We often find ourselves driving the backroads of the Ozarks right as the sun begins it’s slow descent behind our many hills. It’s a beautiful, peaceful time of day, and is often the backdrop for old barns or weathered farmhouses. City skylines are amazing and I love them, too, but…..
Originally built in 1910, the Miller barn has been remodeled using some of the same original wood planks. This farm land is still in the Miller family.
Another peek at Big Red, one of my favorite barns in southwest Missouri.

A late afternoon spring shower in the Ozarks….and another look at a favorite barn on the outskirts of town.
A beautiful barn, somewhere in Missouri...
We're leaving this Ozarks season for a couple of weeks and traveling to Canada, and then to the eastern seaboard, visiting Boston and NY. I hope to return with a full camera along with an empty billfold...

This barn is probably one hundred years old and I can view it right out my Great Room window. The farm next door.
I took this while out walking.
Well I waited too long. I always wanted to get a shot of this abandoned barn before it advanced much in it's slow but steady collapse. Looks like last winter burdened it heavily leading to this forlorn state. Probably won't be standing much longer after a few more winter storms.
Located near the town of Palouse WA.
Have a marvelous Monday and week ahead.
Tucked away in a small valley, I see one of my favorite barns surrounded by the colors of August. Coming soon, the glories of autumn in the Ozark hills.

Two rustic & weathered old barns - surrounded by snow, under a golden winter sky...
At a closer look, you may notice a few broken, loose, or missing glass panes. Also, I spotted an old BF Goodrich tire leaning up against the barn, and fire wood stored inside.

Someone took the time and had the pride in their farm to put up that barn decor. Couldn't have been an easy job either! But that was years ago. The farm lies in ruins mostly. The farmhouse is abandoned and in very rough shape. One machine shed has collapsed, still full of old implements. Another is still holding on,still preserving some old farm relics. But the days are numbered for this place, just like the way of life for the small family farm....
This old Wisconsin round barn was in pretty dilipidated shape until recently when a new roof was installed. Too often these marvels of rural architecture are left to their own devices, and the results are heartbreaking. More work still needs to be done to this old beauty, but now it has time, and can be enjoyed by a new generation....
Round barns gained a short lived popularity in the late 1800's and early 1900's because of their perceived efficiency. But the high cost of construction was a obstacle to them becoming popular...
