Majestic Malayan Tiger contemplating sharpening her claws on the tree. Sadly she was humanely euthanized a few months later due to complications from old age. The staff had struggled to keep her limber with daily stretching and monthly laser acupuncture sessions for some time. Satu was 18 years old when she died, which is six to eight years longer than the average life expectancy in the wild.

This is Spirit, one of my favorite Wolf hybrids. She was trained as a narcotics dog, working with the police force to sniff out drugs. Spirit performed her duties with ease, as long as she did not have to give the retrieved drugs back! Based on this behavior, it was suspected that she was partially wolf, and a DNA test confirmed this, so she was retired. I photographed her here, just a short while before she crossed the Rainbow Bridge, being hand fed by the wonderful British woman who founded this Wolf Sanctuary, where Spirit had spent her last 7 years.

As I was putting my camera away before catching the tram, I looked up and saw this lady watching me out of a tram window.
I lifted my camera, pressed the shutter… and her tram moved on….
