There are so many joyful things to see and do for a tourist in Rethymno. Shopping, visit one of the taverna's and eat delicious food. Enjoying the beautiful culture and history of that wonderful island of Crete ((in dutch Kreta )). It is all so different then our boring grey buildings in western Europe.
In the old town there are the most shops and interesting things to see. So when visiting Crete, don't forget Rethymno.
Probably the oldest wall (structure) still standing built by foreigners in the USA. Settled by Spain in 1654, this wall was part of the original fortification by the first settles befor the Castillo San Marco was erected in 1672. There are possible viking structures in northern New England but as yet not confirmed.

Street walking Nov 2020, found this classic fountain; literally in the middle of the street. Great to see that something of Antiquity and beauty wasn't removed for motorized traffic. A historic 16th century fountain; Fontana Barchile Di Ponticello. A tresure of a find, best tours are just walking the streets and talking to the locals. I truly miss traveling...
