We use solar power for most of our energy needs at the off grid homestead. These folding solar panels keep our LED lights charged up for us to use at night.
Each LED light lasts for days on a charge so we can get through periods of rain or clouds with no problem.

Xantrex inverter showing 14.7 volt DC input voltage from solar charge controller and battery bank. Output is 120 volt PURE SINE WAVE needed to run sensitive electronics like computers and printers. Batteries and inverted electricity will go for 3 or 4 cloudy days without needing a recharge (depending on how much electricity is being used per day). 3 or 4 days without sun/solar charging is what we've experienced

Complete PV system needing only a separate 220V circuit run by an electrician. Hmmm... not sure about the code compliance issues here though. Backfeeding a 220V outlet?
