Happy Slider Sunday
I'm having fun with these compositions. I feel like doing them is going to make me think about angles and positions when I'm taking a shot.
Hope your weekend is going well.

I don't know if this counts as a tree or not. I spotted it on trade day here in Wimberley and thought it looked pretty cool.
I came out the hotel room and was going to walk over to the beach when I saw this jewel with the sign in the window, "Tough Country." I thought, yep, this car has seen some tough country..;) While I was taking some pictures the owner came up to me and said, " It's for sale." I thought to myself, I bet..;) And, probably the trailer and everything on it. I just smiled and walked on.
For those that were interested, the home cloud from W/D works fine. The only problem I'm having is that it's suppose to be on all the time, which isn't a problem during the day but at night the light on it is brighter then you might think and it makes a noise like a computer running. I have everything in my bedroom. So, I'm going to have to relocate the cloud. Will probably move it downstairs
This is from Wimberley, Texas. For a small town, they seem to have a lot of benches sitting around. Which, works well for me. And, since Wimberley is a art community, most of them are different.
Doesn't look like I'll be moving there right away. With those two back to back floods, most of the home owners have moved into the rental properties while there homes are being repaired..:(
The wine tour went well. Kinda funny, everyone said, "the first vineyard's wine was too sour, the second vineyard's wine was too sweet, but the third vineyard's wine was just right..;) Reminded me of the three bears..:) Have a great Sunday
I must have been really sleepy when I posted this. I said have a great Sunday, but I started with happy bench Monday..;) Lets call that a senior moment...:)
This is the Lutie Watkins Memorial United Methodist Church in Llano, Texas. I tried to find some info on the Internet but wasn't successful
Starting Wednesday, I'll be working in San Antonio on the TV set for the new ABC series, The Gospel of Kevin. I just have a little part selling magazines and newspapers at the airport. I won't get rich, but it'll give me something to do..:)
I didn't notice until I started processing it, but it's main sail is missing. Also, it's got Christmas lights laying all over the bow. So, maybe it was the dock Christmas tree..;)
I stuck my daughter in the doorway of the bait house. She'll get a kick out of it when she see's it.
I have a mosquito in my bedroom but I can't find it. Every now and then it'll buzz in my ear. It's probably just waiting for me to go to bed. The little vampire will probably suck me dry tonight ..:)
Happy Slider Sunday Everyone

This is a redo. I saw this process on a tutorial and thought I would try it. I may have over done it..:) Plus, I just really got tired of messing with it. Sometimes I think it best to walk away from a project and than get back to it later. Which, is probably what I should have done here. Hope everyone has a great Sunday
I figured I would post one for today because I'm starting my vacation on Tuesday and I'm not sure when I'll post again. I plan on taking you guys along on the vacation. I've been looking over my schedule and it looks like I may have to extend my trip. I was planning on being back December 7th but I don't see how I'll make that date.
Happy Slider Sunday
Happy Labor Day, to those who are celebrating it. We don't have one until September
As you may or may not know, Texas use to belong to Mexico which, belonged to Spain. Anyway, that's why so many of the historical buildings look like Spanish cathedrals. I was surprised to learn that there was also a settlement of people from the Canary Islands...How did they get to Texas. I'll have to research that and get back to you. Here's a little from the Internet: Bexar County was created on December 20, 1836, and encompassed almost the entire western portion of the Republic of Texas. This included the disputed areas of western New Mexico northward to Wyoming. After statehood, 128 counties were carved out of its area.
The county was named for San Antonio de Béxar, one of the 23 Mexican municipalities (administrative divisions) of Texas at the time of its independence. San Antonio de Béxar—originally Villa de San Fernando de Béxar—was the first civil government established by the Spanish in the province of Texas. Specifically, the municipality was created in 1731 when 55 Canary Islanders settled near the system of missions that had been established around the source of the San Antonio River. The new settlement was named after the Presidio San Antonio de Béjar, the Spanish military outpost that protected the missions. The presidio, located at the San Pedro Springs, was founded in 1718 and named for Viceroy Balthasar Manuel de Zúñiga y Guzmán Sotomayor y Sarmiento, second son of the Duke of Béjar (a town in Spain). The modern City of San Antonio in the U.S. State of Texas also derived its name from San Antonio de Béjar.
I've noticed that some people have posted notes saying," don't add me to a group." Instead of doing that, just go to account settings and under emails & notifications turn off group invitations.
I canceled my coastal vacation this year because I wasn't sure how I would feel in November. If I have my strength back I'll still try to go. They haven't started the treatment yet. So much to do before hand and the wheels move slow.
Happy Week Everyone
Going through my vacation pictures and found several I don't even remember taking. Also, I realized how nice it is to be a photographer. I get to relive my vacation every time I go through my images. I have a friend, who isn't a photographer, and went to Viet Nam. I said great, lets look at you pictures. They have none. I just can't imagine going to a far away country and not taking one picture. They still have a flip phone so no smart phone pictures either.

