and figured I'd put it on my desktop with some Rainmeter skins set up a bit like the picture (at least the clock is :P)

I've used the following skins to make the theme:

- The Supercolossal Clock theme

- iTunes Player 2 for Rainmeter by SieSie on DeviantArt

- Omnimo for the black bar (also available in Enigma), the GPU counter, the RAM counter, Weather, Network and the dimming background skin (makes the picture less bright for my sensitive eyes ;P)

- The PlayStation 3 theme for the four big icons (Home, Pictures, Music and Movies) modded to lead me to the specific place on my secondary HDD partition, Home let's me shut down or restart)

- FRQNCY showing CPU usage in the middle as the bars between Pictures and Music, showing a total of four bars for my 4-core CPU, don't know if it works with 1, 2, 6 or 8 cores though

- Enigma for Volume control, Notes, Uptime and Recycle bin

- The RocketDock is equipped with the Ecqlipse icon pack and I've placed some separator spaces to categorize the different apps according to what I use them for, also I chose to have a blank theme for the dock. The running app indicators are just lines with light edges that I created in PhotoShop, those are very easy to make yourself :)

The wallpaper can be Googled, I think I found mine here :)

I only recently uploaded a frosty winter theme with almost the same looks as this one, I was just not entirely happy with the look so I decided to rework it a little bit:

- I switched out RocketDock for Launchy for a cleaner look

- I use a new wallpaper that feels more harmonic and simple

- The shortcuts in the upper-right corner give me easy-to-access folder links that don't intrude too much

It's available for download in my DeviantArt gallery and on Box :) It also includes a text file with my tips on how to make the theme suit your own setup, just remember to backup your own files before installing ;)

That's it I think :)

Edit:

A user on DeviantArt informed me that the installable file I've uploaded has created some problems for them, I don't know how many it has affected - if it's everyone or only a few - but unfortunately I don't know of any way to "repair" the file so for those who have problems I'll just link the used skins below:

Encoded by ~lilshizzy for CPU, RAM, network and HDD monitoring

Simple Media by ~lilshizzy for the recycle bin monitor

iTunes Player 2 by ~SieSie for, well, showing currently playing music from iTunes

PriceDown Clock by ~hello-123456 for showing the time

UIXX by ~albinozz for the folder shortcuts

Omnimo for GPU heat, weather, power tools and dimming the wallpaper

The dock is an app known as Launchy and functions by searching for whatever you write in the bar

I hope people can make it work now :)

I have a problem with looking at the same thing for longer periods of time so I keep changing my desktop themes even though I'm usually pretty happy with how things turn out, they keep me productive and are simple and neat to look at (imo) but it sort of gets a bit dull when I've looked at the same thing for around 3-4 weeks so here is my current setup as of March 2012:

A simple, rather compact, top bar theme with some shortcuts, simple system monitoring and quick shortcuts to some programs that don't show up via Launchy (invisible when I don't need it ;) )

The top bar look consists of some Omnimo "text items" via the add-on "Windows 8 Sidebar", which is downloadable as an add-on from the official Omnimo site. You can get another top bar skin from Enigma by ~Kaelri as well, but it is not as black as the one in Omnimo, which matches the shortcut skin from UiXX by ~Albinozz better.

The items on the top bar are a mix of Enigma and Omnimo Windows 8 Sidebar skins but I think each theme pack includes the same items so I guess you can choose whichever you like the most (they're mostly identical anyway).

The wallpaper here is called Perfect City which I think matches well with the compact theme since the perfect city for me is one where everything is conveniently placed and easily accessible :P

So there you have it, a fairly simple-to-set-up Rainmeter+Launchy theme, I hope you like it :)

I've filmed and edited a video for your ease and pleasure if you want a visual walkthrough on how to replicate my combination of skins, hope it helps somebody ^_^

I'm a sucker for minimalism so.

Thanks to rainmeter.net and omnimo.info

I wanted a new look so I browsed the web and found these cool white skins for Rainmeter called FLaTTs and Mangotsfield.

