A spring roadtrip exploring the Burnt River Canyon in Baker County
A beautiful day exploring the Burnt River Canyon between Durkee and Unity in Baker County Oregon .
The Burnt River Canyon near Durkee is always one of our favorite drives for taking in the majestic scenery of Eastern Oregon and watching wildlife along the way. Saw lots of wildlife this trip as colder temperatures have pushed lots of deer down into the canyon. We were excited to spot a few Bighorn Sheep this trip and a napping Barn Owl

Overnight camp out in Chiselbury Camp, an Iron Age hill fort on the top of Fovant Down, famous for it's Great War camp badges carved in the chalk of its slopes. A 40+ mile ride from home in Southampton, up to Salisbury via Romsey and the National Cycle Network Route 24, then to Salisbury Racecourse where I picked up the old cattle drove that goes all the way to Shaftesbury.
Dusk falling meant I overshot my destination in the poor light! I rode another mile or two to Ansty before realising my mistake, and had to backtrack, so by the time I reached the old fort I had missed the sunset there and it was properly dark.
The sunrise made up for that though. Up at 5.30 and a short walk to the chalk cap badges while I brewed up some tea.
Back on the road shortly after, keen to get back before the midday heat.

As my friend and I were hiking to a lake in Interlaken, we passed by this group dressed in traditional Swiss outfits and practicing playing alphorn in a random field.

A vast field of sunflowers greet the warming morning sunlight on a farm in the northern California Suisun (soo-soon) Valley; it's an area prized for its rich farmland and excellent weather, with many wine-producing vineyards.
Once a massive and beautifully constructed public pool/convention hall/spa, the Sutro Baths now lies in ruins.
But luckily, the city of San Francisco has made it available for public exploration. We were quite surprised that you can climb all around it. How lovely.
Google the Sutro Baths to see just how amazing they once were.