I've been saving this image just for this weekend. It's Memorial day here in the US and a lot of people have Monday off. It's the day we celebrate those that died in service to there country.
The stone says "Land of the free because of the brave."
Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Memorial Day 2023 will occur on Monday, May 29.
Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season.
Happy Fence Friday
HFF!!
This was a display at the Fredricksburg Trade Day event I went to a couple of weeks ago. I don't know about you, But I could wonder around this place for day..;)
Happy Weekend as well..:)
Happy Slider Sunday
These 2 building caught my eye because we don't really have roofs like this in Texas and they didn't look like restaurants either. Truth is, I never found out what they were because I was passing by in a boat. I'm heading back that way around the end of November so maybe I'll remember to check it out

Happy Fence Friday!!
You think they just forgot it? I always wonder, when I see something like this, what the rest of the story is. Much like when I see one shoe on the trail, what's up with that?
Anyway, hope your weekend goes well. I'm going to be moving into my townhouse. Packing is such a downer..:)
Say hello to Wild Bill Hickok. Not sure why he's such a big deal in this little Texas town but here he is in all his glory..;)
HSS!!
Last weekend, as we were making the tour of the wine vineyards, I spotted this 1948 Pontiac just sitting out in the parking area for no apparent reason. Anyway, it makes great material for a Slider Sunday shot..:)
3m is sponsoring a half marathon that is going to run right in front of my place, which is going to make it a challenge to get out of my place for the hike tomorrow morning. So, it looks like I'll be leaving early for the hike
Happy Bench Monday!!
HBM!!
You're getting the flickr tour of this place so I hope you're liking it. I probably should have spread these out more. Anyway, hope you week goes well.
HFF!!
I went to Gruene, Texas today with my friend from Chicago. Gurene's is a tourist trap of a small Texas town trapped in the late 1800's..;) I took a series of shots so you'll be seeing more of this town coming soon.;) Hope everyone has a great Easter
Yet, another antique store here in Wimberley..;) This one's been around for a while. If you're ever seen the show "Pickers" that's this place. It's just like they found it, without the dirt..;) Nothing's painted or shined up
Happy Slider Sunday
While I was working on this I started thinking it looked very familiar. I'm pretty sure I used this same dock on a different image.
Have any of you been having problems with your fav's sticking? I find myself having to re-fav images all the time. Just wondering if it's something I'm doing are what. Tomorrow is Sunday and I want to get out of the house and do something, just can't decide what I want to do.
Happy Sunday Everyone
Happy Fence Friday
It's almost the weekend. Hang in there ..;) I'm pulling one out of the archives here. Can't believe it's been 8 years since I took this picture. Where does the time go.
Here's a link, www.yelp.com/biz/mickeys-bar-and-grill-aransas-pass
The website says the prices are reasonable but I don't remember it like that ..;)
I went to an art show, here in Austin, Sunday and saw these eyepiece magnifiers hanging down. Than, I realized how cool it looked with the sun shinning on the tent behind the booth I was standing in front of. After that, it was just one of those lucky times, right camera, right lens kind of day..;) Click on image for best view
This isn't a reflection. I shot through the eye glass. It's the tent on the other side
The sign says this is promissory bench. You're suppose to bring your true love up to the top of this ridge at sunrise and promise you're love her forever. I don't know if this actually happens, as I didn't see anyone up there this morning..:) But, I'll keep checking back..;)
This is Blanco, Texas. I couldn't help but notice, that none of the businesses have a sign out front. But only on this one block. Businesses on other streets do have signs. There wasn't anyone around to ask so it'll just have to remain a mystery until I go back there again. Maybe next week.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. I don't know what I'm doing yet.
Still digging through my archives looking for fence shots. This one is from Fulton Harbor in South Texas. Took it while I was waiting for the sun to come up.
By now, I'm sure you figured out or already knew that Galveston is a big tourist town. Anyway, if you didn't, it is ..;) I have to hand to the city, there's lots to do and the city promotes it everywhere. I'll be there the end of November. If anyone wants to meet up there let me know.
Happy Slider Sunday
This is from a shop in Wimberley, Texas called the Cedar Door. From the outside it looked like a antique store, but it's really a shop for ladies..:)
HBM!!
This is from the Alamo grounds in San Antonio. That's where I'm from. I've never liked San Antonio and can't even recall a good a happy moment from when I lived there. Anyway, today is the first time in 40 years, that I've walked around the Historical District and it looks a lot better than I remembered it. Much prettier for sure. SA has embraced tourism in a big way. You'll be seeing a lot of it over the next few days as I took a lot of pics.
Someone asked me if I had a picture of the USS Texas..;) Just happen to have one. I was lucky to get a shot of her because on ot the tour guides told me the ship was being moved soon for repairs and he wasn't for sure that it would be back to where it is now. I have to admit it's not in the best spot. There's nothing around it. The ship has to be your destination and there's not a lot of parking.