The setup beyond those three eyecatchers is pretty simple:

For the clock I use the Tribute skin

The links in the bottom center are called Social Launcher

Then there's Encoded for the weather and recycling bin skins

The two black bars are part of the dynamic CPU-reading FRQNCY skin

And lastly is the background skin from Omnimo with the transparency set around 60 I think, in order to make the skins seem more "front-layer" instead of being part of the wallpaper.

For the FLaTTs skins (music and RSS-feed) I should remind anyone interested in using them too that they must be configured before they work properly! I can't figure out how to get other picture RSS feeds working either, so for the time being I'm stuck with the default InterfaceLift feed which does work... >.>

The Mangotsfield skin is the System-measure box in the lower right corner which doesn't require any tampering with to work.

The wallpaper should be included in the file I uploaded on DeviantArt (3 lines below), which is lucky because I can't remember where I found it xD If that does not work though, then tell me and I can share it from Google Drive folder :)

Thanks for viewing my theme and do go ahead and download it and make alterations, none of it is my own product anyway!

I had great feedback on my laptop's looks earlier this month so I got inspired to make my stationary look a little like it, though I changed the positioning a little to make the most of the wallpaper visible.

Just like I do on the laptop I use RocketDock for the apps with the Ecqlipse icon pack by chrfb ( chrfb.deviantart.com/art/quot-ecqlipse-2-quot-PNG-59941546 )

The Rainmeter skin is the popular Omnimo theme ( omnimo.info )

The wallpaper is known as "Trifecta" and can be found on InterFacelift ( interfacelift.com/wallpaper/details/2700/trifecta.html )

If you like what I do or have any questions I am more than happy to answer in the comments, also if you are into music, games, maybe need some guidance in gaming, I want to promote the blog my friends and I have started - AllGonG.Blogspot.com - It's fairly light on content at the moment but we're working hard to make it bigger and more interesting, therefore this little commercial We would be grateful if anyone cared to visit, read our articles and comment or discuss things in our forums

Thanks for seeing my picture ^_^

Metro 7 Desktop | ~j3v5k1

So I just had to try out the new Developer Preview for Windows 8 but it still runs so unstably that I decided to reinstall Windows 7 instead which meant that I had to reconfigure my desktop once again, how unfortunate

The recent PS3 beta test for Assassin's Creed: Revelations has placed me in an assassin mood and thus I chose the Everything is Permitted wallpaper created by ~abdelrahman (Wallpaper pack: abdelrahman.deviantart.com/art/Everything-is-Permitted-25... )

I use the ecqlipse icon pack by ~chrfb ( chrfb.deviantart.com/art/quot-ecqlipse-2-quot-PNG-59941546 )

And for the Rainmeter skin I simply use Omnimo (omnimo.info)

This is an updated version of my previous upload of the same name

I just went browsing for some cool new wallpapers and found that black/white abstract pictures go really well with this theme so I figured I'd upload my desktop's 1.1 version of this theme (should probably figure out how to make a working installer file :P)

- The picture I used for the updated screenshot

- Another cool B/W abstract dye wallpaper and here's another one of the same kind but maybe a little less solid

These are the skins I've used for the theme:

Enigma [included with Rainmeter]:

- Launcher (under Taskbar) [tweaked via the "Enigma\Options" skin]

- Music (under Taskbar)

Macro Love's Obsidian skins:

- Drive

- Calender

- Clock

Omnimo:

- Taskbar (under TextItems\Topbar\BG) [and this one has been tweaked to not fill the entire screen = "Edit skin", bottom part "h" = 80 and "w" = 1100 for my 1080p resolution]

- Wireless signal indicator (under Topbar\Addons)

- Weather (under Topbar\Addons)

- RAM (under Topbar\Addons)

- CPU (under Topbar\Addons)

- Recycle Bin (under Topbar\Addons)

- PowerButtons (under TextItems\Extra\PowerButtons)

Here is my new Minimalistic but colorful desktop. I used Rainmeter to do my customizations:

The tags in the middle is called "Hanging Tags" skin by rainmeter. You can find it here: browse.deviantart.com/?q=rainmeter&order=9&offset...

