Harpa was designed by the Danish firm Henning Larsen Architects in co-operation with Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson

When the official tour to the Westfjords had ended, the group flew over to Reykjavík. Most of us were staying for at least one more day. It did rain on that day and we decided to do a guided tour of Harpa, the concert hall.

Highly recommended. :o)

It definitely is an amazing building.

You can find loads of facts here: www.dezeen.com/2011/08/25/harpa-concert-and-conference-ce...

This is a partial view of the amazing glass facade of HARPA, Reykjavik's great concert hall, designed by Olafur Eliasson. The patterns of all of its facades are changing and ever so mind-bogging. This here looked like an urban bee hive to me :)

Happy Windows Wednesday!

Inside the Horizon, Artwork by Olafur Eliasson

"Like a giant kaleidoscope, Eliasson's work is composed of forty-three prism-shaped columns of varying widths, which are placed along the walkway in the Grotto around the pool. The columns are illuminated from the inside. Two of the sides are covered with mirrors and the third is covered in a yellow blown-glass mosaic. Visitors are invited to walk amongst them, activating an endless interplay of reflections."

A fine weekend to you all, girls and boys !!

Olafur Eliasson at Kunsthaus Zürich

The endless staircase is a sculpture called "Umschreibung" by the Danish artist Olafur Eliasson: Two spiral staircases interlock with each other, creating a continuous loop in the form of a double helix.

The endless stairs by Olafur Eliasson (2004). He calls this work 'description'.