USS Texas (BB-35), is a former United States Navy New York-class battleship. She was launched on 18 May 1912 and commissioned on 12 March 1914.[7][8]
Soon after her commissioning, Texas saw action in Mexican waters following the "Tampico Incident" and made numerous sorties into the North Sea during World War I. When the United States formally entered World War II in 1941, Texas escorted war convoys across the Atlantic and later shelled Axis-held beaches for the North African campaign and the Normandy Landings before being transferred to the Pacific Theater late in 1944 to provide naval gunfire support during the Battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Texas was decommissioned in 1948, having earned a total of five battle stars for service in World War II, and is now a museum ship near Houston, Texas. In addition to her combat service, Texas also served as a technological testbed during her career, and in this capacity became the first US battleship to mount anti-aircraft guns, the first US ship to control gunfire with directors and range-keepers (analog forerunners of today's computers), the first US battleship to launch an aircraft,[9] from a platform on Turret 2,[10] and was one of the first to receive the CXAM-1 version of CXAM production radar in the US Navy.
This is Lott Park. Austin calls parks like this "Pocket Parks". Because they are small and compacted and only take up one city block. The city has 20 of them scattered all around town.
Tomorrow, I'm going to be an extra again in another movie. It doesn't pay much, but every little bit helps..;)
HBM!!
I saw this downtown the other day and thought it looked pretty cool
Monday morning I'm volunteering for the Eco Festival in Austin. I do it almost every year. I'm just a tree huger at heart..;)
HFF!!
This just appeared the other day. No signs or anything. So, I guess it was put there for me..;)
We actually got a dusting of snow today. First time since 2010.
Happy Slider Sunday!
HSS!!
This place was so cool. So, I turned around and took a couple of pictures of it scaring my daughter, but I kinda like that part..:) This guy makes a lot of his art work with a chain saw, He's amazing.
The river walk in San Antonio. Just when you thought I was out of shots from San Antonio..:)
Did a photo shoot this evening. I thought I was suppose to be there at 6 but it was 5. Darn, didn't get to help setup..;)
HFF!!
I was walking the streets of this small town and saw a passage way behind some stores so I followed it..:) And, found some small stores that seem to have been forgotten. Than I saw the sign, "More Stores", which I thought was kinda funny.
Have a great weekend. My new job is very fiscal and I don't get home until 7 in the evenings, which is cutting into my photography
...HBM!!
I noticed this restaurant on the way to work and I've been thinking I would go when I found someone to go with. Finally gave up on that and went by myself. The decor was a little more amazing than the burgers..;) But the atmosphere was great, so I may go back again and the burger didn't break the bank.
Thanks so much to those who sent me notes telling me they missed me..;) I missed you guys as well. My job has been very demanding as of late with lots of mandatory overtime. Which, as it turns out, will be very helpful. My middle daughter is a single mom and is having car problems.
Happy week everyone
Saw this on my way home from the park. I was on a country road with no traffic so I just stopped and took the shot. Not sure if you can see the string of lights on it, guess it's an early Christmas ornament
Happy Slider Sunday!!
HSS!!
When I was driving back from my mini vacation on the coast, I was driving through a small Texas town and while I was stopped at a signal light I spotted these old cars just sitting behind a building collecting dust. Sadly, I don't even remember the name of the town..:( Anyway, it made a good slide..:)
I don't know what this means. I saw it on the side of this building while in Rockport. The barber shop hasn't done so well in that location either. But, everything was so colorful, I decided to take the shot anyways.
Yesterday, I went with a friend to be an extra in American Crime: Season 2. I left my house at 5am and didn't get home until after 9pm. Hard to believe it take so long to shoot a scene. Didn't pay much but it was an interesting experience.
This is advertisement for a resort here in Wimberley, Texas. As I've said before, there are a lot of creative people in this town. I did some volunteer photography last night for the Waller Creek group. They had an event on the creek. I'm going to post some of the shots here during the week.
More pics from market day in Wimberley. This tricycle looks like its had some rough miles..;) I think I had one something like this, except mine was red. I don't really remember what happen to it, but it seem like it didn't end well..;)
Nothing real special about this shot. I just like the way it's framed. Here's some history for those who follow history..:)
Arriving in Texas in the mid 1840s, German farmers became the first settlers of what is now known as Gruene, Texas. Ernst Gruene, a German immigrant, and his bride Antoinette, had reached the newly established city of New Braunfels in 1845, but acreage was scarce. Thus, Ernst and his two sons purchased land just down river, and Ernst built the first home in Gruene in early fachwerk style. His second son, Henry D. Gruene, built his home (now Gruene Mansion Inn) and planted his surrounding land with cotton. Having become the number one cash crop, the cotton business soon brought 20 to 30 families to Henry D.'s lands.
