Yesterday afternoon, I BARTed over to Civic Center where Off the Grid was taking place. It's a weekly gathering of food trucks. I wanted to try a cupcake from Cupkates. When I got there, the only flavor they had left was double vanilla, so I got that.

 

The cake part was very good and moist, but I wasn't a big fan of the buttercream frosting. It was thick and buttery like Miette's, but there was a strange bitterness that started to come out about halfway through. I think it was the alcohol from vanilla extract or something. Next time, I'll try the red velvet (cream cheese frosting) or the tiramisu (mascarpone frosting).
