The Ionic order is one of the three canonic orders of classical architecture, the other two being the Doric and the Corinthian. There are two lesser orders: the Tuscan (a plainer Doric), and the rich variant of Corinthian called the composite order. Of the three classical canonic orders, the Corinthian order has the narrowest columns, followed by the Ionic order, with the Doric order having the widest columns.
The Ionic capital is characterized by the use of volutes. The Ionic columns normally stand on a base which separates the shaft of the column from the stylobate or platform while the cap is usually enriched with egg-and-dart.
The ancient architect and architectural historian Vitruvius associates the Ionic with feminine proportions (the Doric representing the masculine)

Gestern war in Berlin ein warmer Herbstsommertag, blauer Himmel und wunderschöne Wolkenformationen. Der Himmel war ein Wechselspiel der Farben und Wolken, ein Augenschmaus für Fotografen.

Yesterday was a warm autumn summer day in Berlin, blue sky and beautiful cloud formations. The sky was an interplay of colours and clouds, a feast for the eyes of photographers.

Hier était une chaude journée d'automne et d'été à Berlin, avec un ciel bleu et de belles formations nuageuses. Le ciel était un jeu de couleurs et de nuages, un régal pour les yeux des photographes.

Mt Diablo state park, Clayton, Calif., May 5, 2017. Across the valley is Eagle Peak, and beyond it, Mt Zion (a quarry) and Black Point. The town of Clayton is mid-right. On the horizon to the right are Suisun bay and the Carquinez strait, leading into San Francisco bay. The sun is setting over Dillon Beach, 50 miles up the coast from San Francisco. Elevation at Olympia Peak is just shy of 3000 ft. Make haste slowly, climbing down after sunset!
This is the place in Olympia I really like to photograph. I took so many pictures of this old Sandman. This time it was windy and cloudy. Sometimes the water is very calm. One and the same place, but always different.
Olympia : is a small town in Elis on the Peloponnese peninsula in Greece, famous for the nearby archaeological site of the same name. This site was a major Panhellenic religious sanctuary of ancient Greece, where the ancient Olympic Games were held every four years throughout Classical antiquity, from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD.. Mir gefiel der Weg als führende Linie durch das Bild bei dieser Aufnahme besonders und die gigantischen Farben mit der schönen Architektur des Olympiastadions dahinter. Was für ein Abend!
I really liked the path as a leading line through the images and the awesome colors of the sunset / blue hour where great with the architecture of the Olympia stadium behind. What a night!
