Tiger striped maple halfstock percussion rifle, stamped "MADE BY H. RAISON". Henry Raison made rifles in Jelloway, Brown Township, Knox County, Ohio, circa 1862, and in Wapakoneta, Auglaize County, Ohio, from as least as early as 1870 through 1890.
This rifle is approximately .38 caliber, with the muzzle turned round to use a guide bullet starter. It has six groove rifling.
Henry Raison was born in either France or Belgium, in 1833. The 1860 & 1870 census both say France, but the 1880 census, as well as his Civil War draft registration, says Belgium. It is known that he arrived in the United States, July 1, 1846, at the age of 13, and that he had sailed from Antwerp, Belgium on the ship "Stadt Antwerp". He was listed in the 1860 census as a single man, a blacksmith, living in Loudonville, Ashland County, Ohio. He was living in the household of John Bowens, who would become Henry's father-in-law. He was married and living in Brown Township, Knox County, Ohio, when he registered for the draft. His wife was Adeline Bowens, born in Ohio about 1836.
The 1870 & 1880 censuses both list Henry Raison as a gunsmith in Wapakoneta, Auglaize County, Ohio. In 1870 he owned real estae valued at $100; and personal estate valued at $100. I do not know when he died, but his widow, Adeline Raison, was living in Anderson, Indiana, in 1902.

Henry Raison was born in either Belgium or France, in about 1833. Census records conflict on his place of birth. He did arrive in the United States (New York) on July 1, 1846, at the age of 13. He had sailed from Antwerp, Belgium, aboard the ship "Stadt Antwerp". He is listed in the 1860 census as a single, 25 year old, blacksmith, living in the household of John Bowens (who would become his father-in-law) in Loudonville, Ashland County, Ohio. He was living in Brown Township, Knox County, Ohio, when he registered for the Civil War Draft, and was married. The 1870 census lists him as a gunsmith in Wapakoneta, Auglaize County, Ohio. His wife, Adaline (Bowens) was 33, born in Ohio. He was still listed as a gunsmith in Wapakoneta in the 1880 census. His widow, Adeline, was living in Anderson, Indiana, in 1902.

The overall length of the back credenza base/hutch top is 72"long x 78 1/2"H x 22 3/4"D. The length along the right side of the wall is 94 3/4"long. The front executive desk is 72" long x 30"deep x 30" high.

This Ashville double pedestal design was made 42" wide x 72" long with 2-12" leaves. It features a 1 1/2" thick top with the standard eased edge. The top has hand worn edges and rolling hand planing.