The Text items in the middle actually launch my most commonly used apps and folders. I used the WP7 skin for that: WP7-->TEXT ITEMS-->EXTRA-->MENU.INI. I just copied and renamed the MENU skins to create more than one list. I believe the WP7 skin was part of the whole Omnimo theme that can be found here: omnimo.info/

The recycle bin and the battery indicator is again WP7 for Rainmeter skin.

It's not because it rains a lot in Denmark at the moment but still November always makes me imagine grey, rainy weather and also I simply thought that this wallpaper looked amazing on my screen :P

I'm moving a little away from Omnimo to get a different look so instead I combined some Enigma taskbar skins with some Omnimo taskbar additions I downloaded from the Omnimo site called Windows 8 addons, it also included the taskbar though many other skins include the same kind of bars. I kept the folders and calendar skins from Omnimo as well but the clock can be found in the MidnightBiro skin pack.

Finally the wallpaper can be found at Wallpapers Wide (as always >.>' )

I'm sick with anticipation for the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises but what's probably even bigger for me is the release of Batman: Arkham City which is out next week! So I thought I'd get in the mood with some dark colours and an awesome Batman wallpaper :D

For Rainmeter I still use Omnimo, I can't seem to get enough of it apparently :P

I use chrfb's "Eqclipse" icon pack for my dock

And the Batman wallpaper can be found at Wallpapers Wide :)

A very simple setup fit for the darkness of winter, focused on essential needs and nothing more - I personally use a lot of shortcuts for my interaction and aim for not having to see the Windows Taskbar during my UI navigation. This theme allows me access to Chrome, the Downloads and OneDrive folders on the computer (and everything else is of course within reach from those folders via Explorer) and the 'Make' element opens up Adobe Creative Cloud for me to access all the creative apps. Lastly, for my creative endeavours, it is quite nice to know how much RAM and CPU I am using, thus those meters underneath the battery.

Rainmeter skin credits go to:

The Enigma suite by ~Kaelri

The Omnimo team for the black box backdrop and battery meter

Simple Clean by ~HipHopium for the time and date skin

The wallpaper does not have any explicit author, unfortunately, but I basically set up the UI around the content of the picture.

I haven't made a new theme for a while so I decided to scrap everything and start off from... well, scratch!

This one is, as you can probably see, very connected to the wallpaper. All I wanted was a seamless setup that would seem clean and calm to the beholder so I sort of stripped it down to the only things I really like to have handy. The Home-link goes to my PC's root and provides multiple paths to all other things on the machine while applications and such are already easy to access via the Windows 8 interface. Besides that I like to have the search bar handy so I can skip the step of opening up Chrome (lazy, I know xD). Besides that I guess time is always good to have and weather too. The user account plus uptime is something I felt had an aesthetic to it but besides that I don't know if I would call it necessary :P Also very subtly accompanying the other skins is the Omnimo background skin making the rest of the skins stand out better from the wallpaper - I think I have it tweaked to a transparency of 90%...

[Below is in relation to my DeviantArt page where you can download the theme as a layout file]

To those who might want to download the theme:

I just tried to set the theme up on my laptop and while it did load the skins that were already installed on the machine, everything was skewed to the side even though I run 1080p on both systems. So if you do download the layout you should be ready to drag and drop the skins to where they fit you and your system best - in case you don't already have the skins installed, below is a list of every skin package I've used to make the theme (and the wallpaper is linked above the first time I mentioned it) :)

- Enigma (for the folder link) by ~Kaelri

- Minimal Typography (for Weather, Username and Clock/Date) by ~Lysy1993lbn

- Omnimo (for the background dimmer)

- Encoded (for the Recycling bin) by ~lilshizzy

- WhiteDior (for the Search bar) by ~RidKurn

If you have all these packages installed in your Skins folder then my .RMSKIN-file should be able to install the layout. About the placement of all the skins to your specific desktop... I can't guarantee anything ;(

Thanks for clicking and for any potential feedback ^_^

My first theme of 2015. I was feeling like something new so I scouted for wallpapers online, found this (link below) and made a new Rainmeter theme tailored for it - pretty straight forward really ^_^
