Starting to feel a bit better. This is the last of the shots with the old lock that I bought.

Lock and Key

"Creative photo and title: the pieces attached magnetically to the key can be thought of as past events, people and instances when this key was used. Cool! " per AWLSheep

ancient lock in the Mosque-Cathedral in Cordoba, reinforced by a modern day device of the same function. I believe there can be no doubt about the aesthetical winner, but as always, security goes first ... ;),

Greetsiel is a small port on the bight of Leybucht in western East Frisia, Germany that was first documented in letters from the year 1388. Although originally just a small but picturesque fishing village, Greetsiel has become a major tourist attraction. Over time, large parts of the bay were reclaimed behind dykes, so that Greetsiel is the only port in the bay today. Between the port and the open sea is a lock. Since the completion of the structure, Greetsiel Harbour has been accessible from the sea, irrespective of the tide.

I purchased an old lock at the outdoor Aberfoyle Flea Market the other day. Once Gerrie got sight of it he ended up playing with it quite a bit. I took some nice macros of it before he got so intent on it.

Came across this shot from a few years back. Not sure I've ever posted it here.

“Bridge of the Gods” is the third oldest bridge on the Columbia River, spanning the states of Oregon and Washington and is part of the Pacific Crest Trail.

The name "Bridge of the Gods" originates from a Native American legend. As the tale goes, two competing brothers were separated by the Columbia River. They were reconnected when the Great Spirit built the Bridge of the Gods across the river. When the two tribes began to fight, the Great Spirit destroyed the bridge. The rapids were created from the remnants of the collapsed bridge. The legend explains an actual landslide and the resulting Cascade rapids.
