If you have a high clearance vehicle (it doesn't have to be a 4WD), spend an hour off-roading to a spectacular overlook above Convict Lake. Even if you have or will spend time boating, fishing, or hiking on the lake, you can't get these kids of views from lake level.

The track from Blaen Bran to Troed-y-Rhiw crumbling under an onslaught by illegal off-roaders. Several years ago, the local newspaper published comments by off-roaders that their illegal activity “causes no damage to the mountain”.
Two years ago, Whilst descending a similar track on the other side of Blaen Bran, I took a tumble when the edge, damaged in the same way by off-roading, gave way under me. Fortunately I was not injured.
