Tindaskagi (in the middle of the phote) is an 8 km long basaltic hyaloclastite ridge in SW-Iceland, formed by subglacial volcanic activity during the last ice age. It is partially buried in more recent basaltic lava flows. Scientists estimate that the glacier was 600-700 metres thick during the eruption.

A beautiful Fall day at Turner Falls and the Arbuckles. Honey Creek flows over Turner Falls and down to the Washita River, not far away. Our beautiful world, pass it on.

As seen from 3430 Road near Irving's Castle to the northeast of Ripley in eastern Payne County, to the north of the Cimarron River
As seen from U.S. Highway 412 between Cleo Springs and Mooreland in rural western Major County. These mesas are sometimes called the Gloss Mountains.
This locally prominent rocky outcropping, known as Irving's Castle, was documented and described in Washington Irving's bestseller "A Tour on the Prairies." Irving visited this site with an expedition in 1832 from Fort Gibson. The site was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
Irving's Castle is located roughly three quarters of a miles east of Oklahoma State Highway 108 and roughly two miles north of the Cimarron River between Ingalls and Ripley. Please see the geotag if attempting to find it, as a number of publicly available directions are a bit lacking.
It is best accessed from the north by taking East 44th Street (unpaved) one mile east from Oklahoma 108 to 3430 Road (unpaved), then taking 3430 Road three quarters of a mile south. The feature appears as a hill to the west of 3430 Road and is visible for the small cluster of eastern red cedars near the exposed outcrop's summit. Visitors can walk about a quarter of a mile on a small rutted path (going westward from 3430 Road) to reach the top.
As seen from the Cimarron County road just east of Kenton that travels past Black Mesa en route to the Oklahoma-New Mexico-Colorado tri-point
The Talimena Scenic Drive is a National Scenic Byway in southeastern Oklahoma and extreme western Arkansas spanning a 54-mile stretch of Oklahoma State Highway 1 and Arkansas Highway 88 from Talihina, Le Flore County, Oklahoma, to Mena, Polk County, Arkansas.
Designated a National Scenic Byway by the America's Byway Program in 2005, the road travels within the Ouachita National Forest along the highest peaks of the Winding Stair Mountains, part of the Ouachita Mountain chain, including the second tallest peak in Arkansas, Rich Mountain, 2,681 feet in elevation. Many of the forests along these ridges, stunted and of little commercial value, were never logged and are old growth. The two-lane road features hiking trails beginning at various points along its stretch and 22 scenic vista pull-outs. There are at least 13% hill grades along the route.

Soft-shelled Turtle The Tamron 100-400 is my favorite walking around. Light and with my D750 I can also get OK landscape shots too. I do own the 150-600 but for pure fun 100-400
Cemetery Patent 110 (more commonly known as Bezion Cemetery) is a rectangular plot of land located on the east side of N4120 Road (County Road 412), also known as California Creek Road, about two miles southwest of Delaware in central Nowata County. The cemetery is west of California Creek on a fairly flat piece of ground on the edge of the prairie. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
Cemetery Patent 110 was created by an act of Congress from unallotted land of the Cherokee Nation. A patent cemetery is public land set aside for the burial of American Indians. These lands were never part of any allotment.
An Act of Congress approved in June, 1913 (38 Stat. L, 77-96) transferred ownership of the patent cemeteries from the Cherokee Nation to the State of
Oklahoma and the Nowata County Commissioners.
Established in 1867, the cemetery was in greatest use in the late 19th century to the 1940s.

Washita Battlefield National Historic Site protects and interprets the site of the Southern Cheyenne village of Chief Black Kettle where the massacre of Washita occurred. The site, a National Historic Landmark, is located about a mile west of Cheyenne in Roger Mills County. Just before dawn on November 27, 1868, the village was attacked by the 7th U.S. Cavalry under Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer.
The strike was hailed at the time by the military and many civilians as a significant victory aimed at reducing Indian raids on frontier settlements as it forced the Cheyenne back to the reservation set aside for them. However, Washita remains controversial because many Native Americans and European-Americans labeled Custer's attack a massacre. Black Kettle is still honored as a prominent leader who never ceased striving for peace even though it cost him his life.
The site was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1965, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966.
Chickasaw National Recreation Area is a National Recreation Area situated in the foothills of the Arbuckle Mountains in south central Oklahoma at the edge of the town of Sulphur in Murray County. It includes the former Platt National Park and Arbuckle Recreation District.
The site was established as Sulphur Springs Reservation on July 1, 1902 and was renamed and redesignated Platt National Park on June 29, 1906. It was combined with the Arbuckle Recreation Area and additional lands and renamed and redesignated on 17 March 1976. Of the park's 9,888.83 acres, water covers 2,409 acres. The park contains many fine examples of 1930's Civilian Conservation Corps architecture. CCC workers created pavilions, park buildings, and enclosures for the park's many natural springs.
The Chickasaw National Recreation Area preserves partially forested hills of south central Oklahoma near Sulphur. Named to honor the Chickasaw Indian Nation, who were relocated to the area from the Southeastern United States during the 1830s (and who later sold the original 640 acres of land for the park to the Federal government), the park's springs, streams, and lakes provide swimming, boating, fishing, picnicking, camping, and hiking. As part of the Chickasaw tribe's arrangement with the U.S. government, the park does not charge an admission fee.
Here's one of my favorite barns from our short drive. I like the way it looks like a face with two eyes, nose and mouth. Of course the weathered wood and rusty metal roof add to the charm.
As usual, I think it looks best when viewed on black.
I appreciate your taking the time to stop by. Thanks!
