In the summer of 1976 we had a tour of Europe. Germany, Austria, Yugoslavia, Greece, Romania, Hungary and the GDR. One of the photos we took of ourselves ended up as Frontbilde on a new release of songs from this year.
Here we are 44 years older, (77)
One way to savor the approach to Mont Saint Michel.
Hope you are enjoying a lovely weekend. After days of cold drippy fog, we have a few hours of sunshine in San Francisco today. Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.

This was taken at the Swan Hill Pioneer Museum, a wonderful tourist attraction in Swan Hill on the Murray River which is the border between Victoria and New South Wales. I cropped out the bottom half of the shot as it was full of modern sweets and lollies wrapped in plastic which didn't quite fit the theme. Plenty of familiar old names on those shelves (for Aussies anyway).
Røros in Norway is an old Copper mine town which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The town was completely re-built after being ruined by Swedish troops in 1679. First mining activities started in 1645.
English:
The Gänseliesel (English: Goose Girl, Goose Lizzy (Liesel as pet name of Elisabeth)) is a fountain which was erected in 1901 in front of the mediaeval town hall of Göttingen, Germany. Although rather small in size, the fountain is the best-known landmark of the city. Today, it is an essential part of graduation celebrations, for every student who finishes a doctorate at the University of Göttingen has to climb the fountain and kiss the statue of the goose girl.
Soon after the fountain was erected, newly enrolled students of the "Georg-August" university began to climb up the fountain and to kiss the statue which rapidly became a university tradition. Because the climbing of the fountain was usually celebrated with excessive consumption of alcohol and loud cheers of fellow students and because the number of students largely increased after World War I, police issued a decree in 1926 that officially forbade the climbing and kissing of the statue.
As the fountain has been subject to vandalism, the original statue of the goose girl can today be seen in the Stadtmuseum while the fountain only carries a copy. After a severe assault during the winter of 2004 (malicious arson), the fountain needed to be disassembled and underwent major restoration.

A sensible man will remember that the eyes may be confused in two ways - by a change from light to darkness or from darkness to light; and he will recognize that the same thing happens to the soul. ~Plato

After a long wait in the freezing temperatures we had the first snow for this season. The forzen canal makes it possible for the snow to just stay on the top which I felt would love nice in the vintage tone. So I compose the shot with the title "Back in oldtimes as it snows"
