The Algodones is a massive dune field located between mountain ranges on the convergence of the California, Arizona, and US-Mexican borders. The sand is from the bed of the ancient lake Cuhilla, sculpted by the naturally strong winds of the area into a slow-motion solid sea of shifting sands. It's a favorite spot for recreational offroading, but I think its importance moves beyond a substrate for buggies and sand rails.
