One of the many views of Okanagan Valley from The Kettle Valley Rail Trail, looking south. The lake is the Okanagan Lake and the lake on the other side of the city of Penticton is Skaha Lake. This picture was taken from the same spot as the previous one.
Okanagan Lake in British Columbia with Penticton visible in the distance.and the Naramata wine area on the left.
We, along with most of Western Canada (and Western US) are in a deep freeze this week. It's about -20C right now, too cold to do much but I had to go out for a bit for some photos!
You can see the "steam fog" rising above the water on Okanagan Lake.
One of my favourite drives in the North/Central Okanagan is along Okanagan Lake's east shore. This shot was taken from Okanagan Centre's Safe Harbour Park. At the beginning of the last century, stern wheelers like the Canadian Pacific's SS Sicamous stopped here. The paddle wheelers transported passengers and cargo to the remote communities along the Okanagan Lake's 135 km length.

Taken from Penticton on a beautiful day while on a walk. My snow tires were being installed for my trip to Comox on Vancouver Is.
It's getting to be that time of year again when a trip over the mountains to Vancouver on the Coquihalla Highway can get a bit dicy. Thankfully, we didn't need the snow tires yesterday on the drive back to the Okanagan.
A squash plant jumps down from our herb garden, (where it shouldn’t have been in the first place), and makes a dash for the Wide Open Spaces.
When it's windy and the water surface is constantly moving, it freezes into these platelets which can get pretty thick and heavy. Eventually they join if it stays cold enough. Interesting to watch and feel them knocking against the pier I was standing on.
A 1 minute time exposure from the Penticton lake shore with a #15 ND filter. The speed boat was photographed separately with my Nikon Z9 on a tripod at 1/1000 second and blended into the photo.
Belated Happy Canada Day to all (July 1)
I was walking along the beach and noticed a lot of trees that had been taken down, some old and some fresh; I half expected to see a Beaver walking out of the forest…… or the water.
