I found this camera inside an old Airstream trailer home in the middle of the woods.
The place was rotten nearly to the ground so I don't think anyone will miss it. It's banged up and the insides are gone but after cleaning it up it's neat.
It's on the shelf now with my other old camera.
I have bought a new-to-me flash for my DSLR from someone on the internet, but while I was waiting for it to arrive (still not here, but it's not yet been overly long) I remembered I own a decent flash for my old Minolta X700 film camera. This flash probably uses far too high a trigger voltage to use on my K10D without risk of damage, but I figured out a (no-budget) way to use it.
This was at night, with my curtains closed, so my living room was pretty dark. I set the K10D to a 4-second exposure at a few intermediate apertures, and 12-second timer. Push the button, turn off the lights, sit down, wait for the sound of the shutter opening. Then I popped the flash using the little red button down on the base, holding it kind of awkwardly and looking at nothing in particular (it was too dark for me to see anything anyways).
The result is a bit overexposed because this flash has no manual power setting - just on. And I could only hold it so far from my face. Still, a bit of fun messing around, and now I have one (so far) self portrait.
