Stopped and had a chat with this guy who was getting ready to head off in the woods..

Lovely little bike - 2stroke with a cool sound and smell!! ;)

"This is the BSA Bantam frame that was originally designed by the late Rob Homer.

Alan Whitton, and Paul Rogers-Ridgard, from "Derby Road and Race" did a deal with Rob, to continue to build the frames.

Paul says now, fifty have been produced by ..2018..

Rob, Alan, and Paul, ... hence "RAP"..

The current frames have been altered slightly from Rob's original design, as they now sport engine under-run rails, for the simple reason that the Scottish two day trial committee, decried that to compete in their once a year trial, engine under-run rails were a must to be fitted, as there was not a BSA Bantam trials bike made by BSA without them"

Yesterday I think was the first real day of spring this year here in Iceland. I went a small trip on my offroadbike, and usually we are not allowed to ride near this place, but I got there yesterday on a hardpacked snow, so there was no harm done. This old shack is in a place called Ólafsskarð (Ólafs-pass).

The TR6 was developed and produced specifically for the US market, in particular, California desert racing earning it the unofficial name of Desert Sled. The model was introduced in 1956 and named the TR6 Trophy-bird, borrowing its name from the Thunderbird model, powered by the same engine as the T110, but with the new "Delta" alloy cylinder head. Its power delivery was ideally suited to off-road competition. The bike sported a 'siamese' (two-into-one) exhaust system and a 7-inch front brake. From 1961 the model got a stronger frame, and dropped its "Trophy-Bird" name was replaced with simply "Trophy". The home model was named the TR6, whereas the US export models were named TR6C for the competition model and TR6R for the road model.

This bike was formerly owned by The Ministry of Transport and was featured in the 1978 edition of the Highway Code. Described as mostly original and unrestored, in good running order.

The BSA B44 is a Motocross machine developed from the BSA World Championship Motocross machines, which were themselves based on the C15/B40. In 1963 BSA began competing a C15T fitted with the 343 cc B40 engine in various disciplines. Works rider Jeff Smith won the Scottish Six Days 350 cc cup that year and finished 3rd in the 500 cc Motocross World Championship. Brian Martin, head of BSA's competition department, started a feasibility study to enlarge the B40 engine. The engine was enlarged to 421 cc, which was considered the maximum reliable size for the 1964 season, Smith took this machine to 3 victories in the championship and, with 3 rounds to go, the displacement was increased to 441 cc. Smith won the final three round a beat the winner of the two previous championships, Swede Rolf Tibblin, to the title by a narrow margin. Smith was dominant in the 1965 season on the 441 and had the title sown up half-way through the season. In the final race, the East German GPSmith used a pre-production model of the soon to be announced Victor GP and finished sixth A road legal on-off-road version with lights was introduced in 1966 as the B44VE Victor Enduro in the UK and the B44VS Victor Special in the US. From 1967 the Victor Special name was used in all markets. The fuel and oil tanks were made in alloy. Production continued until the model was replaced by the B50 Victor Trail in 1971

This was taken last month on January 25th. The photographers appearing here are Abdullah Alfoudri and Ammar Al-othman. Both are distinguished Kuwaiti photographers whom I truly respect and admire for their skills and enthusiasm for Photography. You can see their streams by clicking on their names.

This was a shot I hesitated a lot to upload, mainly because I couldn't decide whether I should upload a normal version or a pseudo HDR version. (HDR made from a single RAW image) This image was edited mostly in Adobe Lightroom Version 1.3.

The P-HDR version has more detail and focuses a lot on the three main subjects here (The rider and two photographers). While this may have been a bad decision I thought it wouldn't hurt to upload something non HDR-ish once in a while.

The CL450 was the dual sport or "scrambler" sister model to the CB450 both powered by Honda's 444 cc (27.1 cu in) DOHC parallel-twin engine. The differences between the models were mostly cosmetic including the CL450 having off-road-style high-level exhaust pipes and braced handlebars

Initially available in kit form for the 1967 CB450, it was officially released in 1968 as the CL450K1 "Scrambler", the model remained much the same through to 1974 slowly diverging from the CB450. The CB450 was replaced in 1975 when Honda increased the displacement of the engine and renamed it the CB500.

A new specialist policing team has been set up to tackle issues with off-road bikes across Greater Manchester, hitting the road recently.

The new Safer Roads Targeting Team at Greater Manchester Police will be on hand for community officers if off-road bikes are being used illegally in their area, equipped with a fleet of on and off-road bikes and unmarked cars to help catch offenders.

As well as introducing the Safer Roads Targeting Team, GMP is also launching a community ‘toolkit’, giving people information on how they can help police and other agencies tackle the issue.

The toolkit will be readily available on the GMP website to all those who need it with details on what information police and their partners need to take action against those who ride off road bikes illegally. It is designed to help tackle an issue that many say is top of the agenda for residents in some areas.

Chief Inspector Tariq Butt, who heads up GMP’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Off-road bikes being driven illegally are a big concern for us and also for the people of Greater Manchester.

“This new team will help us tackle the issue as effectively as we possibly can, but the toolkit we’ve put together will also enable people to help us do this – we can all take responsibility for our communities and letting the appropriate authorities know what’s happening in them. We need people to be active in looking after themselves and their neighbours and this toolkit gives people the information that they need to do this when it comes to off-road bikes.”

Greater Manchester Police currently works with local authorities and residents to tackle the problem of off –road bikes being used illegally. Measures include putting up warning signs, seeking civil orders to stop people committing offences or, if the problem is persistent, ultimately seizing a bike that is used illegally, taking it off the streets for good.

The Safer Roads Targeting Team will consist of seven off road bikes based at Eccles but covering the whole of Greater Manchester. View the toolkit at www.gmp.police.uk/reporting/offroadbikes.

It's not every day we get to roll out a new product, let alone one that we've been working to develop for months. We've been talking about it as a possibility for quite some time, but now it's for real: The Gaulzetti Inox is our stainless steel (KVA’s MS2 tubing)model and while it's a departure from every other stainless bike on the market, it is entirely in keeping with the Gaulzetti philosophy.

We will officially unveil the Inox this January 2012 and will be delivering our first production bikes shortly thereafter. We also plan to have at least one Inox at the handmade bicycle show in early March. More to come...

An early version of M1030M1 JP8/Diesel Military Motorcycle developed by Hayes Diversified Technologies (HDT) here seen in action with the U.S. Marine Corp. It is designed to operate reliably and efficiently on Kerosene based fuels to include Diesel Fuel and Aviation Kerosene.

The M103M1 uses the chassis, a few engine components and all the internal transmission parts of the Kawasaki KLR650. The performance of the M103M1 is reported as sluggish but with dogged acceleration it will top over 90 miles an hour, a speed it will hold, apparently, until the end of time.

One of the great advantages of the M103M1’s diesel engine is its efficiency. At a steady 55 mph it gets 96 miles a gallon.
