This is the result of my second photography lesson. Still struggle with composition and apparently it is a bit wonky... Teacher said so. I like it anyway. Everything can't be perfect.
Meeting rooms, offices, and various business-type spaces occupyt this building. The siding near the roof was torn off in some recent high winds.
Maniototo County Council Offices were built in 1878 in Italianate style and designed by County Engineer Richard Browne. Standing prominently on the corner of Earne and Leven Streets the Offices stand as a testament to the importance of the development of local government in the nineteenth century. The Maniototo County Council Offices is a single storey timber building, rectangular in plan. The original rusticated timber cladding, with corners picked out in timber quoins, has been covered with stucco, and the balustrade reconstructed. The arched windows and arched doorway supported by pilasters with Byzantine capitals and the door opening with a semicircular fanlight remain. A concrete block addition on the rear wall provides storage for the museum collection. The building has a Historic Places Catergory II listing.
Naseby was an important township during the gold rush of the 1860s and at its peak the population of the town was close to 4,000. It is located in the Manitoto area of Central Otago, New Zealand.
